《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》93. Opportunity

Fuck my head, I made sure to hide it while talking to that fucking doctor but everything looks fuzzy. I can barely focus my vision more than a few feet in front of me.
Left here.
Right here.
Finally the cafeteria. Where is our table? It should be over here, no this isn't it.
"Please, we don't want any trouble!"
As if I'm in any state to cause trouble, "Sorry, wrong table." I begin to walk away but stop and turn back, "Can you point me in the direction of Veronica?"
They answer pleadingly, "O-over there." I follow the direction he pointed.
"You look like shit."
"Veronica? Is that you?"
"Can you not fucking see?"
"Veronica I need a vile."
"You're lucky Jason isn't here." I hear it slide across the table, grabbing it I take a swig of it and sit down.
The pain in my side gets worse, the sign it's healing. My vision starts to come back as my head throbs louder and louder, the faint sounds of the bones in my hand reconnecting seeping through.
"Better?"
Yeah, "Better."
"I heard you got your ass beat by a girl. What is it with girls and beating the shit out of you?"
"Seriously?"
"What, just because I'm a girl I can't find it funny that you got your ass kicked by one? You're lucky all she did was break a couple of ribs?"
"How did you know?"
"You were holding your side like it was going to fall off, also, everyone said she stomped on you for a while before they got to you."
"So everyone knows I got my ass kicked, great."
"I heard she laid a fat one on you too?"

"More like spitting down my throat."
"So she's taking after me?"
"Please don't remind me of that!"
"--You shouldn't fuck with her. The third and up aren't people you want to mess with."
"So I've been told."
"Question is why aren't you listening? -- Why are you giving me this back?"
"It doesn't help with the pain but once it hits again I'll still probably try and use it out of desperation. This way I can't waste it."
"What do you mean 'again'..."
I leave the vile on the table and make my way to the courtyard. I'm surprised I can remember how to get there having only gone to it once, but it is the only place I can come in contact with fresh air.
"Everyone return to your rooms, effective immediately!" A voice boomed through the halls. I had grown accustomed to the Bitch in a Box's voice, but I hand never heard that sound in her voice, that feeling. Was it... fear? She continued, "Anyone who does not comply will be met with lethal force!"
Alright, what the fuck is going on, something isn't right. Changing my direction I walk, now heading for my cell. It doesn't take long before I see some of the others, they were all running. They are taking her too seriously, she obviously won't kill us if we don't get to our cells fast enough, the lethal force has to be a bluff. So that means the real concern is whatever caused her to use such an extreme tactic just to get us to return to our cells. Mid-thought I am shoved from the side and pinned up against the wall.
"Carnie? The fuck are you doing, now is not the time to fuck around!"

"Did you hear it? Her voice? I know, you must have?"
"She's scared of something, so what?"
"Whatever it is to her, it's a chance to us!"
She can't be serious? This soon? "You're not planning to-"
"Yup, it's our chance to escape! You're coming with me!"
"What are you talking about? You haven't told me anything about your plan, are we supposed to pull this off without the prep-time?"
"That's right, here's the plan. Do what I tell you. Now, follow me."
Damnit, Carnie! You can't be serious! Fuck! Is this my chance? Can I afford to pass up this opportunity?
"Where the hell are we going?" Granted I don't know this place nearly as well as everyone else, but I've still been around it so to speak, and I have never been past the arena.
"I've scouted out pretty far. Over this way is the main command center for our wing."
"And once we're there?"
"We find the master key card. With that, we'll be able to start making our way out. Stop!"
Crouching down we hugged the wall, Carnie peering around the corner. "Alright, he's getting ready to come this way. You take him out and I'll handle the one inside."
What? Who? When? These questions flashed through my mind but before my lips could move Carnie was around the corner. Damnit! This was a terrible idea, her communication is horrible. There's no way we'll be able to pull this off like this, no matter how good the plan is. I could use this opportunity to retreat, but, it's possible they might have some useful information in that command room. If I had known there was something like that this close I might have taken a stab at trying to get in there already.
It's probably not a good idea to go around this corner, I don't have anything close to the necessary speed to keep up with Carnie. Fuck it, I'll just sit right here and wait for her to realize the mistake she made. While crouching down and thinking to myself a foot appeared from around the corner, and it wasn't Carnie's. What looked to be an agent finished rounding the corner heading straight for me. No, he must not know I'm here because he's about to trip over me, shit, is this who I'm supposed to take out?
Even if it's not, the agent is about to realize that I'm here, and there was a lethal force warning. Even if it was just a bluff the agent might not know that, or care. Even if he doesn't try to kill me, just him knowing I was here could cause problems in the future.
My fist flies out and strikes his groin, folding him in half. While hunched forward and in pain, he still manages to pull out his dart gun. He attempts to aim for me. Grabbing his wrist I shove his hand straight up, right at his throat. Using my pinky finger I pull the trigger before he has a chance to realize what is happening. The dart launches directly into his throat, deeper than it should have due to the point-blank range. It wasn't even a second before blood started to pour from this neck, his hands desperately trying to halt the flow.
The blood sprays my face and stains my clothes, "Oops"

Blackened Blood[Progression Fantasy]
Broken and lost by the dredges of this world a boy awakens once again into life's game within hallowed black halls, his first taste of new life cold and hunger along with the echoing drip of temptation. Deep sickness festering within in him. Given a second chance by either coincidence or something more sinister, follow the story of he who bleeds black. Betrayal, greed and blood littered in droves across this hellbound path. ********** 2000+ words daily for now, will reduce to thrice a week after the writathon. If it wasn't clear, this is a vampire story taking place in a high fantasy environment. Although while its main character is a vampire and that is one main focus of the story it will also lend itself to the magic side of this world as well. Basically, if you're interested in vampires or magic heavy stories, this will have something for you... probably. The synopsis is kinda vague but If you give it a shot, I think you'll like it. Also, feel free to drop any sort of constructive criticism since this is one of my first experiences writing in first person.Forgot to add that the story will be a little less action-orientated until around chapter 20+ when... well... read and see :) Any chapters with the * next to them have been edited or tweaked. I'll remove it once all of them are.

Maitbudi

Derai knew nothing more than being an orphan, but when a merchant took her in, the world she thought impossible soon became a reality. Monghe, stuck in a school exemplifying strength for most of his life, began to understand what he needed to do in order to be strong instead of weak. Story is mostly about nothing. Fermboi does most of the nothing. Aventina does most of the military things. Bolahulag does a balance of economy and military. Derai focuses on economy. Monghe spitfires what it means to be a typical hero. Hopefully this is enough to give a general idea to people who don’t like going blind aside from the work being purportedly “good.” Who am I kidding, my writing is terrible. I hope it improves though.
