《Rise Of The Elf Demon Lord》Chapter 4: Previous Demon Lord!

"Miss elf, may I know your name?" Ni Shiuri asked while looking at Li Wei but she didn't answer him immediately. She first took a spoonful of stew, placed it in her mouth and smiled. Lowered her spoon into the bowl, looked at Ni Shiuri and with a smile on her face said, "My name is Riya, what about you two?"
Ni Shiuri and Bhazout Grayhelm widened their eyes in shock and they shouted out in unison, "You are Riya?!" The bear raised its head and looked at Li Wei as well.
Li Wei quickly turned her head left, right and left, "What's wrong?"
Ni Shiuri shook his head, "No, I was just shocked. You see, we are Vartys's companions, I am Ni Shiuri the hero"
"And I am Bhazout Grayhelm" he laughed, "The world sure is small."
"So he is really a hero," Li Wei calmly thought. She gasped and shouted out, "Really?! That's amazing! A hero!"
Ni Shiuri smiled, "We should all calm down," he said and started laughing. The bear growled in agreement and Li Wei and Bhazout Grayhelm started laughing as well.
Few minutes passed and they all stopped laughing. Ni Shiuri smiled widely and he was about to say something but Riya's stomach grumbled and he chuckled, "Let's eat first and talk later because I am afraid that if we talk as we eat, one of us will die from choking on the food."
Bhazout Grayhelm laughed, "The hero is right. Let's eat first!"
Li Wei nodded, "Yeah let's," she said and thought, "They let their guards down, good. I am sure they will answer all my questions without reservations now," she took another spoonful into her mouth.
…
Li Wei put the last spoonful of stew into her mouth; then put the spoon into the bowl and placed the bowl onto the ground beside her. She raised her eyes from the ground and saw Ni Shiuri and Bhazout Grayhelm looking at her, "What is it? Do I have something on my face?"
Ni Shiuri rubbed his chin, "Vartys, didn't exaggerate when she said that you are beautiful."
Li Wei chuckled, "Sorry but that won't work on me."
Ni Shiuri narrowed his eyes, "Oh really?"
Bhazout Grayhelm moved his eyes from one to another and then chuckled, "This is the first time, the hero is showing interest in a woman. I have to support him as a friend. I should let them talk without interrupting," he thought.
Li Wei nodded, "Yeah really, do you mind if I ask you a few questions?"
Ni Shiuri nodded, "Go ahead, Riya."
"How far is the closest city and in what direction would it be?"
"City you say? Why do you want to know that? Are you leaving this forest perhaps? Why?"
"Even if he lets down his guard, he still asks," Li Wei thought and said, "I want to know because I am leaving the forest. So which way and how far is it?"

Ni Shiuri nodded and pointed his finger, "It's that way, it's four days by foot or one to two days by horse. Do you have any more questions?"
"Is there an adventurer guild in the city?"
"Adventurer guild? Why? Do you want to become an adventurer?"
"Yes, I do. So is there?"
"That's right, there is."
"What are the requirements to join the guild?"
"You have to be at least fourteen. If I remember correctly, you are a little over 200 and in humans years that would be around 20 years old."
Li Wei shrugged her shoulders, "Who knows."
Ni Shiuri chuckled, "I guess all girls don't like to talk about their age… human and elf alike," he thought and said, "Anything more, I can answer?"
"Was the demon lord strong?"
Ni Shiuri narrowed his eyes and nodded seriously, "He was very strong. We nearly lost a comrade in our fight against him but thankfully all hundred of us survived."
Li Wei frowned inwardly, "The demon lord failed to kill a single human out of a hundred?" she thought and said, "That's amazing, all your companions survived, you must have led them marvellously. But I am really curious how strong was the weakest member of your party?"
"Hmm, the weakest?" Ni Shiuri moved his eyes to his companion, "Grayhelm, who was it?"
"Hmm… It was Lentaro Li, he was of the group 25 and I think his level was 39."
Li Wei nodded, "I see, for comparison, what level are you two?"
"I am level 100," Ni Shiuri said.
"And I am level 100 as well," Bhazout Grayhelm said.
"What about the demon lord?"
Ni Shiuri shook his head, "I used detection magic on him but I failed to detect his true level."
"What do you mean by that?"
Ni Shiuri scratched his head, "The detection magic showed me that his level was only 50. Of course, it was false as to get to him, we have to kill monsters that were in the late 70s in level and demon lord was stronger than them." Bhazout Grayhelm nodded.
Li Wei nodded, "I see," she said and thought, "I can already guess. The last demon lord amassed his armies and started attacking with them, not bothering to level up himself… The previous demon lord had thought of a plan I created?… My second plan was thought of by a demon lord who was half the hero's level?... If one of them could be created by some simple-minded fool then all of them can… I have to rethink everything… Wait a moment, when I entered this world what did I decide? I decided to shape the world in my image… and that was all… I didn't give thought to anything else… That was why my second plan was so foolish. It was because I only had only set myself one goal when in my previous life, I had many goals. I looked too much into the future!"

Li Wei took a deep breath. Ni Shiuri looked at Li Wei and tilted his head in confusion, "I wonder what she is thinking about."
Bhazout Grayhelm shrugged his shoulders, "Don't ask me."
Li Wei's thoughts continued, "My first goal back on earth was to graduate the university atop of my year. I will translate this goal into becoming an adventurer. My second goal was to start a company. I will translate this goal into subjugating the first monster I see and starting my demon lord's army. My third goal was to become the richest and most powerful woman in China. I will translate this goal into reaching the maximum level and expanding my army, slowly subjugating monsters. My fourth goal was to create my own country. I will translate this goal… no that's too soon for that. My fourth goal will be building my own demon lord's castle. In a location that would be big enough to hold an increasing number of monsters and remote enough not to be discovered by anyone. My fifth, sixth and seventh goals will be my original fourth goal. My fifth goal will be attacking and taking over a city. My sixth goal will be the creation of a new government. My seventh goal will be taking over the country which I attacked. My eight goal will be my original fifth goal, waging war against other countries of this world. My final ninth goal will be my original sixth goal, shaping this world in my image… although this plan will start from the completion of the sixth goal… I will deal with anyone that stands in the way of any of these goals… children, women and old people will be no exception."
"Are you okay?" Ni Shiuri suddenly said and Li Wei snapped out of her thoughts, "Sorry did you say something?"
"What were you thinking about?" Bhazout Grayhelm said.
Li Wei shook her head, "Nothing important, why?"
Bhazout Grayhelm moved his eyes to Ni Shiuri and Ni Shiuri said, "Can I ask you a question now?"
"Go ahead."
"You may already know what we are going to ask you but do you mind telling us where is the elf village?"
Li Wei yawned and then stretched, "I don't mind but can we leave it for tomorrow?"
Ni Shiuri and Bhazout Grayhelm looked at each other and then nodded.
Li Wei smiled, "Great," she moved her eyes to the bear that sat laid beside her, "Do you mind if I use him as a pillow?"
The bear looked at her and nodded, Bhazout Grayhelm didn't know whether to laugh or to cry, "If he is willing then go ahead."
Li Wei nodded, "Thank you." She moved her head to the bear and planted her head on him, "So warm," she thought and closed her eyes, quickly falling asleep.
"She's already asleep?" Bhazout Grayhelm said surprised.
Ni Shiuri smiled and looked into the sky, "What an interesting evening."
"Mhm? Yeah, I didn't expect to meet Riya. I thought we would meet her only when we arrived at the elf village."
"Yeah… I decided Grayhelm, I will take her as my wife."
Bhazout Grayhelm smiled, "I support you, but you can't force her."
Ni Shiuri hit the dwarf on his shoulder, "Who do you think you are talking to! I am a hero! If I would do something like that."
Bhazout Grayhelm laughed and hit the hero on his back, "I am joking, my friend!"
Ni Shiuri sighed and said with a wide smile, "The world will change for the better now. Everyone will smile, everyone will live free from the fear of the demon lord."
"Yeah!"
…
The night quickly passed. Li Wei's eyelids quivered and her eyes opened, she sat up, on the ground and rubbed her eyes; as she was rubbing her eyes, a growl sounded behind her. She turned her head back and saw the bear looking at her, "Good morning, bear."
The bear nodded is satisfaction and a voice entered Li Wei's ears, "You are up?"
Li Wei turned in the direction of the voice and saw Bhazout Grayhelm approaching her. She stood up from the ground and yawned while covering her mouth with her right hand, "Good morning, Bhazout Grayhelm."
"Good morning, Riya, but that sounds too stiff, you can call me just Grayhelm, how about it?"
Li Wei shrugged her shoulders, "Sure."
"So what's for breakfast?"
Bhazout Grayhelm laughed, "Sorry but there is nothing. We will go to the elf village to see our companion and we were planning to eat there."
Li Wei nodded, "I see." She looked around, "Where is Ni Shiuri?"
Bhazout Grayhelm smiled with meaning, "He went to take a leak. He will be back soon."
"I see. You wanted the location of the elf village right?"
Bhazout Grayhelm nodded, "Yes, please tell us. Better yet can you— I almost forgot, you are leaving towards the city aren't you."
Li Wei nodded her head, "Yeah" She pointed in the direction from where she came from, "It's there."
Bhazout Grayhelm nodded, "Thank you."
"Do you mind giving me some food and water. So it would last me four days?"
Bhazout Grayhelm nodded, he walked to the camp, grabbed his bag, walked back to Li Wei and extended it, "Here, there is food for a week in there. Safe travels, Riya."
"Thank you," Li Wei put the bag on her shoulders, turned around and walked in the direction, Ni Shiuri pointed her last night.

Getting Hard (Journey of a Tank)
Herald Stone always built tank characters in every MMORPG he played. To be immortal—that was his first Goal, a simple childhood dream. However, the turbulent realities of life put an end to his gaming days. Years passed, and Herald Stone, now having attained success and stability, was presented with the opportunity to redeem himself...to fulfill his first Goal. Trivial? Childish? Others might think so. But Herald Stone always fulfilled his Goals—every single one. No matter what. Immortality beckoned in Mother Core Online, and this time Herald Stone would answer. Choosing a long-forgotten race, hidden away in an unknown region, the journey of an immortal tank begins. This is the tale of Herald Stone...getting hard. Schedule: Mon-Wed-Fri ~1.8k-2.3k words per chapter. Also published on Scribblehub. My other ongoing story: REND | Royal Road Expect a focus on building a true tank in MMORPGs. Heavy game elements and numbers are present. But actual math will take a backseat to strategies involving skill builds and synergies that steadily become more complex while remaining understandable. The main character is atypical in LitRPGs or web novels as a whole. He might take some getting used to. Character arcs will develop over a long period. What you see now will be different as the main character changes. The start of Getting Hard is slow-paced (more so than others of the genre) and includes world-building and character development before focusing on the LitRPG.
