《The Connections》Conn

White light flowed out of Zach like a wave and a thunderclap drove all other sound into oblivion. The being with Avner’s face was reduced to nothing. The floor of the pit began to ungulate underneath Zach as a searing heat presented itself in his chest. A second later Zach hunched over in pain. CRACK... CRA-CRACK... CRACK!! Zach's body began to convulse and his bones began to fracture as the heat inside his chest flowed into his shattered bones. When the heat had subsided his bones began to set and heal. As the last of his bones finished healing his skin began to bubble and dissolve off his body, exposing the muscles, connective tissue, and bones which had a shimmer of red within them. A yellow light began to flow through Zach's veins. When the light had passed through his veins his skin began to re-knit itself onto his body. The pain was excruciating as the nerve endings were regrown. Once all of his skin had grown back the yellow light faded and a tight tension asserted itself inside Zach's head. Cupping his head in his hands, Zach screamed as his brain rewired itself, during this Zach could see a blue tint in his vision, but like before once the pain subsided the irregular color disappeared. This entire transformation only lasted 30 seconds but to Zach it felt like hours and left Zach panting on the floor of the pit. He heard voices and hands were clasped around him when his hold on reality finally failed him and he plummeted into unconsciousness. Zach opened his eyes and was greeted by a horrific face. It had four eyes and giant mandibles, the face was connected to a large scaly body with six legs and a long tail.
“Hello Zach, it is nice to finally talk with you.” the creature said.

Frozen with fright zach just laid there.
“I know my presence may be a little gruesome and unexpected but I can assure that you will not come to harm.” the creature said.
“What is happening? Who are you?” Zach said finally able to move his mouth.
“We are inside your subconscious and I am the Connection. You may call me Conn.” Conn said.
“What happened to me?” Zach asked.
“When the left side of your brain which is responsible for creativity is activated, the connection or the symbiosis between me, the energy and you, the host is stitched together allowing me to give you the power to survive and in return you harvest pure matter for me to consume.” Conn said.
“What made my left side of my brain activate? Why me?” Zach questioned.
“I picked you because you are the last person to have the Connection established within them.” Conn said.
“Wait what?” Zach said.
“Indeed, Humanity has lost the Connection because they have stopped using the left side of the brain. I can see everything you have ever done, thought, and felt. With what I have seen, you have the potential to help establish the Connection within humanity once more. Once you master the ability I have given to you I will give you the information needed on how to save humanity. Don’t fail me Zach, the fate of Torroth is in your hands” Conn said.
After Conn said that, Zach's vision went black once more and he opened his eyes to be met with reality.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance to claw her way up the rigid social and financial ladder to make something of herself. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

8 431To Cross the Threshold
What would one do, when a star crashes into the Earth? Die, of course! Except, in Joseph's case, it was all wrong. He met face-to-face with the Light, got the program forced into his brain, and woke up far, far away from his small insignificant hometown, in the ethereal endless void, full of stars and vigour, guns and loot, Daemons and Skills! From there on out, he got volunteered into the crew of the Morning Star, the pirate ship he was unfortunate enough to stumble upon. With a tree for the Captain, a dragoncat for the Quartermaster, and a human, equal in height and width, as the Cook, he sets sail across the mysterious and hostile Threshold, filled with fierce abominations, rich Ghosts, and patriotic soldiers from the Glorious Metal Empire, all to figure out what the Light has brought upon his Earth that day, and to find his way back home. Warning - English is not my first language, so I apologize in advance for any inconsistencies and grammar mistakes. Please, do point them out when you find some. Updates three days a week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday. This book is about the slice-of-life-ish lighthearted adventures of Joseph and Co. Just one long bumpy road, inspired by old-school RPGs.

Some of you believe in fate and some of you don't. That's ok in our world. In the world that I created Fate has been acting strange and selfish for a long time. She was always fascinated with humans and the fact that they had soulmates because a lot of other races didn't. Ever since humans started traveling through space, that opened millions of new opportunities for Fate to make the human soulmates meet. However, because of her strange behaviour Fate made too many mistakes. After that, Fate made what she thought, was a good move. What she didn't count on was that the good move she made knew that you can cheat fate. One and his crew don't know how ironic it is that she chose them to make her good move. ------------------------------- I didn't use any movies, books or series for inspiration the story is my original work. This is just the result of my weird imagination and brain telling me what to write. I hope you liked it :) It’s just a story, like all of my other stores. It doesn’t have a deeper spiritual, moral or ethical meaning.
