《Dragonslayer Awakens (The Flash Guardians series 1)》Ch 11: Xabe and Dreyagon

The Destruction Destroyer knight swung his great sword to land a massive hit, but the Dragonslayer rolled sideways just in time, causing the huge blade to shatter the ground beside him.
The Chaos Destroyer knight summoned four weapons in each of his four hands: the upper arms had a spear and a flaming flail, while the lower arms held an axe and a one-handed sword.
The Dragonslayer slashed the Destruction knight’s chest plate with a quick slice of his steel sword. The knight backed away from such pain. Suddenly, the slayer was tossed away from the flaming flail of the Chaos Destroyer knight. Fortunately, though, the Dragonslayer used his shield to block the attack.
But it was not enough to protect his body from the strong impact on the ground. The Dragonslayer grimaced and saw the Chaos knight leaped toward him. The slayer flipped back ward just in time before he was about to get stomped by the knight’s massive foot.
The two began to face each other. Going for the first hit, the Chaos knight tried to pierce him with the spear, slashed with the sword and axe, and even attempted to land a blow with the flaming flail, however, the slayer parried and counter-attacked with several bashes with his shield and several cuts with his sword. But it was not effective. The knight’s bronze skin was unscathed. The look on the Dragonslayer’s face made the Chaos knight showed his razor sharp fangs as he grinned.
“You’re getting old… and weak,” the knight chuckled. “You really stopped using dark magic now, have you?”
At a glimpse, the Death Destroyer knight came close to the black crater. He observed the magnificent remains of the Devastrigon. It was like seeing the whole body as a grand castle. “Oh great destroyer. Bringer of the end. After all these years, the time has come. But something is holding you back… no… someone?”
The Destruction knight swung hard enough to throw the Dragonslayer away from the crater, even his shield won’t protect him for long.
Back at the forest, Xabe could tell that he was almost there, but sensed something coming from the sky. Above him, dashed several griffins flying to where he was heading. “Flash guardians,” Xabe muttered. “Guess we better catch up, Red.” His cadence increased in such a rapid pace.
Nisr looked below to see the boy catching up with them. “Boy, is he fast or what?” He had a good view as he sat on the rear side.
“His powers are developing quickly,” commented Hugo, who was sitting in the middle right in font of Nisr.
“God, I hope the Dragonslayer’s ass isn’t kicked so badly,” said Willy, who was sitting right behind Jorken’s head. “I heard those Destroyer knights are extremely tough to deal with.”
Nisr scanned the distance between the boy on the forest and the crater. As he spotted the tallest tree near them, he said, “Alright, this is my stop.” He patted Hugo’s shoulders before leaping off to the tree. He managed to land perfectly on a thick branch and pulled out his hunting rifle. “Giuseppe, this Nisr. I’m in position, over.”
“Good.” Giuseppe sipped his juice. The HUD later showed Erik and his team flying their way to the cliff. “Zoom in, please,” he said.
The HUD began to zoom in to the cliff to see the weird old lady facing Wayde. “There you are,” Giuseppe muttered. “Erik, Yrlin, we found Wayde.”
At the sky, flying as fast as they could, Erik heard his friend from the communicator. “At this area?”

Giuseppe replied via comms, “Yes, he was with the Darken seer.”
Erik was startled a bit. He and Yrlin exchanged looks. They were getting close to the cliff, so Erik told BF to fly faster so his team could follow.
Meanwhile, at the cliff, Wayde and the weird old lady had begun their conversation as she spoke, “You know, this is the only way for Etheron- no… the entire world of Enchanteria to have a new beginning,”
“Yes,” Wayde nodded. “I had finally understood the ancient prophecy you kept mumbling about.” He started walking beside her. “I’m assuming you shared your words to your clan?”
“I left the clan a long time ago, for I see the true vision that the other seers are still blind to see. And it was better to be found by Flash guardians, but I had to approach Dreyagon first about it.” she explained. “I had doubts, of course, until the clan leaders learned about his whereabouts, and so I left.”
“And MaXabiere hearing your words was just happened by chance.”
The weird old lady couldn’t help but smile. “It seems it was the perfect sign of the gods. Still, what a weird young boy he is.”
The mounted Flash guardians finally landed on the cliff, though some were still in airborne to keep an eye of them on top. “Now!” Erik commanded.
Yrlin cast a spell to command tree branches to burst out of the ground to entangle the seer. The other Flash guardians shot out blue energy beams that formed a force field around her from their golden mini arm cannons.
“Erik,” Wayde said as the black-armored guardian came close to stand by him.
“Mr. Wayde.” Erik tossed his head.
Wayde looked pass Erik to see the witch. “Yrlin.”
“Sup,” Yrlin nodded her head. Now the three of them focused on the captured old lady.
“I know what you’re going to say,” said Erik.
“You already read my mind,” Wayde glanced at him.
“You’re crazy.” Erik shook his head. “In the meantime, this seer will have her interrogation.”
“I’m happy to comply,” said the weird old lady. “You must bring both Xabe and Dreyagon with you. Hmph, such an adorable nickname… Xabe. Xabe. Xabe. Xabe.”
“You got a lot of explaining to do.” Erik stared at Wayde before turning to his guardians, who he tossed his head to escort her. “We’ll set our camp here. Let’s hope they survive.”
The Flash guardians used their mini arm cannon to lift the force field in order to carry the wrapped weird old lady, or the Darken seer, away from the cliff and down to the forest, but there were other Flash guardians who escorted their griffins. The mounted guardians at the sky flew first to scout the forest ahead before building camp.
Only Wayde remained. He gazed at the mounted Flash guardians far away as they go to the black crater, where the immobilized Devastrigon was resting.
Back to the Death Destroyer knight, he turned to see his brothers handling the Dragonslayer quite well, as the hero (or traitor) had to deal such a challenge. “My brothers,” he called. “It’s time.”
The Chaos knight, no matter how many times the Dragonslayer parried and blocking with his shield, kept attacking with strong and swift attacks. It was the prefect opportunity for the Destruction knight to deliver the final blow, firstly, he roared to his great sword in order to create a swirling wind on the giant blade. The Chaos knight jumped back before the Destruction knight landed his great sword on the ground, causing huge explosions that threw the Dragonslayer, crashing his way through trees and rocks. The force was too great, even the slayer felt the pain the great sword had inflicted on him.

Back at the forest, Xabe felt the impact of the invisible waves hitting him. Suddenly, it pushed the boy and fell on his face. Luckily, the snowy ground was soft as a pillow- but minus the bounce. Even the griffins of the Flash guardians were blown away. Willow and Hugo held on to Jorken the griffin for dear life. Not to mention Nisr, as he was at the tallest tree that really bending over. “Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit!”
The tree swayed back and forth, and luckily its roots and trunk were strong. Nisr sighed in sweet relief.
On the ground, far away, Red landed in front of him. There was a short pause, until Xabe abruptly lifted his head up with a gasp. “We must’ve getting near, Red. Come one.”
The boy and the pileated woodpecker ran on to the black crater. In fact, they were almost there, but quite the opposite for the guardians. Jorken was first to regain balance before the others. “Easy, Jorken,” said Hugo.
“Look!” Willow pointed at the direction in which Xabe was running. “We better catch up.” Jorken shrieked and flied on to the crater, while the rest followed for the mission.
With the Dragonslayer weakened and the Flash guardians pushed back, the three Destroyer knights came together to initiate their plan. Under each of them, huge grayish-purple circles began to emerge beneath their feet. They raised their hands and began the chant.
“Awake now, bringer of chaos,” said the Chaos knight.
“Oh, great birth of death!” said, the Death knight.
“The time is nigh, arise the inevitable destruction,” said the Destruction knight.
The Dragonslayer attempted his best to got up on his feet with a grunt, but he was pushed back by another strong force from the chant. Far away, he glanced at the Destroyer knights began to shine in purple and began to fly on to each of the Devastrigon’s heads.
Xabe noticed another force of wind was coming, fortunately, he and the woodpecker were quick enough to hide themselves behind a tree. The force was too strong, so Xabe had to keep Red close to him by holding on with his grasp. The young man began to feel something. He stood his ground before the incredible amount of power the wind was pushing through. Though, Xabe knelt down and ducked his head to avoid getting thrown by debris. Even the trees couldn’t resist the wind as they began to flew off.
“Oh come on.” Nisr was smart enough to grapple to another tree with his grappling hook. For certainty, he landed beside a boulder for cover and pressed his comms. “Erik!”
At the established camp, Erik and Yrlin were inside a tent, all watching and guarded up as the weird old lady sat on a wooden chair, still wrapped with Yrlin’s tree branches. Between them was a brown table that Erik slammed his hands on. “I heard words inside your head over and over, again, lady.” He darted his heterochromia eyes to hers. “My question is, why him? Can’t just Dreyagon be done with it, and it will all be over? What else do you know more, hmm? He’s just a kid.”
“Destiny can be cruel,” spoke the weird old lady. “Very cruel, indeed. But, by his power, there is no doubt, that he is the child of the great prophecy that one day he shall ascend.”
Yrlin looked puzzled. “Great prophecy?” She and Erik exchanged looks.
There was a sound of the entrance curtain moving. “And this is the starting point,” said Wayde. “But his role can’t be fulfilled without our help, especially Dreyagon the Dragonslayer.”
“So…,” Erik nodded to all of them. “We’ve finally come to this.”
“Indeed,” Wayde nodded in return. “But the seer here had made several moves ahead of us.”
“Hehe, true.” The weird old lady lifted her head. “Do you think telling Xabe to side with you will let him play his part? No, no, no, he must see to feel- and to feel, he thinks- and to think, he takes action.”
“This is next level shit, right here,” commented Yrlin.
“Trust me,” Erik assured. “You’ll get used to it.” He then turned to Wayde. “This should be addressed to Queen Heather.”
“No,” Wayde interjected. “Not yet. MaXabiere’s powers began developing to kick-start the greatest counter measure that we only have, if there’s a great representative to tell her about the great prophecy has been set in motion, it’s Dreyagon.”
Yrlin pondered, “Do you think she’ll immediately accept this, Erik?”
“She has to.”
“You tried talking to her?’
Erik wanted to say yes, but he also wanted to say at times like this, it’s… difficult. But not for Erik though, but for the both of them.
Abruptly, the ground abruptly shook. “Holy shit, that was the second time.” Yrlin held Erik’s biceps. “Oooh, you’ve gotten bigger, Vortecse.”
“That was the second time,” Erik muttered.
“That what I just said,” said Yrlin.
“Erik!” Nisr’s voice popped out from comms.
Erik pressed his communicator. “Nisr, status.”
“The Flash guardians were pushed back and so was I. But I caught a glimpse that the kid must’ve made it there. Oh, and bad news, the Devastrigon is alive and there’s no sign of the Dragonslayer.”
“What about the Destroyer knights?”
“I don’t know! They must’ve resurrected the damn thing somehow.”
Erik grunted, “Shit,”
“Destroyer knights,” said the weird old lady. “So they are really willing to go this far.”
Erik confronted the weird old lady once again when Yrlin released his arm. “Yeah, and I tell you now that they have nothing to lose.”
The weird old lady started asking, “Do you really think that you’re all match against such formidable foes of the Darken clan?”
“That’s just great.” Yrlin tossed her arms. “So about the Dragonslayer since he’s down.”
“I tell you this.” The weird old lady leaned. “Dreyagon has a much higher purpose than slaying dragons, my dear.” The weird old lady looked over at Wayde. “You are indeed quite right that Dreyagon should tell the real mother. He has every right, after all.”
Without responding to her, Wayde breathed and started walking out of the tent, but before he did, he looked at the two Flash guardians. “Let’s hope Xabe and Dreyagon will last long.”
There was a short silence after the father came out. Erik placed his arms out in distress, and Yrlin crossed hers. “What’s the next step?” asked the witch guardian.
“Plan A has failed, I underestimated those Destroyer knight bastards. Time for Plan B.”
Far away from the campsite, the Devastrigon’s body began to burn. Instead of crumbling to dusts, the burning caused its restoration. Its broken limbs and wings were put back together, the huge gap on its chest started to close, and those sunken eyes of each head ignited with flames of anger. A black tornado began to swirl around the entire crater, concealing the three-headed dragon.
Xabe lifted his head up as he heard grunting from the far left, “I think that’s him, Red.” He looked down at his woodpecker friend before started running toward the slayer. Red had decided to fly on the remaining trees to spectate.
The Dragonslayer was about to hoist himself up, but was surprised by a young boy wearing an olive jacket, brown pants, and gray boots. What stood out the most from the grayish atmosphere was his red scarf stretched out vividly. It was so vibrant, just like what the slayer was assuming to the boy’s presence. Something was off.
“Are you okay?” spoke the boy. He didn’t want to bother the Dragonslayer as the man got up with another grunt.
Xabe gazed as the hero from six years ago stood up. It was as if he was seeing a rising mountain been sculpted into an epic looking statue. His crimson leather armor was burned and had several cuts to it. Same with the bronze shoulder pads. Like his black pants, the slayer’s brown tasset belt had been in better days, torn and mostly pastel colored.
Under the rusted horned bronze helmet, his braided beard were mixed with brown-white, showing how much he aged. Now, Xabe and Dreyagon faced each other eye-to-eye.
As Xabe looked up to the Dragonslayer’s burning eyes, he thought that the man who was responsible for killing the Devastrigon had been through many battles and hardships.
As Dreyagon looked at the boy’s hopeful turquoise eyes, he thought of this one’s potential, like any other teenagers. He thought about the boy’s hopes and dreams. He would have a long way to go.
“Holy shit, you’re big.” said Xabe.
“What brings you here, boy?” said the Dragonslayer with his deep, husky voice.
“I, uh…” Xabe wanted to be brief, but the aggressive wind of the tornado had caught their attention.
The tornado began to rise, dominating the height of the slayer- or rather, the entire sky. They both lifted their heads and knew what was behind the swirling element of air as two air of eyes from three heads began to blaze.
Dreyagon readied himself with his bronze shield and sword while Xabe didn’t know how to react in a situation like this because, even God couldn’t blame him, he possessed none other than a wooden sword.
“Three words,” Xabe pointed. “You and that.”
The Dragonslayer glanced down at him. So much of convincing the boy, Wayde.
