《The Tales of Hammerfall》Chapter 9 -- Fight

Raph and Clark were studying the layout of the goblin encampment, looking for ways to thin the number a little before they went in. Raph spoke to Clark about what he could do with his class, he had a skill called Dominate that let him control a monster within 5 levels of him for a minute. Raph looked around to find a suitable target.

Goblin Lv.14
There was a bigger goblin walking around that looked pretty formidable, it was the same height as Raph and built like a brick house.
Goblin Lv.27
‘Well, that could be a problem.’ Raph thought as he inspected it. After a bit more deliberation they decided that Clark would Dominate a goblin and try to cause a riot.
With the plan set, Clark dominated a bigger looking level 14 and got it to cause as much havoc as possible. While the Goblin was making noise Raph moved in, he started picking off the stragglers on the edge of the encampment. Thankfully goblins aren’t too bright so they didn’t notice the attack while Clark did his work with his skill. A brawl broke out with around half of the goblins as Raph was killing them. He was gaining levels quickly using Forceful as often as possible to deal some extra damage. Clarks skill had worn off and he was now fighting the goblins with his dagger, he was doing much better than the first fight.
There were only a few left now, including the high level one. Now the numbers had thinned the high level goblin focused on Raph and started coming at him. Raph was ready and used the new skill Amplified Sound right in front of the goblin which sent it staggering as the incredibly loud noise hit it like a hammer. Raph ran up to the dazed goblin, activated Forceful and slammed both hammers on the goblins head, killing it instantly.
It was a minute or so later, Raph and Clark had cleared the cavern out and were trying to catch their breath outside one of the huts the goblins had set up. Raph inspected his notification and stats

‘Alright, now that is interesting.’ Raph thought as he stood up. Clark still looked a little listeless as he was sat on the ground so Raph let him be for a moment.
“I’m going to have a look around, see if there’s anything interesting.” Raph said as he walked over to the hut where the big Goblin came from. The inside was ramshackled, yet there was a small chest that contained around 50 silver and a couple of potions so Raph took them. There was still no sign of Erwin, so they would have to keep looking. Searching through the other huts, Raph found around 50 more silver which he would give to Clark to make it even.
“Come on, it's time to move.” Raph said as he offered a hand up to Clark. The young man on the floor took it and was hoisted onto his feet by Raph.
“You all good now, all your points and stuff good?” Raph said as he analyzed his companion.
Clark Cooper -- Beast Tamer Lv.18
‘Not bad kid’ Raph thought as he waited for Clarks reply.
“Yeah sorry boss, I'm good.” Clark said as he snapped out of it.
They continued on past the encampment of goblins, a few higher leveled goblins in the tunnels were taken care of by Clark on the way which got him another level. They then found themselves in a smaller cavern one with no goblins but it showed signs of a fight. After a quick look around they found a small relatively hidden passage on one side of the cavern and decided to follow, hopefully their missing person was in here. Ten meters in or so they found a young man, around Raphs age, lying unconscious in the corner of a small room. He was scratched and cut all over, it looked like he had lost a lot of blood. Raph fed him a health potion which seemed to stabilize the young man.

Erwin Fullmore -- Swordsman Lv.20
‘Bingo,’ Raph thought as he analyzed him. Upon further inspection Erwin was a little taller than Raph with straw colored hair, a sharp nose and blue eyes. He was currently wearing some kind of battle robe and his sword couldn’t be seen anywhere, which Raph thought to be odd. A few minutes and another health potion later, Erwin woke with a start. It took Raph and Clark a minute to get him to realize they weren’t in fact goblins and they were here to get him.
“So Erwin, do you fancy telling us what happened?” Raph asked politely.
“Uh, what a mess.” Erwin said as he ran his fingers through his hair. “Well, it was going great. I cleared the rooms of goblins out and I got to the next larger cavern down and it was in there.”
"What was in there?” Clark asked.
“A level 50 goblin.” Erwin said.
“Well. Shit.”said Raph. “So you tried to fight it?”
“Briefly, then I tried to run away. Which I barely managed to, as you can see.” said Erwin.
“So, I’m guessing that’s where your sword is?” Raph asked.
“Yes, I dropped it on my escape.” said Erwin, as he rested his head in his hands.
“Well we need to get you out of here first, we will come back for the sword.” Raph said as he hoisted Erwin off the floor. Erwin protested for a brief minute but eventually Raph convinced him to leave. They made their way to the exit and thankfully the carriage was still there along with the horses. Raph put Erwin in the back and let him rest up while he took the seat next to Clark on the front.
“Well that was an interesting day, wasn’t it?” Raph said rather cheerily,as they rode back to Langreth.
“Thanks again boss.” Clark said
“Don’t worry about it, I think you should start looking for a companion so you can be more helpful in fights though.” Raph added.
“I will, just finding one is the tricky part.”
“I’ll do some research and see if I can come up with any ideas,” said Raph.
The way back to Langreth was quiet and they got back to the Guild before dark.
“Alright Erwin, we’re here. Do you want us to take you back home?” Raph said to Erwin as they got off the carriage.
“No thank you. We can sort the job out and then I will be off.” Erwin replied.
The three of them went into the guild and Raph completed the job with one of the staff, he got 1 gold coin for returning Erwin safely. While Raph was completing the job, Clark got his own adventurers card certifying him for jobs. After everything was sorted they bade farewell to Erwin and he left for the other side of the city.
“Alright Clark, here’s your cut.” Raph said as he handed 50 silver over to clark.
Clark looked at Raph surprised. “Uhh boss, I can’t accept that, it was your job.”
“Don’t be ridiculous, I couldn’t have done it without you kid.” Raph said as he pushed the money into his hand. “Really, thank you. You helped me out a lot today.”
“I should really be thanking you, I have a class now and a good one at that.” Clark said, rather embarrassed.
“Alright Clark it’s late but how about we meet back here in a few days and see if there are any jobs we can take?” Raph proposed.
“Really? You still want to work with me?” Clark asked.
“Of course, today was good.” Raph said.
After everything was sorted out Raph made his way home, but first he stopped at The Lucky Pony for some dinner. He had a great meal, then went home to rest for the night.
