《I'm A Monster, A Harpy》Chapter 19 - Energy Shockwave

It's been a few hours ever since Ariara decided on a plan, it's been pretty quiet since. A few Vikings have headed in as is routine to challenge the weakened dragon, and one by one they've all been defeated and thrown out with great strength. These demi-humans have decided, they won't be moving camp until they can beat him one on one until one of them can, it's a matter of honor now for these Vikings, even if the dragon is starting to weaken from famine.
There's a sound of crunching snow from somewhere within the camp, the Vikings all turn to see nothing where they heard the noise. Curious, one approaches the small pile before ruthlessly slashing at the ground with its axe. The hit only shows the blood of snow, nothing but it showing on the axe's slice range.
With its worries removed he turns to head back, only to yell in pain when, from below, a spear trudges outward, piercing through its leg skin and outwards from another side of the right leg that's been pierced.
There are more yells as three more Vikings shout in pain, each being thrust at from underground, a hidden enemy taking attacks at them. With more howls of pain, the Vikings start to panic, twice the amount of spears thrusting upwards, unbeknownst to them the Kobolds using their spare spears to attack more, trying to feint having more people than they have.
However, this is just a distraction. Flying down at high speed through the snowstorm as the sun is dawning on the day, a bloody sundown it will be. With the moon starting to show it's side the Harpy lands, making a loud crunching noise on the snow as her talons attack to the ground. With a bit of stuttering, she immediately notices a few weapons already pointed at her, although some are distracted by the mole enemies these are trained men.

With a screech she uses one of her least used skills, mana starts rushing in the air towards the Harpy, multiple Vikings gasping in surprise at the mana leaving their body. A few cross bolts are shot but with a painful screech, they're sent flying to the ground, a shockwave of powerful mana leaving the Harpy which is left in pain, the Vikings being sent flying all around the place, snow being shaved off to uncover the underground tunnel she's made for the kobolds to shuffle around inside, and the fake snow structures to fool some who would stab at the first thing they'd see budge out.
Falling to her knees she blinks a few times, feeling her eyes wet she puts a wing to touch them with her feathers, discovering blood coming out of her eye pulps and mouth, a bad sign. She's feeling dizzy and left missing something, a quick check of her sheet immediately shows the whole problem.

Alas, Ariara isn't able to check out everything new in her sheet as she sees some of the humanoids rushing at her, stumbling backward from her crouching position only to fall on the snow, with the Kobolds fighting together some of the strugglers from the blast she's left defenseless to the nearest Axe-Wielding Brute, a small flashback jointing her memory from the day she's awakened, she's as defenseless as before...
Before the axe is brought down on her though, a loud roar fills the area, with fast jumps a creature jumps before Ariara, with a powerful wing the Viking's axe is stopped in the act and the demihuman, dazed by this strong block, is thrown away by a powerful gust of wind started by the same wing that stopped the attack.
Looking up at her savior with bloody eyes Ariara sees a gentle smile, two red eyes with a fiery determination fill the head of a dragon the color of fire and clouds, with a paw he seems to help Ariara lay down, worried about her wellbeing before moving up, with a big roar he flaps his wings and starts flying upwards, in less than a second fire coming out of his throat, aimed at the Vikings that dare to stand up. With aid from above, the Kobolds are freed from their enemies, immediately rushing over to the Harpy and look with uncertainty.
What could they do? Looking at her, they can't see any injury the blood is coming out of, instead, the monster only being able to see them panic around her as her vision starts to blur out, she's tired from digging, moving in the harsh weather and... Whatever happened when she tried using that mana skill...

Hero
Kuren is just your average boy. He's just been asleep for one thousand years. Heroes and grand epics. Kuren doesn't have the time to think about things like that, nor does he really care. Join Kuren as he wanders the fantasy land of Alurca in search of his lost memories and the reasons behind his lengthy slumber. This is sort of a reboot of Anomaly, the first novel I tried to write. I gave up Anomaly after going to college. I thought about going back to it, but... when I look at it now, it's not very good. It was very edgy and not much substance behind that edge. The story wasn't quite going anywhere since I hadn't given the main character a goal. I had planned out a story, but I forgot to to plan out the details between the beginning and end. So this one's for real. Hopefully you won't be disappointed.

Dauntless: Origins
Snow white hair, blue eyes, pale. Devil, monster, mutt, failure. This story follows one Tyr Faeron, crown prince, heir primus and mass murderer. A wrathful, angry, and lost young man that has made it his goal to hunt down the men that killed his mother - and he is on the cusp of finishing the promise he'd made before her cairn stones so many years ago. On the surface he is duplicitous, whimsical, and base of cunning - but within the depths beyond the many masks he wears, something is waiting. Waiting for an end, the end he'd come to long for, whether it be to himself or any possible threats in his vicinity. After that long labor of vengeance is completed... Nobody knows, not even him - an arrogant and otherwise solitary individual with nothing in the way of friends - only the brothers of the blackguard who follow him through life as he pursues this mission. He was born a prince, but he'd be called a disappointment - failing to manifest the great power that he was born to before being summarily discarded by his father, a 250 year old 'primus'. That word again... Men who can shatter mountains and level cities, that's what he was supposed to be. Some call them demi-gods, all Tyr sees is a poor excuse for a parent. Time had made him bitter, cruel, and arguably psychotic - seeing only enemies wherever he looks. They'd come for him, too, one day - to wipe the slate clean and make room for another - and it's his conviction to ensure that he dies while taking as many of those rats with him. This is a story about finding acceptance, growth, and understanding - from the point of view of a cold and brutal individual who wears many masks. Of someone who was born to be the greatest emperor the eastern continent has ever seen - but he failed in that. Strong, yes, but only in the context of a man - Tyr's magic is weak. His convictions are weak. He has been made a beast of instinct by loss and a constant confronting of his own impotency in the face of his father. A mythos that stretches across planes, of magic, a pantheon of cruel gods. Of someone who's dedicated his entire mind to the art of killing a man, and none to living a normal childhood or coming to understand friendship, empathy, or compassion. The first five years of his life a mystery, a hole none have ever been willing to fill, leaving him warped and twisted. His formative years gone and what must've been most of his humanity along with it. Now 17, he is on the cusp of leaving the city he'd never been permitted to leave for what might be the first time in his life. Always searching, though he won't know what for, for some time. An episodic that follows experience and symbolism rather than a never ending series of battles - where the conflict lay in constantly searching for wholeness in lieu of great villains or heroes. This is where it all started, the origin, the tale told a million times - and yet it hadn't been, 'reality' is tricky like that. The greatest lie ever told by the tongue that speaks is that any of this was real at all.
