《Immortal World》Book 3 - Chapter 52

"OK, what's your deal?" I had agreed to this whole thing because it seemed the easiest thing to do. That and the fact we didn't really have a choice. Though staring at the woman, had me rethink the entire thing. I did not understand what her storyline was supposed to be.
She was a short plump woman, with long brown hair, heavily styled, and tied up in a bun under a massive lace hat, that itself was covered in flowers. Not to mention her dress, that matched, was large and frilly, covered in yellow and white flowers, with a long stem and open petals. Looked like Poppy flowers. Would make sense if they were. Seeing as her name was Poppy. The outfit did not look practical at all in a fight. In fact, it looked like it would actively hinder any movement in a fight. I swear I think she's wearing a corset.
The entire time we've been in the room she's just been sneering and looking me up and down with disgust. I hated her instantly.
"I am a lady and your teacher." Poppy sniffed, "But seeing your attire, I can see there is much work to be done."
"Really?" This was the storyline she was going with? Turn me into a proper lady.
"I beg your pardon." She said affronted.
Instead of beating around the bush, I said it directly, "You're really going to have to teach me to be a proper lady storyline"
She was flustered, for a moment before gathering herself to look offended, "Why I never. I am here to teach, at great cost to myself I might add, and as a favor to our illustrious city lord."
I could only roll my eyes, "Yeah. Sure. Whatever. So, what are you going to teach me?" I asked not really expecting much. Would she show me the proper way to drink tea or something?
"The proper way to fight."

Of all the things she could have said that wasn't what I was expecting, "Proper way to fight? Is this going to be how to fight socially? A coy smile here. A whisper there. Because, no. Just, no."
She looked surprised by my answer. Even letting out a small chuckle, "While those are important skills for a lady to have, very important, to the point I would try to teach you anyway. Sadly, I am not allowed." She let out a long disappointed sigh, "Though it can be uncouth, violence is a necessary part of life."
Now I was curious, "So how does a lady fight? With her umbrella?" I couldn't help but prod the woman. "Or perhaps by throwing a pot of teas? Or is it with flowers? What could you mhmm" My voice suddenly muffled, the rest of my body locked up frozen in place? It felt hundreds of hands were inside my body grasping my muscles, and locking me in place.
I could barely move as I felt more and more hands grab onto me. I looked over to see Poppy stand and gently wipe off her dress and straighten her hat. "A proper lady does not sully her hand with violence."
I could feel something closing my airway. At first, I was too surprised to fight now I needed to otherwise I would fall unconscious, or worse. I focused on the power holding me and began to reach out with my own mana grasping it like I would any foreign entity and began to rip it out. Only to find my grasp on the woman's power tenuous, my own metaphorical hands not able to grab purchase. My eyes widened and I began to panic as I frantically grasped, at the power, only able to grab a small piece, and began to rip and tear the foreign energy. But it was too slow. I could already see black around the edges of my vision.

The entire time Poppy was just watching me, her frown deepening, "And by the way you are trying to free yourself. I can tell you are like a wild animal, but we can make a lady of you yet."
If I could spare the energy to focus on her I'm sure I would be angry, but I could only focus on freeing myself. I continued to tear at the power, but when I touched an area I was sure should be free, I found new energy. The bitch was repairing it. Did she want to kill me? I got a look at the woman as she held me and she smirked as she brought up a cup of tea to her mouth. Where did she get that? That was the only thought I had before I blacked out still tearing away at the mana, focusing on my airway. The bitch didn't even have the courtesy to keep me conscious as she gloated.
I know because I came to as she was halfway into some lecture about being a lady. I must have freed my throat just enough to breathe as I was blacking out, else I wouldn't have come to so quickly.
What was this asshole's deal with being a lady? Is it some weird fucking theme for the show? Was she compensating for something?
I was beyond pissed off, my anger had turned cold, and I began to carefully unravel her bindings.
The rest of the day Poppy just kept spouting nonsensical saying about being a proper lady. While keeping me restrained. "A lady does not use vulgar language." I wanted to shout back at her but the entire time she kept an iron grip on my vocal cords to make sure I couldn't say a word back.
Not to say the entire day was a waste. I did begin to learn how to free myself from someone locking my muscles. Though when she started to puppet my body, to sit and have tea with her. I saw white, and when I came to I saw a streak of reading coming from her nose, and mouth. I don't know what I did, but that was one of the most satisfying things to have done.
"Looks like I need to up the challenge." She said with contempt, as she took a handkerchief out and wiped away the blood. No doubt fully healing the wound, and a matter of seconds you would never know anything happened. I felt a hundred more hands-on me this time all of them grabbing hard causing pain. It was all I could do to just force a loosened grip on them, and let my blood flow.
"Now do you understand how a lady fights?" She asked me disrupting my concentration. I felt all my muscles cramp up.
"Fuck!" What I could talk about?
"That didn't answer my question."
"Go fuck yourself!" I spat at the woman. She wasn't teaching me anything. Not even how to fight like a lady she was just reaching into me and locking me in place.
"By the end of this, you will understand." Poppy stood and headed out the door.
"Understand what? You're just a sick sadistic bitch!" I shouted at the woman as she left. It was all I could do, still locked into place. With her gone the energy was still holding but I found it surprisingly easy to remove, now that no one was repairing it. It still took me a few minutes, to free myself before I fell to the ground. Still feeling like someone was grasping inside of me. It was not pleasant.
Tiredly, I stood and left the room. I wanted to beat the shit out of that Poppy woman but knew she would be gone. So instead I headed back to my rooms to try and get some rest.
