He leans over the counter, idly twirling a pen in between his fingers. He wasn't really good at it, but at the very least it gave him something to kill time. But well, he had an idea. Not a good one – there's a large chance that he's going to be insulted in the process, but at the very least he was willing to give it a shot.

"Haven't solved it yet?" He asks of her, watching as she glances up from her little cove of scrap paper, notebooks, and chemistry textbooks. She fixes a blank glare on him, only intensifying when he takes a sip of his coffee and lets out a satisfied sigh.

"Don't you have anything better to do?" She snaps, bringing a lock of her hair past her ear while continuing to glare at him, "I'm doing something here."

"Yeah. Chemistry." He rolls his eyes at the look of confusion on her face. "I have eyes, thank you very much. Want some help with that?"

She blinks. "You know this stuff?"

"Been a few years since I last studied that stuff, so I'm a bit rusty." He nods. "So I'm all but useless in that department. What I do have is a calculator in my office. Could give you one if you want it... though why you're doing chemistry problems without a damn calculator, I don't know."

"I..." She trails off, flushing a second later as she rubs a hand over her face. "... Forgot about it in my friend's house. Sorry about that."

"You keep forgetting a lot of stuff." He calls out, opening the door to his office and quickly snatching a calculator on his desk. "I'm pretty sure you need to get that checked sometime in the future."

"Oh sod off." She snapped, though nonetheless thanking him as he slides the calculator over. "... Thanks for this, by the way."

"No problem." He waved off, "Just give it back before you leave. Don't want you to take it with you and accidentally forget where you got it."

He lets out a bark of laughter when she gives him the finger, causing him to shake his head and take another sip of his coffee. "Well, good luck with that. I'll be here just checking up on overdue books, so hit me up if you want something searched up."

Her face scrunches up. "You'd think that you'd have at least a computer terminal here."

"And what, have it be filled with viruses within a week?" He scoffs. "No thanks."

She blinks.

"Huh. You've got a point."
