Jack made his best and grouped up most of the humans that escaped from the clutches of the demon, some didn't listen to him and just run away but most of them stayed.

Now he moved with the group to the center where the humans that were under the demon gathered, around 100 armed humans that come with him, 350 of the humans that defected, and 10 awakened humans under Jack´s lead they went to the fortress.

It didn't take long and they arrived before the wall of the fortress, 2,5 meters (8ft 3in) and about 1 meter thick (3ft), most of the wall was like that but there were places where the wall was torn down even before the mana came, those places such as the gate were remade using the tools that they had but the quality was subpar.

Several second circle spells or one-third circle one could make a hole in the gate in no time, same for the similar body rank.

Sadly Jack´s body was only at the beginning of the second rank, he had awakened brain and that's why he mostly focused on the mana, still, he didn't let his body down and regular exercise, together with the resources extracting technique he made it to the second rank but his progress with the body strength is very slow.

Jack stood before the gate, many of the humans in the fortress could be seen peeking at the incoming enemy. While activating the aura, he was trying to make anyone who still didn't decide to join him "WE CAME HERE TO LIBERATE YOU, JOIN US AND WE WILL KILL THE DEMON TOGETHER!"

There was no response, Jack thought to himself ´well that's not bad, they listen so let's get moving from there´

So far the plan was to try and recruit them, if that won't work then it will be a confrontation but with the number of enemies and theirs defenses that option doesn't look good.

For this reason, if the previous options seem unlikely there is the last one that is to assassinate the leader to instill chaos and then leave to support the main group tasked with assassinating the demon.

If these humans don't agree to join them sadly, they will be considered outlaws and if captured they will be killed, with the society starting from scratch it's crucial to remove any rotten seeds from the start. But that will wait after they kill Jordan.

"JOIN US AND TOGETHER WE KILL THE DEMON, WE WILL RECLAIM THE TOWN AND PEACE WILL RETURN ONCE MORE"

Jane was looking from a window at the angel that was spouting bullshit before the gate, even though it was bullshit some of the people here believed it and that's what was bugging her.

She didn't believe in what the angel said and yet there was a bugging feeling inside her that was telling her to listen and consider the angel's word, ´is that some kind of ability? I should do something? but if I do I will expose myself... I will become a target and who knows what spells the angel has…´

Still, it looks like she doesn't have a choice, it's either that or letting the angel brainwash the weak-minded individuals. If those inside the walls try to change sides it could be a disaster, Jane saw what can Jordan do and if there is anyone on the other side with his strength they could basically take over the fortress and that is something she can´t allow to happen.

´hopefully, the reinforcements arrive soon, or at least arrive…´ Jane was one of the humans Jordan considered useful and that's why he told her about the escape plan, if things didn't work out she can just run away. ´I won´t do that, I won´t run away, I will fight for this place, it´s my home´

Jane stated her opinion in a letter and let one of the post-birds deliver it to headquarters where Jordan should get his hands on it, now she waits for a response that may and may not come.

If the fight is too difficult Jordan may run away and leave her here if that happens her fate will be sealed, 'well… at least the angels could grant me quick death…' that was the last thought Jane had before she stepped up on the wall opposite to the angel.

"WE DON'T WANT YOUR SALVATION WE WERE FINE AS WE WERE BEFORE YOU CAME IN BLABERRING ABOUT PEACE WHILE IT'S YOU THE ONE WHO IS ATTACKING"

Upon hearing that the angel was taken back, what Jane said was true and it took a moment for the angel to come with a comeback.

"Yes we are attacking, but we are attacking to free you and to free the city from the demon, even if he treats you nicely it's the only deception. He kills any outsiders and feasts on the fears of his victims, if we didn't come sooner or later you as well would become one of his victims!"

"you are full of SHIT! You don't know anything, we know what our leader is, he stated it clearly that anyone who isn't with us is against us, and unlike you, he accepted us in our time of need while you closed your gates and didn't let us in, and now when we created our new home here you wan-"

The exchange was fiercely proceeding and some of the humans that defected started to look guilty while some inside the walls were twitching, looking ready to defect, but before anyone could decide a person jumped before Jane.

Scared Jane stumbled and fallen on her butt but as she was falling the person that appeared horizontally slashed with what appeared to be a machete.

By stumbling Jane saved herself but the assassin didn't let the chance slip by, while slashing he adjusted the slash and cleanly cut off Jane´s left leg right under her knee cap.

Jane was screaming and the guard on the wall stormed in, one was dragging Jane away while others were trying to block the assassin, without the element of surprise gone the assassin wasn't that much of a thread but still, he managed to kill one guard before jumping down from the wall.

Jack quickly retreated, few arrows flew his way, but he easily evaded them or used raw mana to make them miss. Looking at the assassin he shook his head, he could clearly hear the woman screaming which proved that the attempt to kill her failed, with this, the humans will probably fight to avenge her instead of falling into chaos.

Simon the assassin came to Jack and said

"She stumbled that's why I missed, I didn't have time to finish her off but I cut off her leg… she may bleed out any second now"

"idiot… it doesn't matter we are retreating"

But just as they went back to another one of the awakened showed up and hurriedly said "THE DEMON he came here! And he brought an army of goblins that ride beasts!"

"WHAT? LET´S GO"

Jack and others quickly went and just in time to see a group of about 50 goblins riding second phase beasts decimating the human troops while demon with wings and was riding third phase beast which just killed an awakened with little to no effort.

Jack shouted, "THAT'S NOT HIM!"

But it was too late, the humans that defected were giving up, those that he brought along tried to fight and they managed to delay the attack but it wasn't enough, as for the awakened they were being picked out by the demon and were quickly disposed of.

Jane bit on the rug as James strangled her leg to stop the bleeding, Jane looked at the stump where her leg was and almost fainted ´I can´t, not until the battle is over…´

James was around 50 years old and white streaks already began to appear in his hair, before the mana came, he was a doctor.

Someone came running to them and shouted.

"The reinforcements are here! The goblin raiders attacked"

Jane tried to get up, but James stopped her and tried to force her to lie down but she was adamant in the end he begrudgingly helped her... there was no way to change her mind anyway.

Leaning against James´s shoulder while being ghostly white she said with a feeble but firm voice

"Everyone who has a weapon should go and support them!"

Seeing Jane's determination the old doctor nodded and repeated Jane´s words while shouting.

Around 500 humans run from the fortress and joined the battle, with this the battle became extremely one-sided.

William once again shocked the angel together with several goblins kept beating everyone with steel pipes, meanwhile his beast which he named Sam was standing nearby while chewing on a man who was still holding a machete even though half of his torso was bitten off.

The fight was quite fierce but quite one-sided, with the mobility of beasts the goblins quickly got near the humans, and with their superior strength that was in the second rank, they quickly gained upper hand on the battlefield.

As for the angel… the fight was over the moment William´s beast pinned the angel down, after that William jumped at the angel and kept shocking the angel with his newly developed spell named Taser.

Taser as the name hints is a stream of electricity that shock the target for several seconds making the target paralyzed, repeating the spell every few seconds was extremely mana draining but it was how William easily won the fight, and as the angel has quite a sturdy body William called few helpers.

The pipes were already bloodied, and finally, a crunching sound could be heard as the angel´s skull gave in. Seeing the brain hunger rose in William but he repressed it, first, he has to make sure Jane is alive, otherwise, Jordan would rip his balls off.
