《Do The Wyrm》Chapter 1.2: First Songs and Sights

Spider's are a natural enemy of the wyrm, any arachnid monster and any wyrm monster. When meeting for the first time, will automatically attack each other on sight. Many suspect this is due to the wyrms natural ability to multiply in vast numbers, leading to yearly waves of monsters that disrupt local ecosystems and leave little prey to arachnid monsters, who are often the most affected by these waves.
Of course, many clerics believe that the reason both creatures fight is simply due to the god Loki's twisted sense of humor. And that while arachnid monsters are the sole domain of Loki, wyrms are their and the Earth Mothers twisted offspring.
Often leading to cults of Loki killing them, percieving them as unnatural abominations. In fact, half the bounties on wyrms are often partially funded by the Temple of Loki.

A wave of pain flooded through the wyrm like a tidal wave.
Like a wave of unending salt and water that would drown anyone it touched. This release of pain flooded and drowned the wyrm in an inescapable darkness.
Then the wyrm's sight returned, and it gazed upon the destruction around it. It had fallen off the emerald wyrm when the attack from those creatures hit. Dozens of wyrms and several creatures lay around it. Some still twitching but most torn asunder. Just patches of skin that had once cloaked many of them, their bloody insides covering the floor.
Half the wyrms and those creatures in the room were feasting on the suddenly available pieces of food, while the other half fought to increase their share.
What had once been two distinct and clear sides fighting for survival had turned into a free for all where your only ally was yourself.
The wyrm also discovered a new emotion, or feeling. Something that gave it pause. It wanted to eat the vague bloody thing coming out of one of its brethren.
Was that weird?
For the average observer this would've been common, monsters were known to cannibalize their brethren on various occasions. Normally when they were starving. And the wyrm currently being observed was seriously starving.

Had it had access to its menu(it did) it would've been able to observe that it had been afflicted with the hunger status effect.
This was nothing serious, many small children around the world were reguarly affected by this status. It was a sign of a growing and normal child. It was nothing strange for most people.
A wyrm experiencing hunger for the first time in the middle of a life or death brawl between its siblings, massive spiders, and thrown corpses was not nothing strange. It was very strange.
As for the wyrm, it held little reservation about slithering forward and politely helping itself to some delicious muscle tissue. It was already willing to kill many of its brethren for getting in its way. So eating their corpses when it was hungry wasn't that much of a leap.
As the wyrm helped itself to a piece of particularly large piece of melted together bladder and muscle. Two behemoths of power smashed against each other.
The massive dust spider(it has a name now!) bit deep into the emerald wyrm, flooding its veins with poison. But with a flex of its muscles. The spiders fangs shattered in an instant, a large white number flew out of its wounds. Along with a small river of blood.
As it stumbled back from the surprise attack, the emerald wyrm attacked with its secret skill.
Nature Smash: use your bulk and deal medium life damage with your vitality fueled bulk!
While the wyrm didn't know what half of that meant, its first usage had shielded it from the majority of the spiders first attack.
Its body suddenly filled with energy, its bulk swelled in metaphysical and actual size and strength. Its body blurred as it swung forward and smashed its side straight into the spider.
The monster was sent flying, crashing into a wall on the far end of the cavern in an instant.

The spiders body crummpled to the ground, blood flowing out of its crippled body, several paper thin bones poking out of it.
The creatures legs slowly rose up, each one pointing to another, till all of them were barely touching each other.

The emerald wyrm was distracted when it recieved a new notification.

The emerald wyrm let out a screech as a surprise attack tore into it.
Was it our intrepid wyrm?
No! That guy was still eating.
Instead, a large dark green wyrm torn a chunk of flesh from the emerald wyrm, pale blue blood spilled out like a waterfall, covering both the emerald wyrms attack and the floor as the emerald wyrm collapsed to the ground.
You Have Been Poisoned With Dust Spider Venom!
The emerald wyrm was confused, first of all what was a dust spider. And second of all, why now?
For the average joe, this was equally confusing. But Dust Spiders were notorious for not only their much more deadly evolutions.
But their brutal poison, practically undetectable unless the healer is experienced or has a powerful enough skill or ability.
People who'd worked with poison could easily turn this venom into a deadly toxin perfect for stealth eliminations.
It was a well known and surprisingly common toxin nicknamed 'Old Dusty'. By both victims and users of the poison.
The raw version was much more potent, at the cost of being easier to spot and acting faster.
But it wasn't fast enough to save the Dust Spider.
But in death, it helped a large dark green wyrm tear into the emerald wyrm. Gore painted its mouth as it tore into the wyrm. Flesh and several chunks of various organs lined the dark green wyrms teeth.
The emerald wyrm let out a scream of pain, the voice being lost in the torturous screams and roars as various other monsters tore each other to shreads.
But it did reach a tiny rambunctious wyrm who had decided that the emerald wyrm was its mortal enemy. And it wouldn't have its kill stolen.
It charged forward, shooting forward at high speeds. Its form a blur as it shot forward and smashed straight into the dark green wyrm.
And did absolutely nothing.
That was bad.
How had this thing stood against its perfect attack?!
This was an outrage!
Thinking fast, it heard the emerald wyrms scream as a large faint number flew above the dark green wyrm.

The wyrm was nearly dead.
Oh heck Na!
The wyrm searched its mind for anything that could distract the larger wyrm, anything that would let it kill steal its kill stealing.
So kill returning?
Name was still being debated.
As the enemy wyrm leaned back to launch a brutal killing blow. Through decapitation no less.
Our resident music loving wyrm attempted to distract the large monster by singing the song that absolute jerk had before ignoring its plea's to continue.
A single eldritch note came out of its mouth, flesh tore from its mouth, scales broke from its throat. Blood hacked out of its mouth.
-17
More than half its HP had been lost from uttering the beginning note.
However, it had gotten the wyrmss attention, it had gotten every wyrms attention actually.
The tiny wyrm suddenly had many thousands of eyes and other organi sensors pointed straight at. For a minute, fear seized its incredibly small heart.
But that didn't last for a second. Now, every wyrm would know of its power!
All of them would know fear, and beg for it to kill them! For this wyrm was far superior than the rest!
It puffed out its blood covered chest(its own blood) And let out a screech of terror!
A more spine chilling roar came out, an eldritch corruption turning the once harmless and even cute roar into a spine chilling symphony.

Joshua Durand has always lived in someone else’s shadow, a side character in someone else’s show. His brother was the real hero of the tale, or he was until his ‘friends’ stabbed him in the back. Now though, he’s got a chance to step into the spotlight, as long as he’s willing to make a deal with the devil. He doesn’t know if this is the right decision or the wrong one, but what he does know is “It’s showtime!” --- This is forum quest story taking place in the same city/setting as my other stories: The Huntsman's Quest and Hacking Reality stories meaning that while a majority of the plot is made up by me, the major choices as well as what each chapter is about are usually made by the actual readers in forum votes. Additionally, given how this is essentially a story version of a Tabletop game there is also a background RPG system that while the characters aren't necessarily aware of, the readers can see these stats to know how each chosen 'Action' effects their character's development.
