《Insanity Of A Reverend Reader》Guts

The hunt was extremely successful and my brother fed his Gu worm the spiky part of the bear's spine, along with a bunch of broken boar bones. We had to go back and ask mum for the spinal column, as the one we got was a thighbone and it had to be a bone, not a broken piece of bone. The restructuring takes time, so we had to do something else and I had just the thing in mind!
I don't have a rank 6 Gu, so insta-refining isn't possible for me. I barely managed to finish refining the White Boar Strength Gu yesterday. We had to wait like an hour for my brother's Bone Restructuring Gu to finish it's work, so what better time to start cultivating his strength!
You see, I don't really wanna walk on the strength path. That might surprise the bunch of you, but I really don't like the strength path. It is powerful, yes, but so are the other paths. Strength path is for people with ferocious natures and strong physiques. I personally prefer Gu like Moonlight Gu. I will still cultivate my body's strength with cultivation Gus' like my body nourishing Gu.
I found a really useful use for my system. Other than buying any Gu worm in existence, I mean. It gives me descriptions of Gus' and their effects. I have studied this for 15 years and have learned about quite a few interesting facts about how different paths and laws interact with eachother.
I am a Gu master, so I can't learn laws on my own. Can I? Maybe, I have no idea. My point is, my body won't contain any strength path Law energy or whatever thingys in it as long as I use cultivation path to train it. My brother has no other choice, so he faces the ultimatum of nothing or taking the strength path. It's a pretty easy choice if you ask me or him.
I have more than enough options, so I won't limit myself to the strength path. I will have the physical strength of a strength path Gu master, but I will be the master of another path! This is my style, an all-around person, who tricks others into letting their guards down.
Chun Jack doesn't have such luxury, so he has to begin cultivating the strength path as soon as possible. It takes about 15 or 20 minutes to fully finish the first strengthening session.
30 minutes passed and the first 4% of the White Boar Strength Gu had been fully implemented into my brother. Every strength Gu requires continuous use over the span of 25 days, rank 1 Gus' at least. The small strength boost the 4% provided was quite insignificant, but it will add up and he will receive an entire boar's strength in 25 days.

Jack stood up from his meditation stance and said "My bode feels quite a bit stronger. We should go test it out and see if anything has changed with my body's toughness and strength." I nodded at his proposal readily.
We usually hunt in the south area, but went to the east part before, as that was close to my mum's house. Now we finished hunting in the south area.
Fighting wild animals is how I grow stronger and how we make money. It has been our bread and butter for years and we are basically professionals at hunting boars, lightning wolves, normal wolves and the occasional roaming bandit monkeys.
So when I say the hunt this time was weird, it means something is happening and I don't like it!
We managed to hunt down 2 groups of 6 boars this time instead of the usual 3 or 4 and, here is the weird part, we got less injured than usually. My injuries amounted to only a few cracked ribs from stopping a literal runaway pig's charge with my body and my knuckles and muscles kinda hurt from punching their tough hide, but I wasn't nearly as injured this time as I usually get.
"Are the boar's getting weaker around here? What is going on? I highly doubt that small increase in strength actually made us strong enough to easily beat a group of 6." Chun Jack also went into deep thought about that. We have been wrestling these boars for years and know their strength. Even if his overall combat power did go up, it was only a ten to twenty percent boost and most of the percentage came in the form of durability, not attack strength.
I furrowed my brows as a thought came to me "We need to investigate. It seems like they are sending the weaker boars out to scout for food. It is almost like they have become an organized unit, rather than some wild creatures banding together." The realization hit us both at the same time "A beast King!"
"It should be a thousand beast King. We have met some 2 and 3 boar groups before and they were all strong, but the common point is they were deep in the forest and there weren't a lot of those groups. Suddenly the range and quantity went up, but the quality went down. This can only mean a thousand beast King boar has appeared and sent the weaker boars or the relatively younger boars on scouting missions, using them as pawns to test the local lords!"

Chun Jack nodded to my reasoning and agreed to it. Of course, I knew about the boar king from the original story, but this one wasn't the thousand beast king old man Wang warned us about. It is a different one. Located at the south side. The one Fang Yuan used to kill his teammates is at the northwest side of the Gu Yue clan city.
I looked at my brother staring at his hands and he had that smirk on his face. He only smirks like that when he finds something interesting and is about to go nuts. I had to be the rational one in this situation and stop him. God I hate my job sometimes!
I got the excited look off of my face and slapped him back into reality "Don't even dream about it! Until I reach rank 2, we aren't hunting down any thousand beast kings! For now, let's bring our loot back to mum and I'll begin cultivating. You can train while guarding me. I also have a small gift for you waiting there!"
My slave looked a bit confused, but he nodded his head and we went back to my mum's place. My mother was surprised at the small amount of injuries we had and almost died of happiness "Finally! My boy has learned to not wrestle wild animals and is acting like a true Gu master!"
I did use some moon blade attacks in order to increase my proficiency, but I could only manage 6 attacks before I ran completely dry. I also missed the first 5 and barely landed the sixth when the boar was inches away from colliding with me. That is how I got the broken ribs, btw.
After she healed us with her, now, rank 2 Slow Mending Gu, we want outside on their house's courtyard and began the exercise. A very interesting thing was embed into the ground there as well.
"Now, slave, this is the reward you have earned. This is a special sword which I have personally name Guts. It weight 250 kilograms and is nearly 2 meters in length. It is made out of pure iron and cost me 150 primeval stones in total to have this forged!" I looked at the amazement on his face. He stared at Guts for a while and couldn't take his eyes off of it.
I know my slave like the back of my hand! "You are only 1.7 meters tall now, but your body tells me you will be 1.9 at your maximum height, so this sword will fit you perfectly. For now, you need to adapt your body to using it. Your job is to swing this sword a hundred times and get used to it. After that, you need to cut down 8 tree using that sword! Do I make my self clear?!"
My slave nodded his head and said "Your instructions have been received and I will begin this very moment!" He picked up the sword. Picked up being an exaggeration. He touch it and barely lifted it up over his shoulder. He smiled and quietly said "So, your name is Guts? I like you!"
I was a pretty big fan of Guts from berserk to be honest. A lowly man with nothing more than a sword and his body fighting against magic and gods. He was my hero and my wake up call to start working out. Now I want to spread the tales of Chun Jack, the new berserker and his sword Guts! The one who will cut down the heavens and the god hand!
I also found a Gu worm he will love, but it is hella expensive. It costs 1K Gu points, which is an astronomical amount for a Gu worm of rank 3. It is called Organic Weapon Gu and Living Sword Gu for this specific situation.
It is a one time use Gu and has a single effect, turn a weapon made out of iron, steel, gold or anything into a living creature, capable of growing, eating and becoming stronger!
This will allow the giant sword to develop a bond with my slave and become one and the same with him. He will bond with the new sword and he will master it! This is the reason I have drilled into him, that he isn't a master of Gu. Him trying to cultivate is a complete waste of time! It is better to use that time productively. I will worry about his cultivation later when we get the unity Gu thingy from Bai Gu mountain.
He doesn't need any primeval essence for now, but it still isn't such a bad idea to boost his cultivation in the future. I'll be going now, gotta do a lotttaaaa trainings!

Parallels
Parallels are a constant in life. Our friends' lives often run parallel to ours; we share similar experiences or tastes- perhaps even both. Sometimes, however, opposites attract- and our lives run perpendicular. In that case, we are not attracted by similarities; rather, we are attracted to the differences in others. So, what happens when two parallels are broken apart? What might happen to them? Are they forever doomed to run alongside each other, never seeing one another, never meeting? Or, perhaps, might they be spun about? Could these lines that formerly ran alongside one another meet? Could they possibly be set perpendicular? Any feedback is welcome, so long as it is constructive. Also, you may not use any characters, ideas, places, or what have you that I present here without my explicit permission. A note: This is a story which I began over a year ago, but never got around to finishing- it feels about time to really get it going. Now, there are a couple of things about the story, and myself, that need to be said. First and foremost, there's a slow start, but by the third-fourth chapter things should be speeding up a bit. Secondly, in regards to release speed and/or word count per chapter, I make no promises- my schedule is fairly random, and in regards to word count, I will cut off any chapter at any point that feels appropriate to me- that may include cliffhangers, if necessary. I'm not trying to reach a specific word count, I am trying to create a cohesive story, with pseudo-appropriate chapter breaks. This means I will also not rush a half-baked release for the sake of getting a release out. Thirdly, I will make any edits, anywhere in the story and at any time, that strike me as necessary- typically being wording and/or formatting changes, but I may also decide to change major plot points- in that case I would put a notification in the next chapter released. Finally, and most importantly, I am a Christian; this story is intended to at least moderately reflect those values. So, if you particularly dislike any of these things, feel free to look elsewhere, and don't let the door hit you on the way out. God bless, friends.
