《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》79. Missing Arms

I approach the table with my perception on, watching everyone's movements. Unlike the rest of the top five, this one was quite social. He constantly had a group around him and I don't know how they were going to act after I challenged him.
He looks to be around my height, he has a decent size and could have easily overpowered me when I first got here but now I was bigger than him. So even in straight strength, he doesn't have the advantage, this might be easier than I thought. He notices me approaching his table and eyes me up.
"I was wondering if you were ever going to challenge me."
Has he been watching me as I watched him? I didn't notice anything, wait, we're they watching me? I look at the group of three that followed him around. I hadn't been paying them much mind so it's plausible that they notice me and told him about it.
"If you know why I'm here that just makes things easier. When do you want the match?"
"Hold on now, I didn't say I would just yet. First, why don't you go a round with Stan, that way I'll know if you're even worth my time."
The fuck is he talking about? I don't have to prove anything, I have the lower rank so he can't decline my challenge. Besides, why would I want to fight some random?
"And what makes you think I'll do that?"
"Don't be rude to your superiors now, I'll go easier on you. If I have to fight you and you're not even worth my time I can't promise I'll be able to stop myself when I get ahold of you."
So this is what Wayne was talking about, this guy is a cocky prick. That also explains why he keeps the group around him, to boost his ego.
"I'm not wasting my time because you think I might waste yours. I'm only interested in fighting you."

"I tried being polite and this is how you treat me? You don't have a choice in this matter. Stan, if you would."
One of the guys sitting around him stood up and readied himself to attack.
You've got to be fucking kidding me! I just got my hour back and these motherfuckers think I'm just going to throw away my time with...
Like hell!
I look at the guy giving him the only warning he'll get, "You won't get anything good out of doing this."
He continued to stare at me and I could tell he wasn't going to stop. His arms then turned invisible, the sleeves of his t-shirt looked to be flapping in the wind, except there was no wind here.
Well, that is an interesting ability. Looks like it doesn't affect his clothes, he better not start stripping on me.
"Have it your way, WARDEN!!!"
I watched as all their eyes went wide and everyone in the cafeteria looked at me with surprised looks on their face. I don't give a shit what they think, I'm not losing my hour!
The armless guy had only stopped for a second in shock at my action before resuming his objective. He lunged at me, his body shifting and telegraphing his punches. I paid attention to his sleeves to track his arms general position. Weaving side to side, but mostly moving back, I avoided his punches. Glancing over my shoulder I saw Wayne holding his hands to his head and Carnie standing next to him pumping her fist. Of course, she's here. Focusing my attention back on the guy I continued to dodge and run away.
"Come ON WARDEN!! Plan on doing anything about this?" there was no response. What the fuck is she doing, I know she is watching us. "You don't even have to do anything! Just give me the clear to fight!" Again there was no response.
Damnit, get the fuck off of me! I throw a front kick out and knock the guy back.

"Tom, stand down."
I turn to face the speaker that the voice came out of, "Are you fucking kidding me bitch?" After finishing my sentence I felt something hit the side of my face. It didn't have enough force to move my head but it left a wet feeling on the side of my face. I looked over to Stan who I had knocked back with my front kick, he was leaned towards me with his face closest to me and his lips puckered. Wiping the side of my face, I could see the bubble in the saliva that was now on my hand. After looking at and drinking someone's saliva on a daily basis I knew exactly what it looked like.
He just spit on me.
I start to walk towards him instinctively. He moves towards me as I do and I start to feel a vibration from my neck. A second later I see a chair slam into him and he gets thrown to the side. I stop for a second at the unexpected occurrence and then look in the direction from which the chair came. Red was standing there looking at me. Everyone looked at us for the few seconds of silence we exchanged and then Red pipped up.
"Cut that shit out, I'm trying to eat here!" Red didn't have a tray or any food in front of her but no one question it. Red then sat back down and looked off into space.
Calming myself I walked over to the person I had actually come to challenge, "First thing tomorrow, you and me."
"Looks like Red saved her little pet from getting hurt. Fine, but remember you did this to yourself. I'll have you pay for what Red did to Stan."
"That's just because you know you can't do shit to her."
"Who the fuck do you think you are talking to! I'll have to teach you some respect."
I turn away from him and walk over to Red. Once I sat down I nodded to her, "Thanks for that."
"I don't know what you're talking about, y'all were annoying me so I stopped it. If you would have tried to continue it would have been you who would have been hit with a chair next."
I think she might even be worst than me when it comes to helping someone out. She just can't admit it when anyone is around and even if there isn't anyone around she'll remain silent. Carnie sat down next to Red and looked at me while Wayne sat down next to me.
"That was going good until you stopped them bitch!" Carnie punched Red in the arm and her fist ricocheted off of it.
"That went terrible, what did you say to him?"
"Man, I didn't say anything to him. He already knew I was going to challenge him and he tried to get me to fight that mother fucker on the floor so I could 'prove myself.' You saw me, I didn't want to fight that bastard!"
I don't know what the hell that bitch in a box was thinking but it pissed me the fuck off. Did she want to drop my ass for some reason?
"So when is the match?"
"I told him we would do it first thing tomorrow, so around the first mealtime. I'm going to enjoy tearing him apart."
"Don't go getting yourself disqualified just yet tight-cheeks. Alright, come on punk, let's go get some food!" Carnie pointed for Wayne to get up and, as she stood, she whispered something in Red's ear that caused Red to blush.
Red looked away from me but spoke, "So, you going to train today?"
"No, I'll save some energy for the match."
Red nodded, still not facing me.
"So, you know anything else we can do around here besides eat and train?"

Beast
A threat to the galaxy has come from another, and the Union of intelligent life will go to any length to stop it. Military Quarantine has held for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Traders, merchants, colonists, and Pirates live risky lives along the fringes as the politics from the inner systems fail to see the larger threats beyond their borders. A lone human finds himself far from home with no memories to how he arrived. A failing Trade vessel plays on a desperate gamble, while a malicious parasite searches for a suitable host. ............................................. Author's note: Beast is a story that I wrote a long, long time ago. Some of you might have read it then, back when it was posted on reddit over at r/HFY. It was my first webfiction and made in the spirit of that subreddit's "genre" of humanity being awesome. But, it is also a story that has bothered me a little bit. Just like most new writers tend to do, I made mistakes and errors that feel painful to reread. A Space Opera will be a Space Opera, but I had prose that makes present-me cringe. Still, at the same time, the story is still very much a tale I've never given up on. It was my first adventure into fiction: Beast was a crazy adventure with bodysnatching aliens, galactic war, threats from across the universe... Posting this story here is a way to try and redeem myself a bit. I won't call it a complete rewrite, because it's not, but I have wanted to go through and correct some of the major issues Beast has for a long time and put it somewhere more accessible to read (instead of as posts/comments on reddit) and I figure that now is as good a time as any. Additional corrections you might notice are welcome.

In a remote town, Henry, an energetic bookworm is thrust into the world as chaos engulfs his once seemingly peaceful world. His lord has a task for him, one in which will change his life forever. Wars brew, betrayal is at each corner, shadows step into the light, a supernatural force awaits the time to strike. Awakening an ancient civilization from their past may be their only hope now. A spiraling doom awaits the world of Isulia. **************** I put the gore and traumatizing warnings not because my book is overly gory. However, there are a few moments that may be traumatizing to some people. As for the gore, it shows up fairly often but not extensively. I've always loved violence in movies and books, (The Boys, Banshee, Kingdom of heaven, Vikings, etc.) I am descriptive of the scenes with gore. So be warned :) I have multiple MC and as a nooby writer, I've had a harder time writing from a female POV. Just a heads up. Don't kill me if I make the woman in my book seem weird. After the Long Burn
After the longest exodus in human history, a terrible accident threatens to turn the salvation of humanity into its most desperate struggle for survival. From the ashes of calamity rises a new human story. A frustrated scientist dedicates her life to recreating the Earth in alien soil, while another is gunned down for his sin and sets off a chain of events culminating in a desperate escape across the void for an opportunity at redemption. Around a distant moon a deep space miner stumbles onto a secret, the key to which lies buried inside his own tortured mind. After the Long Burn is an anthology of short science fiction stories set in the distant Ionad System. Author's Note: I thought I might try something a little different with this story. Rather than one story, it is six stories of varying length, each taking a slightly different perspective to tell a larger story. Some are more actioney, others more cerebral but I hope there will be something for everyone. Stories over 7000 words, with the exception of the titular After the Long Burn, will be published in two parts. I anticipate an upload schedule of one part every other day.

Children of The Sky: Heartcore
In the realm of Yggdrasil, there exist nine worlds. Each and every world has unique stories to tell, but there was one that stood out--The Floating World of Speir. In the land of Speir, the impossible does not exist; this world has given birth to thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of tales, fables, and legends. The fight for the fate of the world is a common occurrence and the neverending stories of the people which reside in it were all, by itself, always unique and interesting. Now, after many aeons have passed, the world has changed. Not only the power of magic could shape reality, technology also has the ability to change the world with just a thought. And from the world where futuristic technology meets magic, I have chosen to tell you a story, a story picked from countless others. This is the story of a boy who recently entered the prestigious, and the most powerful academy in all of the nine worlds--Yggdrasil Academy, to fufill his dream. What is his dream, you might ask. Well, allow me to show you the life of Reynard Foxtale, one of The Children of The Sky. *Warning. For those who don't like lengthy explanations or long talks, this might not suit your taste. However, the setting of my story does not adhere to most of the main stream fantasy/sci-fi settings. So, you might find my ideas unique or a little too weird and complicated or both. Whatever opinions you might have, I truly thank all of you who are willing to spend your time to read my story. *The cover (which is a picture I do not own) is not in any way an accurate depiction of the world in the story. P/S I will post this story on FictionPress as well. P/P/S I'm relatively new to this website, so if I made any obvious (to regulars) mistakes, please tell me. P/P/P/S Will update every two weeks. *Important: In Hiatus for now. **13/7/2017 Update. Check chapter nine (and maybe ten) post-chapter note.
