《I Am The GUIDE》[Vol.1] 0032: Unexpected Development (3)

The assault toward Azure stopped as they observe him and the weapon in his hand.
'This weapon...'
He saw one of the snakes from the Snake Tribe use it one time and became interested. That certain snake taught him how to use it before it completely disappears.
This dagger would have been more accurate if he can use his ability on it. Unfortunately, with the redbird watching him, he could not reveal his cards.
Clang.
It made a sound again as he quickly charges toward the attack team of warrior birds.
The birds flinch but reacted rather quickly as they also charge forward while the defense and support team was behind their back.
Rather than using the dagger, Azure uses his feathers to cut the first defense of the attack team. It did not break the first try, but it completely broke after the second.
"What-! How!?"
This one bird who cast the sphere-shaped shield shouted in shock with wide eyes. He then coughs a bit of blood.
"Cough."
It was the feedback of his ability that forcefully got destroyed.
The leader of the warrior birds catches the bird that coughs blood before it fell.
Everyone was surprised for the reason that Azure's wings are stronger and that the shield was broken after only two attempts.
Azure uses this chance to attack.
He throws up the dagger and kicks the bird in front of him that has no defense with his feet also equipped with poison.
"Ugh!"
The bird's eyes instantly turned white and its body drops dead on the ground.
"Shit! This damn poison!"
One from the support team uses his ability to heal the falling bird but immediately realizes it was already dead from the unknown poison.
Bluebird Azure landed on a tree branch as he runs toward its trunk and uses it to push himself up toward the other two birds nearby without defense.
He spins as he cut both the birds head simultaneously. It was quite easy to cut now. Without defense, the warrior birds are too weak for Azure to worry.
The bluebird then pulls the chains to him and kicks it in the direction of that one bird with the defense. The distracted bird was oblivious to the danger nearing him.
"Look out!"
One from the support team shouted but it was too late. The dagger deeply pierced the warrior bird and it let out a groan as it tried to pull out the dagger.
Before the others could help, Azure pull the chains as he also attacks.
"Fuck! Help me--ack!"
Using his bloodied left wings, he strikes the bird.

"Lea!"
The leader of the warrior bids looks toward their strongest healer.
"I can't! He's too fast!"
Lea and the other bird, also with a healing type ability, could not heal everyone on time as the bluebird cuts off their head or severely injures their vital points.
Azure then lets go of the squirming bird after taking out his dagger within its body full of its blood.
"No! Damn it!"
The leader bird was now shaking as four of his birds quickly died.
The bluebird was moving too fast!
"He works fast."
Reece commented and chuckles.
"And he was a good spinner."
Meanwhile, the other warrior birds were getting mad and impatient that the two of them acted out of orders and charges to Azure.
"No! Back off! Otherwise, you'll die!"
Azure, who had just landed on a nearby tree, was pretending not to notice the reckless attack. They are driven by the madness of not being able to reach Azure that they will not notice or pay mind that he was only pretending not to notice their presence.
He peeks toward the support team and found them extending to both their hands directed toward the two birds recklessly attacking him.
Bluebird Azure stealthily pulls out two feathers as he kicks his feet to avoid the two warrior birds in their humanoid's attack.
He jumps tree after tree.
When he found a good spot, he threw the feathers and it struck the two birds, annihilating the support team.
"Shit!"
The defense team could only stare at the two bodies that collapsed to the ground, dead.
'Birds, tsk.'
Now, these birds are truly part of the Long Fangs. An uncontrollable tribe with arrogant members that always gets pissed off when losing.
The bluebird thought he was grateful he was not a full bird.
Of course, most birds don't really act this recklessly as they were properly trained, unlike them that once they reach a certain age, they are on their own.
'There they go.'
Russell, the redbird, thought. He knew this would happen. The warrior birds are hopeless.
Azure jumps again but hastily turned his body and opened his arms, welcoming the two birds chasing him into a hug with his sharp wings, and eventually cutting their body in half.
Bathing in too much blood, Azure felt so sticky as he wipes off the blood on his face.
"Now then."
It was only the defense team and their leader.
The last remaining warrior's birds were shaking uncontrollably witnessing how Azure manage to kill everyone only within a few minutes.
"Let's dance."

"Ha."
Azure sigh as he let go of the leader of the bird warrior's head.
After finishing all the warriors' birds, Azure was quite tired but still has enough strength to go for round two. Even rounds three and four if his opponent is not that powerful.
Seeing this, Reece commented.
"He is also reckless. That bluebird, tsk."
Reece clicks his tongue as he floated in circles.
Azure was not the type to do something so reckless.
"Him, acting so recklessly today, was because he was probably desperate."
He was desperate for the item that was currently in the possession of the Acting Chief.
The bird in question wipes the blood off his face as he looks toward where the redbird was standing earlier. To his relief, he was still there standing still, watching his every move.
Without wasting time, Azure asked the question that was bothering him for the past few days.
"Why is that item in your hands? Where is the Chief?"
Azure was looking very cold than usual.
Reece unintentionally stops playing and stayed still.
"Why is it on me? Hmm, why? I guess the Chief gives it to me… I think?"
The smirk on the redbird Russell's face did not go away as he was acting he was still confused.
"And the Chief? You are right! Where is the Chief?"
"Ha!"
Azure scoffs in disbelief.
"What do you want with the Chief? He is alive and kicking, so tell me now while I'm on it."
Instead of answering, Bluebird Azure said.
"The Chief was a close friend of my mother. And that thing is a gift from her for him for becoming the Chief! Why would the Chief use it to trade?"
Although Azure has never seen the face of the Long Fangs Chief, his mother always talks about him as if he was her own son.
His mother was once an adventurer in contract with a Spirit Guardian. She was strong, so she was able to get out of the tribe at a young age. And it was his mother that save that Chief, that wandering bird who does not have a home and a family.
"Or you stole it?"
Redbird Russell quickly shook his head in denial.
"I did not. I swear I didn't."
"Don't joke with me."
Azure was as serious as ever.
Reece, who was watching and hearing everything, cannot help but gulp with the invisible pressure he was feeling coming from Azure.
The invisible feeling was him getting scared when it was in fact, nonexistent.
Just then, the redbird spoke again. He sounded more confused though.
"Because… I am the Chief…?"
Azure quickly reacted and pointed the redbird in surprise.
"Chief? You?"
The redbird nodded and pointed himself.
"Yes. Me."
"W, what…?"
There was a moment of silence.
"What!?"
"Huh!?"
Both Azure and Reece were confused and shock at the sudden revelation that they simultaneously shouted. While the redbird was still smiling.
"Well, hello there."
The redbird shrug as he stood straight with hands on his stomach and at his back and lightly bowed. It was a formal greeting that most humans use.
"I am Russell, the Acting Chief but at the same time, the real Chief of the Long Fangs. Nice to meet you."
Reece, who was watching, was bewildered.
"… What's with this sudden development?"
The redbird, who does not have any idea about Reece watching and listening to them, then said.
"I knew something was wrong."
Russell could hear the ruckus in the forest when they are still traveling. It was only him and Joan though that heard it as their ears are naturally enhanced.
"You, did you freed the mutant?"
It was a casual question. No, more like, he was not even asking for an answer. He was certain about his hypothesis.
"Based on your reaction, I guess the tribe I am ruling is no more."
Azure now has a grim expression on his face.
He did expect something from Russell considering he was second only to the Chief, which is actually him, and that they are one. That made Russell the strongest in the tribe.
It is a known fact that the weaker race does not follow the weak, making every Chief always the strongest.
'He's smart.'
The bluebird was a bit anxious, but he was strong as well. He can fight the redbird.
"If you knew what I was planning, why did you leave the tribe while bringing Joan and the warriors?"
It was as if this redbird was already expecting the coup but he still decided to left the others alone and even weaken the tribe's defense.
"You even killed Joan claiming she is annoying. What is your intention?"
So, what was his intention for doing that? He let his birds get killed and get his tribe destroyed by his decision.
Instead of answering, Russell shrug and smiled.
Seeing that smile, Azure realizes it.
'He did it on purpose.'
This bird in front of him did not care about his tribe members and their species.
The Chief of the Long Fangs, Russell, really doesn't care about the tribe.
