《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》81. Shutting Him Up

After connecting with his chin I lose most of my momentum. I place my hands on the ground, landing on them while swinging my feet down and back to the ground.
Gale drops to the ground clutching his throat, I must have hit him so hard he's out of it. He looks at me, his eyes wide with fear. The sight made my heart rush and my hands twitch. This face, I like it. His body starts to convulse snapping me back to reality. After only a second of movement, I see why he was acting so strange when the blood shoots out of his mouth. I can hear him choking for air and holding his head down as a torrent of blood pours out of it. In the pool of blood that was forming beneath his head laid a single object, a piece of flesh.
I don't remember bleeding that much when I bit my tongue off, was I just lucky?
"Do not engage him anymore, our medical team is on the way."
Before I knew it the platform was getting rushed by people who surrounded him. They had arrived much faster than previous, were they on stand by? There was a faint spark in the corner of my eye so I looked at the entrance of the arena. Justin was standing there seemingly itching to attack me, but he didn't move. So, he's waiting for me to do something that would give him a reason to attack me. It seems like they have taken a lot more preparations when it comes to my matches. Not surprising considering my history, though, I didn't mean to do it this time.
I could still hear him gagging on his own blood. I guess if I knew this would happen I still would have done it so there right to be prepared, especially if I'm fighting a prick.
"Bitch, I didn't mean to do this. I hope I'm not going to get locked up for this?"
"Now is not the time to discuss this, return to your room!"

"I'll go eat something, it is still mealtime."
She doesn't seem to be forcing me to go back to my cell, that's good. Although I still can't rule out the possibility that she'll just wait until I go back to my cell and then lock me up, even if that doesn't seem like her style. I walk off the platform and to Justin.
"Does this shit get you off, trying to kill someone?"
"I wasn't trying to kill him, this was an accident."
"Sure, that's what you made it look like. I know your kind."
"I believe that, your brother said he and I were alike."
"...Family is family. You'll pay for what you did to him, one day."
Hypocritical motherfucker! People like me, like Trevor, we shouldn't be allowed to live. We're nothing but a stain on the earth. I guess he's not the only hypocritical one here, but the difference is that this stain has one last thing to do.
I look at Justin who is looking to the side of me, "Give it your best shot, I won't hold a grudge."
I look away from him and walk down the hall where everyone was waiting. Carnie jumped up and down as I got closer to them.
"Oo, I'm guessing from how the Docs ran in there that you killed him?"
"I didn't kill him. The idiot bit off his tongue."
Carnie looked at me smiling, "Yeah, that sounds like something only an idiot would do!"
"Fuck you."
"Was it blatant?"
I look at Jason who was leaned up against the wall a few feet away, "No, it was an accident."
"Who was winning before it happened?"
"If you count running as winning then he had me beat by a mile."
"If it really was an accident then it sounds like you'll win the match by default. He'll be able to get a rematch if he wants but you'll have this one. This is only if what you did was an accident."

I see they all still think I'm blood-hungry. I'm not... I'm not
"So I'm safe?"
"Yes. I have reviewed the incident and it wasn't presumed to be intentional so there will be no repercussions. You are the winner of the match by default."
"Fine with me." As long as I'm not locked up again it doesn't matter, though it's nice that I'll still get a bump in ranking because of this. Not being the lowest rank anymore means people will be able to challenge me now, so I have to be prepared for that.
Well, I guess it's back to training.
leaving my room I made my way down the hall that led to it. Halfway down the hall is when I felt something, a fist? My body folds slightly as if I had been punched in the stomach, but that's not possible? I look around the hall and was able to see there was, not only no one, but nothing in the hallway beside me. Only a second later I feel an impact on my chin that causes me to fall to the side with my previously compromised balance.
No that was definitely a fist. It must be that no-arm bastard who follows Gale around like a fucking dog. I can't see anything, last time I could see his clothes--is he naked?
I hit the ground catching myself just before my head connected with it. I scanned around one more time before confirming that there were no signs of him at all.
"You think you can get away with what you did to him! I'll kill you!"
"It was a match, he lost. It's not my fault he bit some of his tongue off."
"He bit it in half! He'll never be able to talk again! Give me that shit you got from Veronica."
I continue trying to find any clue of how to spot him by focusing in the direction his voice was coming from, "No."
"NO! You think you can refuse?"
"You're just a naked dude standing in a hallway. Nothing about you is intimidating."
If he was an actual threat I could use my blood to mark him but there's no need for that. I hear him yell and I can tell he's charging at me because his voice is getting closer. I stand up and jump back while taking off my shirt. With it off, I swing it in front of me in a wide arch. The shirt wraps around what seems to be his torso by the shape and height of it.
If that's his side, then his head should be right about here. No, it would be too easy to miss, I should go for something I know I'll hit. Smiling I threw a front kick out, lower than it would normally be. I feel a body slam into mine almost causing me to lose my balance but I had braced for it. Grabbing what felt like his head I slammed it into my knee. I felt him reaching up and trying to break free so I kept kneeing his head. I could see blood gathering on my knee while some floated in the air I was attacking.
After the fifteenth strike, I felt his body go limp and it then became visible. Before I realized it I had one hand on his chin and the other on the back of his head, they were both prepared to pull in opposite directions. The temptation of snapping his neck angered me and I threw him to the ground.
I am in control. I control. I don't want to kill him I just want to kill. I don't want to kill him so I won't.
Taking a deep breath I looked up to the ceiling, "Come get him, he attacked me first so this shouldn't be a problem."
"I already have someone on the way. You may leave him there."
Stepping over him I tapped my pocket to make sure the vile was still there and continued my way to the training room, grabbing my shirt off the ground as I did.

Flame Beneath The Snowfall
Alto is a world governed by Tones. Magic, as one might call it. Manifested through deep mental and physical conditioning, one can control the Tones in a way that is unique to them. The power to store items in gems, transfer life, affect a person's mind, and even the more primal abilities such as control of the elements. Those who have these supernatural abilities are called 'Vassals.' People that fully manifest their abilities are not as common as one might think, and not all Vassals acquire their ability through practice, given if conditions are met. In fact, those who had received much trauma manifest the Tones more frequently, albeit spontaneously. However, the rare kind of Vassals are those who manifest it from childhood. A gift, but not without its repercussions. Alto is stuck in a transitional era, where the line between modern and dated technology is blurred. One can travel to a city that has a tall skyline, bustling with people in sophisticated clothing, or a mere town governed by a lord, all the while riding on a powered vehicle. Cultures vary: Some turn to the more dated practices such as castes, others are more inclined to set equal footing on their people, led by nobility. Some are dedicated to become scholars, studying Alto's Tones, while others set foot on hunts, protecting lone towns from the creatures of some of the still-untamed lands. And the Vassals? Those willing are took under The Organization, an elusive group, its presence said to permeate all throughout Alto, taking care of Rogue Vassals that abuse their abilities and other businesses related to their side. But what is this story all about, you may ask? Well, set your sights on the upper portions of this huge landmass that is Alto. Yes, the 'whole' world is called Alto, but that is because the majority of the known people live on this large continent. Relieve yourself of the worrying tensions everywhere, and see the white snow. Trace the piercing mountaintops and focus your eyes between the valley. A town sits there. Mido. After realizing that the memories only left in his mind was the night of his town's imminent destruction in flames, a boy finds himself grasping for every fiber of his life as he lays down flat on the ground. Beneath him was soot mixed with the white snow. Fortunately, a group of investigators, who were supposed to answer their call for help, saved him from his sorry state. With a newfound second wind, but hampered by his loss of memory, he must solve his own case: Who had the audacity to set Mido, his town, aflame? Flame Beneath the Snowfall focuses on action, with a sense of adventure, but mostly the discovery of an outside world, and the protagonist's exposure to it. Add in a whisk of soft magical elements, and you get a story that I hope will be interesting to the readers. That is not to say that my work is without the sense of unnerving atmosphere, however. As a forewarning, there are elements of gore, horror, minor elements of mental trauma, etc. so it is not for all audiences. *The book is already completed. Although I have plans to continue the story (it would have to involve much larger scope in terms of world-building), I have yet to decide when to start the next entry.
