Why?
Red, glanced up, "The Warden is dead Angel, there's no reason for you to bother us. Let us leave"
It must have been hard for Red to see him but with me being carried in her arms I got to see his arrogant smile. He kept his eyes forward as he spoke, "Come on now Jacklin, you think the Warden was the top dog? Of course not, there are people above her, and when they get here I'll have all their remaining subjects. Including the healer and catastrophic. That should be enough for them to make me an agent, no, maybe even higher. I could take the Wardens spot!"
Catastrophic?...Wayne!
Angel spoke, this time making eye contact with me, "If you kill me... both of you will die too."
He struggled to speak with my hand squeezing his throat, but his confidence didn't seem to waver. Red was pulling at my leg in an attempt to stop me, in her defense I had no right to be moving as much as I did. I had one foot on her shoulder after launching myself up and grabbing Angel by the throat. "Where is Wayne?"
"I don't know what you're so worked up about. He's fine, I'm not going to kill an asset that valuable."
Looking into his eyes he had that same condescending look even with my choking him, but, he didn't seem to be lying.
"Now, let go of my throat. Even Red can tell that she'd die from falling from this height, or are you as stupid as you look?" We stare at each other for only a few seconds before he realizes it. "Why?... Are you crazy?" My grip continued to increase. I didn't have much strength left but I poured everything I had into it. "I'll... let her go!" Leaning back, I made sure he could see while I ripped out one of the staples in my stomach. "What is wrong with you?"

I slowly started to dig it into the side of his neck before speaking, "Wayne."
"What about him?" I dug the metal further into his skin, "AHHHHgh, I'll take you to him, I'll take you to him!"
It took everything I had to not let the pain or weakness show on my face as we flew towards the courtyard. As soon as Red's feet touched the ground she spun around and grabbed Wayne by the neck, pinning him against the ground with one arm while catching my collapsing body with her other.
Angel bursted out, "You were blufing?"
"No, he would have killed you." Red gently set me on the ground before looking towards Angel, "You said a healer, right? That's Veronica." Angel nodded his head, he seemed to understand the power Red held in her hand that was against his skull. "Take me to Veronica, now!"
No, "Red, I'm fine. We'll get Wayne fir-AHHH!" Pain rushed through me again as the staple reentered my wound.
"NO! You're not fine! You pulled out a fucking STAPLE and are bleeding everywhere. Even with it back in it will only do so much! So we're going to Veronica first!"
"Red! ???"
She lifted her hand from my stomach to my forehead, her hand ready to flick. "I'm sorry, you come first whether you like it or not."
POP!
"Wake up!"
Slap.
My eyes shoot open at the sudden pain to see the half-naked Red over top of me. It might have been an erotic sight if it wasn't for the scorch marks on her skin and burnt clothing, reminding me of what had happened. However, that didn't stop me from reaching out and touching her face. I smiled but her lips didn't respond, she only placed a hand on my stomach which caused... no pain? Sitting up slightly and glancing down at her hand I saw my scar riddled upper body, but no wound. Not even a trace of it. Looking back to Red I noticed someone in the corner of the room, sobbing. She had the makeshift staples in her arm over a small, but decent size cut. It was hard to tell who it was because her short disheveled brown hair covered her face, but it, along with her rather large chest gave me an idea of who it was.

As I listened to her sobs it confirmed her identity. "They killed him!... Jason. Where are you Jason?... oh...They killed him!"
"Red, what is going on?"
"There here Tom, the one's angel was talking about. There are agents everywhere. Here I found this while I was out looking for Wayne." She handed me my chain whip. It had been reconnected, I could see the slightly misshapen links in it.
"Wayne, did you find him?"
Red, glanced to the side. "Yes. They have him. When they got here they went straight to him. Him and Veronica. I took the trackers out of our arms because of it."
"Dammit Red I told you--"
"You almost died! Do you know how much blood I had to take from Veronica before you healed? If we had gone for Wayne you wouldn't have made it to see him."
Looking over to Veronica who repeated the same lines over and over I stared at her arm. "So that was because of me?"
"That's where the tracker was."
"How did you know where it was?"
"I tore apart the body of a dead kid until I found it-We can talk about this shit later! First, we need to figure out a way to escape."
"No, we need to find a way to get Wayne, then escape."
"You haven't seen how many there are! It's not possible, other than Veronica, he's probably the only one that they actually care about. He'll be too heavily guarded."
Putting my forehead against Reds, our lips almost touching and eyes locked, "I'm, NOT, leaving him."
"Then how the fuck do you plan on getting him, without dying?"
I smiled, grabbing Red's face and turning it to Veronica. "We have her."
