《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》67. Real Training

It's been one day, one excruciatingly long day. Jason said it would be best for us to calm down after what happened, so he told me to come back the next day and we would begin the 'real' training. I'm not sure what he meant by that but I wasn't excited to have to wait a day, however, he is my best option when it comes to a trainer so I gave in.
Since I couldn't train my body during this time I chose to train my perception, which inherently involves making the day seem even longer. I'm so fucking ready to get into this! My ability has been coming along well, I think. It's so hard to tell when you don't have a consistent sense of time. I hadn't wanted to admit it but lately, I have been subconsciously turning on my perception without noticing. I'll find myself questioning why someone is moving so slow before realizing my perception is on.
I consider this a sign that my ability is getting better because it takes less and less effort to use it. This, plus the fact that I haven't passed out lately tells me I'm getting better adapted to it, or I'm not training it hard enough but I hope that's not the case. If my timelimit has truly increased my next course of action will be improving my predictive capabilities. Experiencing time at a slower rate makes it hard to predict what an object in motion is going to do. Sure if it's close to me I can just assume it'll follow a straight path, but put a little distance between us and I can't really tell if it will fall to my feet, hit me, or have enough force behind it to go flying past me.
Fuck it, that will be future-me's problem.
Entering the training room I can hardly contain my excitement. With every day spent in here, I'll be that much closer to ripping him limb from limb. The seductive image of my hands around his throat while the life fades from his eyes dances around in my mind.

Jason wasn't at his normal spot by the weights, he was on one of the mats just sitting there. I approached him with curiosity in my step, so is the so-called 'real' training just sparing?
Noticing me he spoke up, "Go do your normal sets but increase the weight by ten pounds for each, once you're done come here."
"Are you not going to work out too?"
"Mine comes later."
I see, it wouldn't be that useful if he spent all his energy before training me. Well fine by me. I'll increase the weight as he said since I don't have to worry about injuring myself now. I did my cleans, bench, and squats, exhausting myself before making my way to the mat.
"From now on you can handle lifting on your own, you have the basics down but just remember to be explosive in everything you do."
"Should I start lifting slower to help muscle growth now that I can make progress faster?"
"No, you don't want muscles, you only want the muscles you need and you'll get most of those through our training. It's better to have trained muscles than have muscle for lifting, the lifts you do now are just to increase your foundational strength, what you need will come, trust me. There's no need to try an pack on muscle because at the growth rate you now have, it's inevitable if you put in the time."
Easy for him to say, he's twice my damn size.
Jason looks away from me and up towards the ceiling, he remains that way for some time before a certain voice comes from it.
"(Click) Yes, you now have full combat capabilities due to your circumstances. You will not be stopped."
Everyone else in the training room looks around in confusion, probably wondering what the hell that bitch in a box was talking about. I however can piece together what must have just happened because of what I know.

Jason looks at me with a serious face, "This is purely for physical benefits so no using our abilities, agreed?"
I nod in understanding and we begin to walk towards each other as we put our hands up. Strictly speaking, I believe not using our abilities puts me at more of a disadvantage than him, I will have to actively fight off my ability while he doesn't have to worry about it.
As I contemplate this I get punched in the face, or was I hit in the side, no it was on my chin... it was all three. I hit the ground in pain, but it wasn't anything I couldn't handle, I got back up to my feet only to have a foot slam into me. Ignoring the pain I throw blows of retaliation at Jason. Then Jason does the same. Repeat, and repeat, and repeat. If not for the difference in skill between us, the size difference alone makes it obvious who will come out on top. With each exchange of blows, I get beaten more and return less.
As we continue this endless brawl it quickly turns into a blood bath, neither of us was wearing gloves so our knuckles sliced up one another. I could feel the blood dripping from my face, and I could see it spread across the mat, but we didn't stop. Regrettably, it took me a while to realize what we were doing, in the beginning I was just hitting because I kept getting hit but I figured it out eventually. We had no reason to hold anything back, sure, neither of us was going for a lethal blow but we were using everything up to that. With each strike, I damaged my muscles and my hands while gaining combat experience. The use of my muscles would cause them to grow stronger and the damage to my hand would cause the bones to become denser.
This was training my strength, speed, and durability all while honing my skills. It made no sense for us to stop when a normal person would so we continued well beyond this line. I know this because as I fought more and more people began to leave the training room. Towards the end of our session, we were the only ones in there. It hadn't been long, I only knew this because the signal for me to return to my room hadn't gone off yet. Eventually, I succumbed to the pain and injuries inflicted on my body and collapsed to the floor. I laid there with my eyes swollen shut and my hands aching. I was positive I had broken a couple of fingers and maybe a few toes at that.
"Now heal up!"
Stumbling through my pockets blindly I found the vile and put it to my lips. Even in my current state, I was careful enough to drink it slowly so that I didn't consume more than necessary. The feeling was horrible. Just like when my tongue healed the feeling of body parts moving that shouldn't be able to assailed me. The skin around my eyes reconnecting, the swollen lumps all over my body draining into me, and the feeling of bones regrowing all caused more pain than they rid. Finally, everything came to a stop and the pain quelled. I made my way back up to my feet and placed the vile back in my pocket. Though the vile was small it was made of something quite strong so I didn't worry too much about it breaking.
Feeling exhausted I addressed Jason, "Again tomorrow?"
"Go do your lifts and increase the weight by one pound." That's all he said before sitting back down on the spot he was at when I had first arrived.
Wait, does he plan to do this again?

The Apocalypse Show - Dungeon Core
There were lot's of ways that people had predicted that the world would end. A few even had it partially correct. But how could they have predicted it would be a combination of the system apocalypse and aliens. Specifially aliens that wanted to create the equivlant of a TV show about the system apocalypse on Earth. Arthur woke up with a headache and the option to create a character. Most people would have gone with the safe choice and selected to stay a human. Arthur suspected that wouldn't be the safe choice in his new world. Instead he decided to see what other races were available. Eventually he decided to become a dungeon core instead. Of course being a dungeon core comes with a number of challenges. Starting with the fact that he was a giant crystal instead of having a body, managing a bunch of unintelligent minons, and most importantly the reaction of his human neighbors when they discover him. If he can overcome these challenges he may be able to enjoy some of the benefits. Such as the fact that dungeon cores are immortal and he would eventually have an entire army of dungeon minions that would obey any of his commands. Perhaps even find some female companions that are looking for a safe place during the apocalypse. Warning: If this fiction was a movie I'd rate it R for occasional scenes of violence, gore, nudity, and sexual content. This isn't something you would find in the young adult section. This does not mean that this would be rated NC-17 or X, if that is what you are looking for try lewd dungeon.
