《The System》Chapter 8: He Saw Nature

Peter had one attribute point available, he didn’t know how his stats were determined, and if he was average or under average. What he did know was that next to luck his lowest attribute was endurance. With a bitt of willpower he focused on the END symbol, and a small description box popped up.
END
ENDURANCE
Endurance is the force that keeps going.
For those that need to persevere.
Current:
5 END
Add 1 attribute point? Y/N
Thinking that he’d probably need to run at some point, he choose yes. The box went away, and nothing happened. But Peter couldn’t believe it, his status clearly said 6 END, so something must have happened.
Trying to keep his frustration at bay, Peter activated his reflection skill. His mind immediately calmed down, and then he realized one crucial thing. He needed to keep himself alive, and he needed three things for that: Food, water, and a safe place to sleep. He just had to keep going towards the stream he saw early, because water was his main priority. It was quit early in the day so he would look for a place to sleep when he arrived at the stream. Food could wait, the human body could go without food for a pretty long time, but he would look for things to eat while walking.
With a groan Peter got up from his nice patch of moss, and started walking. Walking was pretty boring, after an hour Peter’s mind began wandering. How Peter got the thought, nobody knows, but he somehow thought that magic would be possible in this strange new world. It could’ve been a bit of leftover weed clogging his rational capabilities, but in a way he was right. Without knowing Peter entered a state of reflection, the old trees and the lack of immediate danger soothing him into a meditative state. Every step he took connected him to the world, all his thoughts leaving him.

He felt something primal in the forest, he didn’t notice it before but something filled the air. Something mystical. Acting on instinct he reached out with his mind.

Two seconds later he was wide awake. His mind thunderstruck, reeling with the impact of the unknown. No, he should call it the impact of nature. He saw a very small part of it, yet it left him speechless. The skill he was granted was useful as well. Now he didn’t have to worry about dying from food poisoning.
But now was not the time to experiment, and so Peter started walking again. He could vaguely hear the stream after a while, a nice soothing sound. He hadn’t encountered any more monsters, but Peter was still pretty on edge. This world was dangerous, that was a simple fact he discovered only one minute after his arrival.
Finally, he arrived at the stream. Crystal clear water zigzagged through the forest, he could see a couple of fish swimming, and he even saw in the distance an animal that looked like a deer drinking. Peter quickly got on his knees and drank some water, he didn’t even know he was so thirsty till the could water hit his throat. With big gulps Peter quenched his thirst, shifting towards a more comfortable position he looked around. There was a small bush with bright blue berries just a few meters away from him, he walked towards it and tried to listen to his intuition, utilizing the skill he had recently acquired. It seemed safe to eat, so he plucked a couple of berries from the bush and swallowed them.

The first few seconds everything felt okay, then he began to sweat. A minute later, Peter lost his consciousness.

Re: (Union//Incarnation)
Two years ago, a meteor fell and decimated the southeastern lands of Gaia, turning them into wastelands constantly shrouded in white fog. None of those who saw the blazing calamity with their own eyes lived to tell the tale, and those who attempted to venture in never came back. Since then, towers, caverns, and ruins have appeared and disappeared without a pattern. Those who were brave enough to venture in were rewarded with a partner capable of defying the natural laws as humanity knows it. People started to call them ‘Incarnation’, and before long, more and more Incarnation were gathered and sold as commodity, especially after a billionaire has sponsored a fighting tournament offering cash prizes to those possessing the strongest Incarnation, spurring the greedy and desperate to hunt for the fabled creatures at the cost of their lives. Claire Saphira wanted none of that. She simply wished for a life where she could live without worry of her own survival. As she ran from the debt collectors for the umpteenth time, she was swallowed by an errant tower, where she saw a frail, pale-skinned girl with ashen hair hung by chains. It was a chance, a chance to participate in the tournament and live without worrying about survival. Yet, something nagged in the back of her mind. Why did she look so familiar? Planned release schedule: One chapter every day for Mon-Fri, and a break on Sat-Sun. The release will slow down at some point, but most likely won't go under 3 chapters a week.
