After I finished recounting what I remembered, the principal seemed to get lost in thought. Mr. Grey gave me a blank stare, and I couldn’t read him like usual. The principal eventually told me, “Since you are awake now, I’m going to get these restraints off. Grey can you come with me out in the hall? We need to discuss some things.”
The principal released me out of the restraints, and he put his hand on Mr. Grey’s shoulder as they walked out into the hallway. Why did I have restraints on me anyway? I rubbed my wrists to get back the blood circulation that was lost because of the restraints, and I sat up in the bed and stretched my legs. I heard the door open to the medical room again, and I expected the principal and Mr. Grey to come back in but that wasn’t the case. Jane was the one that walked into the room with me. “Why are you still here?” I wondered out loud.
“I’m your neighbor, and neighbors help each other where I’m from. That and that principal asked me to stay.” she answered, “Besides, You’re an interesting guy. Why did you never say that you had a power? I could have swore that you told me that you were a sagaru when we first met. I thought that was pretty cool to be honest. Since I’m from the country, I have never saw a sagaru before, but I’m pretty close to one my power level is so low haha! I was only able to get that apartment and into my college because of my parents.”
I looked at her with a confused an annoyed look. What is she talking, and doesn’t she know that teasing me right now just isn’t the right time? “I am a sagaru.” I told her in an annoyed tone.

It was her turn to look confused now as she asked, “What do you mean? You seemed to be one of the most powerful people I have seen in my life.”
“What is this girl talking about?” I thought to myself.
Before I could ask her what the hell she was talking about, the principal and Mr. Grey walked back into the room. The principal saw Jane and up-beat said, “Oh, hello Jane! I was just about to call you back in here. Grey this is Jane, Khan’s neighbor I told you about.”
Mr. Grey nodded his head toward her as the only acknowledgment of her existence to him, and he looked back to me after that. The principal proceeded to talk with Jane again saying, “Jane do you mind if Khan can stay with you for a while. I know this is a bit sudden but his parents are currently out of town for a while, and he needs to stay here for his studies. Don’t worry we will help provide you with the means to buy extra food and supplies for him to live with you. We’ll talk to the land lord for you. It seems like you are familiar with each other too, so it won’t be that bad.”
Jane seemed to hesitate a bit, and she said, “Umm…I don’t know if I can or not. My parents are the ones that pay for the house, so I’ll have to ask them. Even if they accept, I’ll need a day to clean up my apartment. I’m sure they would allow it if you asked them principal, but why not just ask the couple that lives next to him? I’m sure they won’t mind.”
I was reminded then, of how that same couple abandoned me when I asked them for help. Animosity rose up within me, and I told the principal, “I know that beggars can’t be choosers right now, but I won’t stay with them.”

“Hmm…Fine, Jane let’s go outside to call your parents.” The principal said, almost unphased by my hard rejection of the other neighbor idea.
Jane and the principal walked out into the hallway leaving only Mr. Grey and I in the medical room. There was an awkward silence for about thirty seconds until Mr. Grey said something to me. He looked at me and said, “I know how it feels…to lose what seems to be everything. The whole world seems to get darker, and you don’t feel like doing anything. You just want to hide away from the world. I’m not good at consulting people and helping them emotionally. I can only tell you what I did to help go through it. I don’t know if it’s the best way to deal with it, but I just lost myself in work and training. From dawn until dusk, I trained relentlessly to make sure I could protect everyone close to me. I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights, and I still do. This is something that will live with you forever, but you have to move on sooner or later. You can’t stay living in the past because you’ll miss out on future opportunities and the people still alive that care about you. I don’t know how you can somehow move on from this horrible incident, but I know that you’ll find a way. This is a turning point in your life. I know it. The question is…Will this break you or will you overcome this and come out stronger?”
I turned my head from him back to the ground as I thought about his words. What am I going to do to move on with my life? How canI move on with my life after something so gruesome? I have so many emotions spinning around in my head right now. I just want to lay down and think things out. “We’re back!” The principal said as he and Jane walked back into the room.
“It’s settled.” He told me, “You are going to be staying with Jane for a little while, and you will stay there today. I managed to convince her to allow you to stay tonight too as long as you help clean up. You don’t have to stay the rest of the day at school. From what I’ve heard from Jane, you have a lot of cleaning to do. You are discharged to leave now. I suggest you get to work as soon as possible. I’ll talk to the landlord before you get there to get that situation sorted.”
I got up from the bed and stretched my appendages, and Jane leaned toward me and whispered, “It’s not that bad.”
I gave her a cautious look. If someone says that, that usually means it really isthatbad. I got my bookbag, and as we were walking out of the room, I heard Mr. Grey say, “I expect you to be at school tomorrow.”
Oh yeah, I have to come up with some explanations to give to Via, Zen, and the others.

Until You Do It Right
The world ended on December thirty-first of the year two thousand and twenty, precisely at the stroke of midnight. The human race began to be systematically exterminated by the spawn of the System. We were given a chance to defeat them, to take back our place at the top of the food chain. We failed. The first to perish were those who bravely rebelled. The soldiers. The defenders. One by one, they fell. In their final moments, they begged for aid. Nobody replied. The next to succumb were those who feebly cowered. The deniers. The leeches. Together, they fell. In their final moments, they cried out into the darkness. Countless voices replied in kind. The last to decline were those who shamelessly ran. The deserters. The cowardly. Alone, they fell. In their final moments, they whimpered quietly. There was nobody left to answer. The final human to die was a survivor. A runner. As he died, he begged for salvation. His prayers were answered. He was offered a chance to save himself, along with all of humanity, and he took it. This is his story. “I sat in the dark and thought: There’s no big apocalypse. Just an endless procession of little ones.”― Neil Gaiman, Signal to Noise. I am absolutely new to writing and will take any and all constructive criticism. Please give feedback, it is greatly appreciated. I will update the tags as they change, and I hope that you enjoy this little story I'm writing! Quick warning: Seamus is intentionally a flawed character, and this story is going to explore those flaws and perhaps even change a few of them. I do not agree with all of his actions, but it is what it is.
