《Project Burnout》Chapter 30: Analysis

Seeno was very steady as it walked over to the nervous chickens, it had seen some in the wild but in larger groups and smaller stature.

“Is it tame?” Meili seemed just as cautious too, scratching the chicken's heads to comfort them.

“Uh, well, it follows him around peacefully,” Meili shot a discouraging look and pointed at Tomobi.

“Ask him about it,”

“Oh right, Tomobi is Seeno tame?” Tomobi thought back to all the times Seeno has and hasn’t listened to him with varying results.

“Um, I guess,” he stiffly shrugged while Arthur puckered his lips.

“See it’s fine,” Arthur also shrugged, Meili rubbed her forehead. She then started to quickly signal to Arthur as he tried talking to her too, Tomobi took this time to try talking to Seeno.

“Seeno I know that you know what I say sometimes so please, don’t bite any of them,” he wasn’t sure that he got through to Seeno, but a soft mouthing on his hand gave him some hope.

It lowered down to a crawl when getting closer to Arthur and Meili, keeping an eye on the chicken dinosaurs as it bobbed its head. The larger of the two flapped its wings and strutted away while the smaller hissed and still stayed close to Arthur. Seeno moved back for a moment, before going back to where it originally reached and laid down.

“Is this fine?” Arthur glanced over to Meili, who chewed on her tongue as she thought about it.

“Fine, but if it does anything you’re sacrificing yourself as a chew toy,” Arthur gave Tomobi the thumbs up and sat close by Seeno. Meili and the smaller chicken sat by Arthur while Tomobi got to lean by Seeno, both getting eyed by the couple as Arthur stroked the raptor chicken.

“Do you know what Seeno is?” Arthur blurted out, getting pinched by Meili.

“Um I really don’t know animals, so I was kind of hoping you knew something?” Clicking his tongue Arthur looked Seeno up and down.

“Hm well, I know it could be a drake. They’re lizards that are active like mammals, not truly cold-blooded and stuff,” he tried scooting over to Seeno, but its glare and baring fangs told him he wasn’t welcomed.

“Okay,” Hands up he shuffled back.

“It looks like a mountain-ridge,” Meili signed, signaling an analysis between them

“True but besides the scales and head shape it’s too small and seems lither. Maybe a plain sprinter and mountain-ridge hybrid,”

“Plain sprinters have only been found breeding with viperoot drakes, and even then the offspring struggle to last,”

“Then what could breed with mountain-ridges?” Tomobi tried following the conversation.

“It might be a genetic defect, dwarfism?”

“But we dealt with one before, it could’ve been bred like that,”

“No tribe is stupid enough to try to domesticate a drake,”

“What about that one with the Roman Boars, if they got those beasts I’m sure somebody has tried with drakes,”

“Tried, not succeed,”

“Um sorry to interrupt,” Tomobi managed to pause their debate, when both looked he did feel a-little out of place.

“Uh, could you explain what Meili has been saying, I am a little lost,”

“Oh right, sorry. It’s just well,” Arthur tried using his hands to help him explain.

“Seeno isn’t something we’ve really seen,” Arthur went on to explain the oddity of Seeno.

Kiorif meanwhile had his broken gun and Rookie behind him as he met the owner.

“Ah my favourite soldiers, how can I help you,”

“Do you have a gunsmith?”

“Gunsmith?”

“Someone who can fix guns,”

“Oh, ah, I guess you could ask some of the guards. They’re mainly the ones who fix their stuff,”

“Is there at least a workshop?”

“Yes we do, it’s a shed. Have to go around behind the inn,” Kiorif walked off, leaving Rookie to thank him as she followed after Kiorif.

“God, you’re so confusing, nice to Tomobi, mean to me and the owner,”

“Not letting you sleep is not mean,”

“Excuse me but I need my beauty sleep,”

“Then you should have slept earlier,”

“Wha-” Rookie was left confused.

“And sleep at what, eight? I’m not a child,” Rookie continued her childish rant as Kiorif focused on finding the shed. While doing so his eyes caught on a familiar scaly lump resting on a field.

“Hey isn’t that Seeno? I wonder where Tomobi is?”

“Foc-” Kiorif was about to redirect Rookie to the gun but his eyes caught on to the hunting couple.

“Instead I will go to check what has happened to the gun, go check on what they’re talking about,”

“Okay now I’m so confused with you, are you some two-faced villain or something. Are you sure you want me to go?”

“Quit testing me,”

“Okay okay, I’ll take the chance I get. Hey Tomobi,” Rookie split off from Kiorif as he continued to the shed.

“Tomobi,” another call of his name got Tomobi’s attention, turning to see Rookie smiling at him.

“What you doing?”

“I’m talking to Meili and Arthur,” after his reply he looked past Rookie to see Kiorif still walking, but having a sharp stare in his attention. He felt a shiver and was about to overthink what Kiorif could’ve said, though Rookie acted as a healthy distraction.

“Hey you guys. I actually wanted to chat with you guys, not like a soldier going, you know, interrogation mode,” Meili smiled and offered a seat. As she sat down she noticed the chickens, with the larger now going down to sit down as well.

“Nice dinosaurs,”

“Chickens,” Arthur corrected.

“This one is Donut,” His hand reached behind him as he scratched the larger chicken.

“And his brother Biscuit,” The smaller one rubbing by Arthur closer.

“Aw cute names,” Rookie fitted herself in the conversation as Kiorif finally reached out of their sights, finding the shed.

Dainty compared to the inn, it was still spacious. Kiorif opened the door, inside a person didn’t seem excited to turn to see him.
