《Overlord Fanfic》Chapter 22

The moment when the timer hits zero, the sound that indicates for them to start fighting had rung throughout the arena.
Yuki immediately rushed towards the Magic Caster while brandishing his spear.
On the other side, the Magic Caster, just like Yuki, acted fast as he leap backward to gain more distance. As if he knows that Yuki will immediately try to close distance with him the moment the round starts.
"... Ha. This bunch are too predictable. Thinking that this kind of thing always works against us. Stupid." Muttered by the Magic Caster before raising his arm towards the incoming Yuki.
"... Looks like I don't need to change my strategy huh?" The Magic Caster said before he readied himself to Cast a spell.
'... I just need to let him get a bit more closer before I cast [ Storm's Furry ].' He thought to himself while seeing the Incoming Yuki.
*Duksh!*
Yuki then suddenly, while running towards the Magic Caster, stomped hard on the ground, rocketing himself from his position towards the Magic Caster.
!!!
This very thing is a bit unexpected, but the Magic Caster, though surprised, still managed to react.
'... Now!' The Magic Caster shouted inside his mind as he started Casting the Spell he's preparing to cast.
"... [ Skill: True Silence ]." But before the Magic Caster could even do that, it seems that Yuki managed to cast something ahead of him.
"... [ Storm's Fury ]." The Magic Caster had also cast a spell at the same time, Yuki is just ahead by a second. But that second made already a big difference.
"... What!?" The Magic Caster finally reacted when he saw that nothing came out of the spell he had cast.
But that's the only reaction he can make as he can't forget about the fact that Yuki is already getting near him as moments goes by in a rapid pace. He thought that he need to gain a breathable distance first before analyzing what just happened to his spell.
"... Tch! [ Greater Teleportation ]— Huh?" The Magic Caster voiced out his confusion when the Teleportation Spell he had cast didn't work as well.
The Magic Caster finally gave in to his overloading curiosity as he looked at his console to see what's going on with his spells.
"... What the f*ck?" There, he saw the reason.
His [ Greater Teleportation ] Spell— no, not just that but every displayed Available spell on his console, all his spells, got grayed out. Meaning, for some reason, at this moment, it's all unusable.
"... What is happeni-" The Magic Caster wanted to know what is going on, but it seems that for a moment, he forgot the reason why he wanted to get out of his current spot in the first place.
*Swoosh*
Yuki, finally reached the Magic Caster as he appeared in front of him.
"... What's the problem Magic CASTER? Can't cast a spell? Oh well. TOO BAD!" Yuki said with a mocking tone before raising his Spear then thrusting it towards the Magic Caster's head.

*Shoou~!*
"... Kuk!" The Magic Caster had managed to narrowly dodge the attack by stumbling towards the ground. He did it with just nothing but pure reflex.
"... Sh*t!" The Magic Caster cursed as he hurriedly stands up.
But it seems that Yuki doesn't want to give him any time to breathe as before he could even fully stand up, he immediately made a follow-up attack.
!!!
The Magic Caster saw this, but he knows that he can't do anything about it. He just dodged Yuki's first attack, and that was nothing but pure luck. This time, Yuki's attack was faster and in a point-blank range, dodging is almost impossible.
*Taksh!*
But the moment when Yuki's spear hits him in the chest, for some reason, a smile on Magic Caster's face had appeared.
"... Huh?" Yuki saw that his spear failed to pierce through the Magic Caster. It only takes an instant for Yuki to realize that it's probably the Magic Caster's robe that protected him.
"... DIE!" Suddenly, immediately after that happened, the Magic Caster pulled a staff-looking item in his inventory then swung it hard towards Yuki.
A Magic Caster that can't cast a Spell is practically useless. A walking loot bag. But that's what it is in the past. Right now, Magic Casters had already made some countermeasures in that kind of situation. Not being able to cast Spells is a common scenario for them because the moment they exhaust their MP, that's what happens.
It's the same for Yuki's opponent.
What he's doing right now is one of those countermeasures. The artifact he had pulled out is probably effective against Yuki. He just needs to hit him with it.
*Thad!*
But there's a problem.
"... AGHK!"
Yuki is much faster than him.
Before he could even hit Yuki with the staff, he was already sent flying across the Arena. He's just too slow for close combat.
*Thud!*
*Thud!*
*Thud!*
The magic caster can't stop himself. He keeps bouncing across the Arena.
"... F*ck." The Magic Caster cursed as he hurriedly take something out of his Inventory.
"... Use item. [ Stabilize ]." In an instant after that, the Magic Caster stopped. Like what's happening to him a moment ago is a lie.
It's all thanks to the Magic Item that he used. It's because of that, he managed to regain balance just on time.
"... That's close." The Magic Caster said as he looks down below the edges of the Arena, that's also a few inches away from where he's standing.
He was glad that he managed to stop himself immediately. He knows that if he is late at least by a second, he will surely fall in the waters.
"... *Sigh* That F*cke— Hii! " But the moment when he returned his attention towards the Arena, he was surprised to see Yuki's smiling and uncovered face in front of him.
Since Yuki is much taller than him, Yuki is currently bending his body down just to meet the Magic Caster's face within the same level.

"... Hey, nice view isn't it?" Yuki said with a playful tone while displaying the most friendly smile he could muster on his face (Avatar).
The Magic Caster was really surprised, shocked, and scared to see Yuki's face in front of him.
Since Yuki's avatar looks like a face that came out straight from a horror movie, and the Magic Caster is just seeing this now, this almost gave him a heart attack.
It's like a real-time jumpscare from the Magic Caster's point of view.
"... Haha, did that scared you?" Yuki said laughingly. Clearly amused by the Magic Caster's reaction.
".. Y— Yeah you F— F*cking Sh—" The Magic Caster was still caught off guard and tried to catch the breath he lost. His real-time heartbeat had literally skipped for a couple of times.
But Yuki is not that forgiving. The Magic Caster didn't even manage to finish what he's saying when Yuki suddenly pulled back his right arm and deliver a Strong punch towards the Magic Caster's face. Since Yuki was standing close to him, the Magic Caster didn't even manage to react or even dodge. The next thing he just knew, is the sight of the furthering Arena.
"... You dirty bastard!" The Magic Caster was sent flying outside the boundaries and is now falling down towards the Water.
"... Use item! [ Fly ]!" But before he reach the waters, he managed to pull out a Magic Item again from his inventory then cast the Spell [ Fly ] from it.
He managed to stop himself, just a few inches before he hit the waters. Like before, if he's late even by a second, everything will be over already.
"... I need to get back up there before that Guy does something again." The Magic Caster said as he looks up towards the Arena, just to see Yuki looking down at him from the edges of it.
!!!
But at that moment, just like he predicted, he suddenly saw Yuki raised his finger and point it towards his direction.
"... Sh*t." He suddenly had a bad feeling. Judging from what keeps happening a moment ago, Yuki will surely do something again. With this kind of thought, the Magic Caster had immediately burst up towards the Arena.
But Yuki fired off his spell before he could even do that.
"... [ Skill: Dispel ]"
Suddenly, right after that, while in mid-flight, the Magic Caster's body glowed for a moment before slowly losing his ability to fly upwards.
"... AAAAHHHH! I WILL F*CKING KILL YOU!!!" He continuously shouts and throws curses towards Yuki while he's trying to reach the edge of the Arena so desperately. He just need a few more inches, but he didn't get that as he stopped flying upwards already just before that, then slowly fall down again towards the water.
He tried to pull something out of his Inventory again, probably something that would get him out of his current situation, but it seems that Yuki didn't have a plan to let him do any of that this time.
"... [ Flash Freeze ]." Before the Magic Caster could even reach out to his Inventory, Yuki had already cast a spell towards him.
The spell covered his whole body with Ice, preventing him from doing any kind of movement.
Now, the Magic Caster can do absolutely nothing but stare at Yuki while he's falling down.
"... You f*king Chea—"
*Splash*
The Magic Caster didn't even manage to finish what he's saying as the water submerged his whole body.
"... GGez." Yuki said laughingly as he stare towards the spot of the water where the Magic Caster had fallen.
*TUT*
Immediately after that, the sound that indicates the fight is over, had rung. Yuki was then announced as the winner of the World Tournament and the World Champion of Nfilheim.
Many Confettis and Fireworks are to be seen in the sky of the Arena. But for some reason, unlike what someone would usually expect, the Spectators outside the Arena that is watching the fight from the very beginning is very quiet. Not just now but it's like this throughout the whole fight.
"... What is this? What is even happening?"
∆∆∆
"... Is this even the finals."
∆∆∆
"... Is he win trading?"
∆∆∆
"... GIVE ME BACK MY BET! THIS DOESN'T COUNT!"
∆∆∆
"... So much for a Finals."
∆∆∆
They all know that the Magic Caster is strong. The Magic Caster will not reach the finals if he wasn't. He's expected to be at least within the top 10 of the Player Rankings.
But he didn't even have a chance to cast at least one single spell throughout the fight for some reason. And the most depressing part of it is that, he lost because he fall outside the Arena.
A single-digit Player, lost the World Tournament by falling outside the arena. He's a Magic Caster at the top of that. A funny story to tell.
But in this event...
Some of them felt either Happy or Angry that Yuki won. But all of them share one opinion regarding about the match they just watched.
An opinion that will spread throughout the whole YGGDRASIL after this event.
That the Player called Raizel, is a scam.

Ephemeral Cycle
Mature +18[?]------Hiatus notice, I'll be rewriting this story heavily over the coming weeks. It isn't going where I wanted it to, bare with me for awhile. Ideally, a months time, but time will tell.------Andrew Marks, among over a million, 'players,' is forcibly recruited into a game where the reality and fiction interlace. Where the slightest error will spell death. For yourself, for your new found allies, or the world. 'Choices have consequences,' is a lesson the Corporation wishes to remind people. In this new world where many fall each and every day, a man simply tries to avoid it all, yet the world isn't so kind as to let him off so easily.--------Chapters do tend to be on the longer side, well, in comparison to other fictions I've read on this site. Typically anywhere from 2500-4500 words depending on my mood at the time.In addition chapter releases are largely dependent on my mood so it should have at least two chapter released a week, however, I'll be busy for the next bit so it will be subject to change. --------Anyways, please bare in mind this is the first creative writing piece I have created with the exception of a novel I started writing just prior to this one. I'd appreciate any help or guidance you may give me to better my writing. Be it characters, background or setting, I'm quite sure there are a few loopholes. This is intended for a mature audience, viewers discretion is advised. I digress, enjoy, rate, comment, and let me know how it's treating you so far! I'll take any help I can get!
