The library and the fortress hall are connected so it was rather a short walk, Jordan quickly arrived at his subordinates/workers dwelling (the hall) and opened the doors, it was already evening and the humans were sitting around several fires, rats were being roasted and generally people were chatting between themself.

Some people were making improvised pillows and blankets from the cloth they were given, some were just chatting and enjoying the free time.

As Jordan opened the door the activity in the room died, slowly the survivors formed two rows with about a 2-meter wide opening, Jordan went in the opening and as he did everyone started to greet him "hello leader" "good evening leader" and so on.

Jordan´s mood was immediately better and he even gave some greetings back, he was quite pleased by this display of respect. Jordan made it to the end and there was the one woman he could recognize, it was the one woman that showed Jordan where the demons Jordan killed hid their stuff.

Now that she stood before Jordan he could properly look at her, before, he only carried her and didn't care much about her, she was about 1,7 meter (5 ft 7 in) tall and looked like she is the middle of her twenties

She had black hair that went to her shoulders and her body was almost too thin probably because of the terrible condition in which she was before, but she had meat where it counted, overall she was pretty.

"greetings leader, I am Jane Pinkerton and I was chosen as the representative" the woman bowed, and then all the other humans bowed as well "please treat us well!" as one of all the survivors shouted.

Seeing that Jordan´s good mood somewhat dimed, this little act made him feel a bit pressured to treat them well, but Jordan won´t be giving any different treatment to them, with still relatively good mood Jordan spoke to the humans "it good to see you are starting to speak a bit, anyway I will to treat you as you deserve, do a good job or at least give it your all and I will treat you well and the opposite as well but if you don't intentionally fail we will be alright."

The humans there looked around and with smiles they silently celebrated, Jordan "I will now discuss with your leader what Jobs there are, you will form groups and do your part while I will be going to clear the town´s plaza, our goal, for now, is to retake the plaza and build a wall around it, work hard and you can earn house there"

This time there was a small murmur besides smiling at each other, the thought of having a house at the walled-off plaza looked like a dream to them, with the situation as it was they were satisfied with surviving in acceptable conditions but Jordan has given them something to look forward to.

Jordan "also on every possible and secured area we will start growing corps, as of now, no one knows how the crops mutated but if we preserve, I am sure we can grow a steady supply of food"

Some murmur could be heard once again but the survivors already heard about the crops when the execution was happening so no surprise there.

With everything important said Jordan looked at Jane "come with me, I will give you the plans and tell you about everything in detail."

With this Jane and Jordan went to the library, as Jane got to the library she could help but gasp, most of the phase one beasts were already thrown out from the library so only those of the second phase were there, besides Sunny who could burn the building down so he was also moved away but that wasn't the reason why Jane gasped, the reason for this was the human skulls that were there as leftovers from several meals.

The gasp didn't evade Jordan's enhanced hearing, so he naturally asked, "what is it?" Jane "n.. nothing", Jordan thought ´ah.. this is annoying if she can´t tell me what´s wrong there is no need for her as representative´

Seeing that Jane is still scared Jordan spoke to her "listen and listen well, I allowed you to have a representative so you can tell me what bothers you so I can change it if you don't tell me what the problem is there is no need for you"

These words were a bit harsh but Jane got the message, she bit her lower lip for a moment and then spoke

"it´s the bones of dead humans, I was surprised to see them, that´s all"

Hearing that Jordan nodded "good, now we are getting somewhere but the bones… hahaha sorry I completely forgot about that" Jordan was a bit embarrassed and scratched the back of his head while saying that.

"you know even though I was human as you before I am more and more a demon with every passing day… I don't dislike it because I don't like humans all that much, some of the stuff such as corpses may be weird for you and no longer weird for me so inform me in time about it"

Jane was honestly surprised, she saw how Jordan ate the brain of the succubus, how he inhumanly fought and how he killed three humans in cold blood without even a speck of pity, also his huge build and somewhat scary smile didn't help him at all, but now he seemed almost like a normal human, although the things he was embarrassed about were obviously wrong.

After that Jordan and Jane made it to the office that Jordan considered as his room, there was already a map with the layout of the constructions that need to be done, this map was different from the one Jordan had with the layout of the plaza, on this map, there were only areas where the wall will be built, where houses need to be torn down for material and where will be small field and so on.

Jordan "this is a premature plan of construction, you can take the map and discuss it with others, if you think you can do some parts better do so but first inform me…"

Like that they discussed many things, the layout for construction was only one of them, there was also the matter of sorting the books in the library, the matter of who will lead files about the humans in the camp and many more.

One thing they discussed and to take note of was the succubus and her powers, Jane told Jordan how the succubus sucked the vitality out of any man and how many of the men died because of that, it was the reason for the high number of women that were now under Jordan, Jane also told Jordan everything she remembered and could be useful such as the abilities of the other two demons and so on.

As they neared the end of the discussion it was already deep night, Jordan "I don't have time to look over it because I will fight the beasts and other survivors it will be on you to look over all these matters, choose those that are reliable but be warned, those that misuse their position or betray me will be killed"

Jane "yes, I will rely that to them" it was about time she returns, others must be worried about what is in store for them, Jordan "ok so that will be all for now, you can return and inform them, if you have any more questions just find me, I will do the same if I need something"

Just before Jane went back to the hall, she stopped and looked at Jordan "there is one last thing, will you eat us?"

Jordan looked at her confused but still with a smile that could never leave him.

what? Why would I do that?"

"well… we saw how you ate the succubus brain and many of us are concerned"

"ah… so it´s about that, well if you saw me there is no point in concealing it, you will put two together once you learn about centers of power anyway. What I ate was the center of power, simply its where the mana gathers, as I am a demon I can to a certain amount increase my strength just by eating things rich on mana such as the center of power, I didn't want to do it but the boost it provides was very much needed for me. And I won´t be ever eating any of you, even if you awakened center of power, nurturing any of you to awaken center of power is much more expensive than just buying some mana rich material, but the corpses of enemies will be thrown to beasts, is that enough to ease your minds?"

Relieved Jane nodded "yes thank you, so I will return now, goodbye leader"

"bye"

As Jane went away Jordan sighed and finally stopped trying to maintaining his polite image, the things he talked about were his sincere thoughts and he wanted to have a good relationship with the humans but being nice was exhausting.

To relieve his mind Jordan slowly returned to practicing the mana shield as there was nothing better to do and practicing with eased his consciousness.

Sure, he could just laze around but the fights he had so far were not enough to make Jordan confident of being the strongest, and Jordan isn't prideful enough to think that he is the smartest, with that he has to make up for it with effort.
