[Logos Bloodforging]

Grade: E

Extraordinary treasures and cultivators have a long history dating back to the earliest days of the cosmos. Some of these treasures served their cultivators for a short portion of the Paths while others become eternal companions. As an Origin Wielder of Logos, you can forge unique connections with Relics.

Logos Bloodforging allows the Logos Cultivator to forge a powerful bond with a Relic through a ritual utilizing his blood and Logos. Bonded Relics will be empowered and stored within the Logos Cultivator’s body. They are also considered part of the Logos Cultivator’s body for relevant effects.

The strength of the empowering effect is determined by level and rank with a slight increase from Resonance.

Jack sat back against the wall, his mind working through the possibilities one after another. His eyes snapped from one skill to another, each pass sparking greater indecision. He had to admit that Logos Cultivator lived up to its classification as a utility designation. Every one of the skills in the selection offered supportive benefits and three of the five guaranteed increased growth. He honestly wanted all of them.

Sadly, he could only choose one and the choice was obvious after he read over the descriptions for the third time.

Taking a deep breath to silence his apprehension, he made his selection.

A tide of information filled his mind detailing the process of bloodforging and the basic methods to incorporate other energies into the ritual. Once the influx came to an end, he took a deep breath and massaged his throbbing head. He looked up at the sky.

If I get one more headache, I might develop some kind of condition. He chuckled in a weak attempt to silence his trepidation about his future and his past. It didn’t work well, so he opened his Status and assigned one five-point bonus to Might and the other to Resonance. When he scanned through the results of his level up, his mood improved by quite a bit.

His Ethos and Logos were nearly doubled. His Logos pool would have more than doubled if he invested both five-point bonuses into his Resonance. It had been tempting because all of his skills scaled with the attribute and it would’ve further increased his Ethos, but his only weapon being a sword limited how much he was willing to neglect Might even for something as efficient for his growth as Resonance. In the future, he wondered what kind of skills he could gain. Since Logos Cultivator was a utility designation, he’d likely be reliant on his second designation, whatever it was.

Well, I won’t find out until I find an Obelisk or an administrator and I probably need to find civilization before I can do either of those. He set those thoughts to the side and picked up the Broken Shadowsteel Blade-Conduit.

Without hesitation, he pressed his ring and index fingers against the edge of the blade and sliced the tips open. He immediately willed Logos to gather at his fingertips. The Logos Bloodforging skill activated and as expected, his Logos Manipulation skill also took effect. The latter sped up the process by automating the movement of the energy following his will and infusing Logos into the silvery-blue blood welling at his fingertips. Jack barely had to think about it.

Rather than heal due to his Ethos, the cuts glowed with soft blue light and a single droplet fell to the floor. The blood stood out in sharp contrast to the dull, ruddy stone making it easy for Jack to spot it. He placed his two fingers on the droplet and started tracing out a multilayer circle that would fit his sword within it. In theory, the mechanics of the symbols and ritual circles might as well have been gibberish to Jack, but the skill gave him the practical understanding and instruction on what he needed to do for it to work. As long as he didn’t make any major mistakes, he knew there wouldn’t be any issues.

When he finished, a triple-layered ritual circle packed with symbols representing things beyond his comprehension glimmered on the floor in front of Jack. According to the information from Logos Bloodforging, this was called an array and the symbols were known as sigils. The result wasn’t perfect despite the skill’s assistance, but he couldn’t identify any major errors. I’ll have to practice this when I get the chance.

He placed the Broken Shadowsteel Blade-Conduit in the circle. On the flat of the blade, he traced three sigils representing each layer of the array. Then, he pressed his middle finger on the center sigil and willed the array to activate. The room filled with blue light making Jack close his eyes to shield them. A low hum filled the air sending vibrations through his body. It was strange though not entirely unpleasant. The hum lasted for less than a minute before silence once more claimed the ruins.

When Jack opened his eyes, there was nothing in front of him: no array, no dried blood, no Relic, only the same unassuming stone floor that he’d grown familiar with in the past few hours. He barely had time to blink before a notification dominated his surface thoughts.

Rather than a slight quirk of the lips, a full-blown smile spread across his lips brimming with satisfaction. His choice had been predicated on his assumption that the weapon would be repaired by his Ethos once he bonded with it. This assumption stemmed from the second to last sentence in the description of Logos Bloodforging. If the Relic would be considered part of his body, wouldn’t that mean his Ethos would repair it like it healed his wounds? The only questions were whether or not the Relic would be completely repaired and how long it would take.

He summoned the shadowsteel blade with a thought making it appear in his open palm. The action came smoothly and took less than a second. Physically, the weapon had only changed slightly. Its jagged tip was extended an inch further than the last time he’d seen it. Even better, the extra inch of shadowsteel maintained the golden vein pattern of the rest of the blade which answered one of his pressing questions. Those gold veins were the solarite channels that enabled the Energy Conduit effect. Once they were repaired, the effect should be improved and perhaps, more importantly, should be more efficient in terms of energy consumption.

I wonder how many empowered strikes I’ll be able to use once the blade is whole. With his increased Logos pool, he could’ve used the Ruined Energy Conduit effect approximately five times in a row before needing to wait for his Logos regeneration. Would that number double now? Triple? I’ll find out soon. It's time to see what “empowered by a single stage” means.

Grade: F

This Shadowsteel Blade was once a mighty weapon wielded by members of the Shadowtitan Knights. They were enchanted to be reinformed, to remain sharp without maintenance, and to enable their wielder to channel supernatural energy into the blade to enhance their strikes.

However, like everything else, it did not survive the fall of its world intact. The weapon lay broken until the Logos Cultivator Jack bonded with and empowered it with his blood and Logos. As such, the blade’s strength has grown close to its once full glory and may potentially surpass even the vision of its original creator.

Attribute Bonus: +10% Might

Effects: Reinforced, Ever-sharp, Recovering Energy Conduit, Self-Repair
