《I Am The GUIDE》[Vol.1] 0008: A Pink Fairy (2)

But it seems Azure does not care much about it.
'Phew.'
Reece avoided Azure's gaze and thought the bluebird was quite easy to fool.
"Ahem. It will be different if your tribe—"
Reece was about to ask if the Long Fang Birds Tribe has a spirit contractor as it can sense a spirit like himself.
However, Daniel cut him off and warned him not to.
[Reminder. You are a fairy, the siblings of spirits.]
Reece paused as he also realized that fact.
He was currently a fairy, which means he should know that there is a contractor inside the forest. He almost messed things up if not for Daniel. For the first time, Reece was grateful to Daniel.
"... Sir? Sir Fairy?"
Azure was waiting for Reece to continue calling him in question.
"Nevermind."
Reece shook his head and waved his hand.
"I understand, sir."
Just to make sure.
'There really isn't, right?'
[I have already confirmed there is no need to worry.]
'I'll trust your judgment.'
Sighing, Reece relaxed a bit.
"Sir?"
Azure called as Reece stares at the fairy.
Reece thought he does not like being called in that formal sense of style as he feels old.
"Right. Call me my name. Not fairy, sir fairy, even less with the pink fairy."
Azure's eyes widened in surprise as he stuttered asking.
"Am... Am I allowed?"
"Hm. Why not?"
Reece, the fairy, has a scowl on his face. His expression was curious why is Azure was asking something like being allowed or not to call a name—as if it was no big deal.
Nevertheless, as Reece was not aware, fairies are still of higher existence than most creatures in the forest. This tiny pink fairy was enough to drive them out of their forest and if not, then abolish them all.
Azure was well aware of that fact as the Chief always warned them not to offend a fairy or a spirit contractor.
This explains Azure's reaction to the easy-going pink fairy, Reece, who was ordering Azure to just call his name.
"I... I understand."
Azure hesitatingly responded.
Still confuse with Azure's overreaction over name-calling, Reece decided to change the subject.
Besides, Daniel also did not say anything so he thought nothing was wrong and the bluebird was simply strange.
"Anyway, you will help me met him and I will give a hand if needed. Whatever it is, as long as I can do something to help then I will."
However, Reece usually breaks off his promises and even lies a lot, which is why he did not give a care about what he says and is even thinking of not doing anything to help.

'I'm sure they will be able to do it on their own.'
"Ah... Yes. Thank you very much!"
Azure nodded contentedly.
With both hands, hardly clench and slightly shaking paired with a determined look. Though he was not smiling and is still wearing his usual poker face, Azure was overjoyed nonetheless.
Reece, who was watching his reaction, has a blank expression on his face.
'What the...? The more I talk to him, the more disappointed I became.'
He tried to recall his first impression of the bluebird, Azure.
The bluebird always wore a calm or poker expression on his face despite receiving mistreatment from his own tribe members. Furthermore, his action resembles someone workaholic in their mid-thirty back on Earth who does not even know how to joke or understand a joke.
How come he was acting a bit cute to a slightly suspicious fairy?
In the first place, fairies do not even ask for help as they usually do not care about everything not related to their territory or nature. That is basic knowledge.
Above all, they are creatures who prefer to live in silence than involved themselves in trouble.
However, if the forest is involved and is put in grave danger, they will take action. But a fight between living creatures, definitely not.
Though some fairies have a unique personality and like to get themselves into trouble out of boredom of their long lives or solely for entertainment, which explains why some creatures have a fairy as their equals.
'I guess in front of someone superior, even a strong, smart, and intelligent one still reacts the same as most do.'
Reece sigh to wash away his unrelated thoughts while Azure coughs to buy himself a few seconds before finally letting out his selfish request to the benevolent fairy.
"Ahem. I will do what I can to help you sneak in in return for your cooperation in helping me free Hugh Ibrahim and slaughter our tribe, the Long Fangs."
Momentarily, Azure's seriousness returned as he stares at the fairy's tiny pink eyes.
He knew exactly what he wants Reece to do for him in return. Although him asking a fairy to help him slaughter his entire tribe is quite a serious sin for the fairy who is a son of the World Tree.
Nevertheless, Azure was desperate. Because it will not be long before his identity is found out.
"Got it. I will help you."
"... What...?"
It took Azure by surprise. It was an unexpected response coming from a good fairy.
"What is it? I ask you for your help and I am simply compensating so I will kill if I have to. Don't worry and just stay focus on your objective and so I will with mine."

"I..."
Azure did not expect the fairy to answer right away without even flinching at his request that comes with severe punishment from the Elven rulers if revealed.
Moreover, the way the pink fairy watched him with clear eyes coupled with its voice filled with confidence, Azure was positive that the tiny existence was the most unique amongst the fairies, even if it was his first time seeing and meeting one.
Because the fairies' absolute rule is to follow the will of the World Tree, which does not involve killing. The World Tree does not want the purest existence of all, the spirits and the fairies, to be tainted with red liquid.
Although the real reason why Reece was unfazed was that he was thinking of letting Daniel do the killing instead of him.
"But you do know I am a mutant?"
Does the fairy not hate him like the others?
"I do, and I don't care."
Reece was still nonchalant.
"It's no big deal to me."
He added. It was really not as Reece was still unfamiliar with this current world's system and laws.
"... I see."
"Yeah, yeah. Now that we had an agreement, let me rest for a while."
"Rest...?"
"Hm."
Azure flinches a bit to the point it was unnoticeable when the fairy slowly drifted in his direction. He still cannot get over that a higher existence was very close to him.
Noticing Azure's flinching, Reece added on.
"Ah. You see, I am quite exhausted."
There are a lot of unbelievable things that are happening to Reece that he is mentally tired. It was a good thing Daniel agreed he should rest.
The fairy weakly smiled.
Although his face looks very healthy yet his eyes are looking tired. Azure thought it must be related to overseeing the forest that the fairy was looking too exhausted.
"... I understand. Then, I will protect you. Despite how I look, I am quite strong."
Azure has a small smile on his face, a bit embarrass claiming he was strong in the presence of a higher being. But Reece was already aware of that fact so he did not decline. It is better if the bluebird protects him while he sleeps.
"Sure. Do as you please."
The fairy yawn and headed straight towards Azure's small and scruffy shoulder bag and went inside to leisurely sleep. He did not even wait for the approval.
Azure was slightly amused by how the fairy trusted him right away.
Of course, it was not because of trust. Like hell, Reece would trust someone he just met even if Daniel puts his trust in Azure.
Reece was confident that nothing will happen even if he was asleep nonetheless. It was due to Daniel able to take liberties of his body if he is put in danger so Reece doubt he will be in danger any time soon.
'This is kind of cute.'
The small pink fairy looks very adorable sleeping inside his bag full of herbals while hugging both its tiny legs.
Somehow, he looks peaceful and comfortable.
Smiling, Azure lightly patted his bag and continued his patrol. Yet his current pace was rather slow and his steps were gentle. He does not want to wake Reece, the pink fairy.
A few hours had passed and Reece decided to wake up. Decided, because although his body was resting, his consciousness was with Daniel, and the latter keeps on talking to him. Due to this, his mental health was more exhausted instead of recovering.
Yawning, Reece sat up and looks up in the slightly open bag where he was resting.
He notices Azure was staying still and concludes he must be resting to ease his fatigue. After all, Azure has done a lot more than the others.
"Daniel. How many hours have passed?"
[Report. It was only a day.]
"Oh, a day?"
For Reece whose consciousness was awake, it feels that only an hour had passed as he feels nothing.
"They must have already hunted the stone bear?"
Reece crossed his arms and legs as he asks for confirmation.
[Yes. The battle ended an hour ago and they are currently resting and recovering. Individual 'Azure' was the most exhausted and heavily wounded.]
"Hmm. Is that so?"
He expected that so Reece was not surprised.
'And I am sure he was holding back.'
[Do you want to watch the entire fight?]
"What? You... You have it recorded?"
[Correct.]
It seems like Daniel knows and sees everything in the world, which is scary.
'Hmm.'
Reece stayed still for a while to ponder.
Now that he thinks about it, who the hell is Daniel? He seems to know everything if not for some restriction place on him, Reece could probably squeeze out some information of him. But he was currently powerless so it is a pity.
Shaking his head, Reece answered.
"Still a no. I am certain how unmerciful the fight is."
Fights between animals are not on a level that Reece could handle as they do not show pity for their enemies, unlike weak-minded humans. These animals fight to the death and bleed a lot.
[Suggestion. Should we help healing the Bluebird 'Azure?']
Shaking his head, Reece sternly replied.
"No. There is no need for healing him."

[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all.
