《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》84. Assault
Advertisement
I guess all that is left is to challenge Jason. Hmm, I'll leave the choice up to him, If he says he doesn't have a problem with it then I'll fight him. Just to be sure I'll press him about it, make sure he completely agrees to it, then I'll whoop his ass.
I drift back to the present and look around my cell, no matter how long I spend here I don't think I'll ever get used to this place. In fact, I believe the more time I spend here the more I hate it.
Click.
The door unlocks and opens slightly like it does every mealtime, except its not mealtime.
"What's going on?"
"Your rank has gone up considerably due to your last match, and with that comes perks. You now have the freedom to leave when you would like, excluding night time that is."
"Any chance I'll get this collar off?"
"No, that collar is actually the only reason you are being given the benefits. Without it, and with your past both outside and in here I couldn't let you roam free. For this, you should be grateful to the collar."
Bitch, like I'd be grateful for a leash.
Exiting my cell I notice Wayne's shut door. Looking through the small window I see he isn't in there, must be a testing day, been a lot of those lately. Guess I'll be doing this on my own, now, if I were Jason where would I be? He might be in the training room since I'm not normally free this early. If not the only other place he could be is in the cafeteria so it shouldn't be too hard to find him. Making my way through the halls the utter lack of people is a constant reminder that my rank has gone up.

I figured more people would have these benefits but so far it doesn't seem like many people do. I wonder what my rank is, did I jump up to the top five and this is because of that? That probably isn't the case considering all the negatives I have holding me back but it's still possible, maybe.
Thinking about it there might not be anyone in the training room and on the way to it because no one wants to go train right after they wake up, it is still pretty early. Well, if anybody would do it, it would be Jason. I continue my vacant stroll to the training room. With it in my sight, I slowly began to hear voices coming from it.
"I told you she wasn't an internal."
"How the hell was I supposed to know, you know how this would have gone if she was. You can't blame me for being scared"
"Alright, you get her shorts."
"You sure she won't-"
"Oh come on, I nailed her ass, she ain't waking up anytime soon. Even if she does, now that we know she's not an internal we'd be fine even if she did."
"So you didn't know?"
"Keep your voice down jackass! Besides, I was pretty sure she wasn't."
"You lied to me!"
"Calm down, if I had told you that at the time you wouldn't have helped me. It worked out, were here, focus on that."
The voices coming from the room did nothing but confuse me as I arrived at the entrance to the room. On top of that what I saw confused me even more. The entire room was empty, despite the voices I heard. I took cover behind the wall while I tried to make sense of what was happening. While I did the voices continued.

"I can't believe we're doing this. I've been waiting for this ever since that bitch humiliated me."
"Don't worry, we'll make her pay for what she did to us. She'll never be able to forget us after we're done."
"You're still suppressing her ability right?"
"Of course I am, I'm not stupid, it could activate subconsciously so I'm taking precautions. What about you, gonna be able to keep up the illusion while you're going at it?"
"This wouldn't be the first time I've fucked with an illusion."
"Figured."
What the fuck is going on? Illusion? Is that why I don't see anything? Even if it is I don't know if I want to bother with whatever is going on here. It's going to cause more problems for me no matter how I look at it and I just got the freedom to go where I want, when I want. It doesn't seem worth it, but, what if the girl they're talking about is Veronica or Carnie? If I knew for sure that it was Carnie I still might not intervene, she isn't worth my freedom. However, if it's Veronica I have no choice but to intervene. It could negatively affect my supply, plus if I am the one to help her then it might positively affect my supply. It's a no-brainer.
I'll just try and sneak into the illusion so I can find out who it is and then act accordingly. I take a few steps into the room, slowly. The voices continue to talk to each other, not acknowledging me approaching them. Shit, they might not be able to see me, at least that's what I hope. There isn't really anything to hide behind while I get closer to the voices so if the illusion they're talking about is like a one-way mirror then I'm fucked, but that's a risk I have to take. I walk forward making sure to not make a sound while holding my arm out in front of me. After slowly shuffling forward for a few seconds my hand disappears. I almost jump in surprise but am able to keep control of myself.
Staring at the end of my arm where my hand should be I bring my head towards it. Stepping forward my vision acted as though I was looking through water. Peering into this water-like world I saw two men kneeling on the ground. One was tall and lanky while the other was slightly shorter but a lot heavier. The heavier one faced me, a smile painted across his face, his eyes ravenous. The lanky one had his back to be, the only sound from him was that of heavy breathing. Looking on the ground in between the two men was a woman. Her shirt ripped down the front revealing her modest chest. Her ripped-off shorts pulled down her shapely legs and resting around her knees, exposing her surprisingly colorful underwear that was torn and pulled to the side. Blood ran down the side of her head from where she had obviously been hit with something, the spot the fresh blood poured out of was already discolored.
Despite everything that was on display and should have drawn any young man's attention, none of it did. My entire being was focused on something else... Her beautiful, red, lips.
My blood ran cold before coming to a boil.

Breakers
My name is Joo In-gong. The name that my parents gave me meant ‘protagonist’ of the world. As anyone can predict, I was constantly teased due to my name. In kindergarten, elementary school, middle school and high school. If I went to university as planned then I would probably be laughed at there as well. So, at one point, I really hated my name. But not anymore. Now, I think slightly differently. Maybe being named Joo In-gong was a type of foreshadowing?

Legendary Farmer (available on Kindle July 2022!)
NOTE: Legendary Farmer is now COMPLETE. The first book, Clearing, was released on Kindle Unlimited July 5, 2022 with significant edits. I will post the first chapter of Clearing, as well as three chapters of Cuckoo's Dream, another novel in the LF universe, as a stub, with a link to the first book, so if you love LF and want me to be able to keep writing consistently, please go give Clearing five stars! In the VRMMORPG, Veritas Online, things are getting a little stale. Since the game launched, only one world- wide event has occurred, and that was a year ago.. The players are still having fun, but everyone agrees it’s about time for something big to happen. Everybody tends to forget that big things grow from small things, and little things are always changing in Veritas. The human country of Quarternell is at peace for the first time in... ever. Aspen, a former war hero, feels like he’s earned a quiet life together with his animal companions. They’re tired of fighting, and other people in general. They plan to live peacefully, far away from the city. As soon as Aspen figures out this farming thing out, he’s never going to go anywhere again. Unfortunately for Aspen, his country and his goddess aren’t quite done with him yet.Rouge the Rogue is a casual gamer in Veritas Online. She’s just a kid, and her focus is supposed to be on school and hanging out with friends. Emphasis on ‘supposed to’. She’s already pretty good at the school thing, and she doesn’t actually have that many friends. What she really loves is exploring all the cool ways the developers of Veritas found to make their game unique and realistic. Then she’s offered a very special quest, and an opportunity to go beyond the average player. She’s never been that much of a rule follower anyway....Clearing is appropriate for most ages. It has minimal foul language, no sex, and some violence. It is LGBTQ+ friendly. (P.S. IMPORTANT! This book contains very mild profanity, no sex, and is meant to be FUN. Yes, the characters sometimes think Deep Thoughts, and idealism pretty much runs rampant, but, in the end, I hope you just enjoy reading it. Laugh, cry, share it with your kids, read it to your dog, whatever makes you happy. My goal is for it to be accessible to everyone from ages 12ish on up, so you could definitely consider it YA, but with lots of big words because I don't believe in talking down to my readers.) Book Two: Harrowing (Starts after the original Chapter Fifty, now Sixteen, since I condensed chapters from the same perspective together.) Zoey has started her summer internship at Veritas Corporation, and she can honestly say that being an adult is boring. Until she starts learning secrets she was never supposed to know. In game, Rouge is finally making progress on her big quest. Apparently Duke Penbrooke took too long to return to the world, so the world is coming to get him... in the form of a few assassins. Aspen is going to have to face the life he left behind, and deal with the fact that it's not as easy being 'dead' as he thought. When what he'd hoped would be a short trip back to civilization to resupply turns into a whole lot more, he'll have to fight for his life, his friends, and his kingdom. Book Three: Sowing Rouge and Aspen have reached Bright, only to find that their enemies were already expecting them. They will have to quickly unravel the mysteries of who their opponents actually are, because they're already ten steps behind. Rouge and Aspen are finally home, but that doesn't mean they can return to their peaceful days of farming. Their enemies are hot on their heels and determined to destroy everything they've managed to achieve. Join them and all their friends for the final volume of Legendary Farmer.

Apocalypse King: Progression System LitRPG
Hail, Apocalypse King! A LitRPG where the MC fights the System Apocalypse Invaders with military training, dark magic, and a Humanity, Fuck Yeah attitude! Hounded by trauma from combat and his childhood upbringing, Sergeant DeSean Solomon left the U.S. Marines and attends college alone. While at a house party, the world as DeSean knows it ends. All of humanity receives a System notification. Do you wish to be saved from the taint of chaos? A countdown starts. Time is of the essence.
