《The Connections》The Archives

The two doors open up to a large room with 25 massive bookshelves reaching up three stories. Each one filled with books and Artifacts. The walls were equally filled with paintings of all sorts. In the middle of the room was an obelisk made of dark and smooth stone. On each side of the obelisk was a digital screen. Conner pulled Zach to the obelisk and tapped one of the digital screens and an image of three crystals in a triangular formation. Each of the crystals had a single color, the top one was yellow, the bottom left was red, and the bottom right was blue. The crystals lit up and a voice coming from somewhere in the obelisk said “What are you looking for?”.

“Archives please.” Conner said.

The blue crystal shattered and the shards formed a search engine and a digital keyboard appeared from below the screen border. Conner looked over to Zach.

“What was that saying again?” Conner asked.

“People tend to think what they want to; they don’t realize it that often.” Zach repeated.

Conner typed it into the search engine and tapped enter. Suddenly the screen went black, but just as suddenly the screen came back on and a robotic voice said “information not identified.” Then the first voice said “Where did you come by this information?”

“It came from me. Why?” Zach said.

“The information you submitted is not in the archives and the archives have all the information that exists now.” The voice said.

“Do you know what that means Zach?” Conner asked.

“No. What does it mean?” Zach replied.

“It means that saying is an original idea. You had an original idea Zach.” Conner said excitedly.

A crowd of onlookers Zach had not seen gather around him started to whisper among themselves. Zach stared at Conner with a look close to disbelief.

“Wait, if I had an original idea then wouldn’t I have an ability also?” Zach said.

“Maybe you haven’t discovered what your ability is yet.” Conner countered.

“Uh this is a little too much to work through yet. I need some time.” Zach said, turning to leave the library.

“Wait, you need to be tested.” Conner said, but it was too late, Zach had already disappeared into the crowd.
