《Totem Master: A Spiritual Adventure》A Promise

Hethara heard the prayers of her followers working to answer everyone. She heard the voice of Hellen, and so she cast her eyes there. She watched in horror as they seemed ready to triumph, only for the tides to turn.
Hethara watched as Sarah her faithful who had become a vampire after her party had been wiped out raced forth. Hoping to make it to the man that could cure her of this affliction.
Though most of them were not her faithful. They were still people deserving of being loved. Hethara watched as Jacob suffered, as his friends died, and their souls were consumed by the darkness of the dungeon. She watches as he struggled trying to stand and failed. Only finding his back to the literal and metaphorical wall.
She wept for him, she wished she could be there for him. He opened a door and got away from the boss. He was crawling toward the stairs. She knew that in his heart he was resentful of here. Asking, “Why did she do nothing?”
She heard as he prayed, but she could do nothing. She felt she should speak to him, but she had not the words. She saw as that thought crossed his mind. ‘No! Please don’t do this!’ she thought even as he set his mind to it, she spoke to him begging him to stop.
“It will be ok Jacob. We can figure this out. Please don’t do this!” But he gave no response. Even as the other gods rallied against him, ready to strike him down. She tried to shield him. But they were too strong, they were too many.
She watched as he completed his spell and spoke to the world. All gods felt as she spoke, all gods felt as his magic gripped time itself. Then it turned back the course of time.

She watched as his very soul was erased, over and over again. Every second he turned back cost him everything. Caused him untold agony. Yet this did not stop him. He tread back ever farther.
She watched as he undid their deaths. But further still he tread. She wept for could not hold him. She could not comfort him. No matter how she wished to.
She watched as he finally relented, allowing time to resume its natural course. But he had succeeded in his goal, he had changed the past. He had done it!
Hethara remembered her faithful deeper down the dungeon. Her and her party were in a losing battle, but they were still alive! So, she ordered the leader of the party, Sarah, “Retreat! My champion needs aid upon the first floor, you cannot win this fight hurry!” She watched as one by one they died. She grieved for each of their deaths.
She saw the movements of the system as it took its programed actions against him. It tried to slay him, but his life was without end. It could not simply slay him like any other mortal.
She saw it running through different alternative punishments. A screen appeared before her. ‘A poll?’ Votes poured in as the other gods, of good and evil voted upon his fate.
She voted to spare him, only one other chose to do so, Carthus. When the poll ended, his fate had been decided by majority decision. A ban from the system, and exile to the plane of void.
Hethara felt numb inside, even as the tears rolled down her cheeks. She had regained one of her lost congregation, only to lose the one she loved. She watched as he fell. The screaming doorway opened beneath him. She could see his anger and his joy, and then he was gone.

She watched as his time ran out and he gave his last breath trying to make that dark world just a little brighter that it had been. 12 small stars were born. Within them she felt a bit of her own divine magic.
She watched as the void came for them, came for him. She heard him pray, “I’m sorry my lady. I am sorry Hethara. I failed to keep my promise.”
She felt someone standing beside her she turned and there was Carthus. She shivered as the cold gaze of death fell upon her. She turned and there was Athes. She smelled fresh cut grass and the coolness of spring, and there was Koranum.
They all said together, “What are we going to do?”

Thrown back into the 'Real World', but now with access to his own stats and those of others Jamie must undertake a series of quests in order to level up and advance, and figure out just what in the name of all that is unholy is going on. Which is the real world? Is he in a game? A simulation? And who actually is his online friend Barry. Inspired greatly by the MUDs of the 90s, many of the aspects will be familiar to those who experienced the joys of text adventures, MUSHs, MURPEs, MUDs, modern MMORPGs or just some good old fashioned cybering with a 17/f/Cali who was anything but. This humorous, harem LitRPG story is the first story by experienced author Jamie Haremie under this pen name. Jamie has previously written horror and romance (sometimes together!) as well as tons and tons of riveting TPS reports. (Late 90s cultural reference? CHECK).
