《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》58. The Silent Conversation
Advertisement
I stand across from Jason once again. His face doesn't have much expression to it, but what it does have gives off a sense of annoyance rather than anger.
I guess annoying him instead of angering him is a step in the right direction.
Though it has only been a day the construction in the stands has already finished, but more surprising than that is the number of people in the audience. While it's not close to the number of people that were at my match with Red, it's a great deal more than any other match since.
The bitch's disembodied voice echos out, "BEGIN."
Like the last match, he makes no motion to move, but that's fine. I was hoping for this, after all, wouldn't want my experiment to have too many variables.
Focusing solely on his face I activate my perception. His eyes squint slightly and his jaw tightens.
He really does react to my perception being activated. Nothing other than the speed of my mind changes, so he must have a connection to my mind. This has to be his ability, I just need to figure out what it is so I can exploit it.
Suddenly the once still Jason is now hurdling at me.
Why is he charging at me? I have time slowed so it's only been a few seconds since the start of the match, if that. Guess he decided not to use the same strategy as last time, but it's already too late. I've figured you out.
You might be in my head, but that doesn't mean you can keep up with my thoughts!
I ramp up my perception to the max making the world stand still.
When I get within his reach he throws a right kick out at me. I don't know whether it's a feint or not, his last one was so good I didn't even notice it. I'll just have to do something that will work in either situation. I rotate my body to my left and catch his right leg, but I don't stop rotating. I grip his leg as hard as I can, if I'm going to throw him I'll have to put in everything I've got!

I feel his leg press against my side, it's remarkable, with only one leg to balance on he is still threatening to stop my rotation. I drop my center of gravity while putting all my weight on my right leg. With this I can extend my left leg out far enough to reach him. I sweep his left leg out from under him with my own, in doing so he gives way to the force of my throw.
I'm not strong enough to throw him over my head with the leverage I currently have, but I'm able to swing him around my side for a short distance. Using the force of his own kick, my rotation, and the dropping of my center of gravity, I feel him fly through the air. However, I feel something else too, a hand grabbing the back of my shirt.
Damit, what is this guy! I'm throwing him by his lower calf and he's able to fight the force of the throw to reach down, grabbing my shirt.
He slams into the ground but it brings me no joy because I know what's coming next. The force of his fall transfers to me through his arm and I get lifted into the air. I do my best to change my trajectory but it's in vain.
This is going to hurt...
"Hey Tom, you did well that time! You lasted a couple of seconds longer and you even landed a hit... if you can call a grab a hit, either way, you were able to touch him!"
"So I was knocked out again."
"Yup, landing upside down on your head will do that."
"Where's Jason?"
"How did you know, is it one of those 'we spoke to each other through our blows?' He said to meet him in the training room once you woke up."

"Do I have time?"
"Yeah it's mealtime right now, it was announced while you were taking your nap."
Wayne and I made our way to the training room, Jason was lifting weights in the back. When I entered people looked at me in shock, as if they couldn't believe I was coming back for more. I doubt I'll be fighting him though.
Brushing their looks off I went straight to Jason. By the time I was standing before him he had just racked the weight he was tossing around.
I hesitated for a second but decided to speak first, "So I guess you know I figured out about your--" I was quickly cut off.
"Not out loud, we will discuss anything related to abilities like this."
This voice, it's in my head, I wasn't expecting this.
"You'll get used to it."
So not only can you read my thought's but you can transmit yours? I take it you know why I'm here then. You'll train me or I'll let everyone know what your ability is.
"You think you're the only one with information? Don't forget I know what your ability is, I've been in your mind and I've experienced it."
I need your help, and if I have to put my information on the line I will do it.
"Why do you want me to help train you so bad, I can see why you would want me, specifically, to train you since we have similar fighting styles. But why do you need to train in the first place? You could do it on your own just fine."
I don't have the time to do it normally. I have someone I need to kill. I would rather have your girls healing ability.
I feel a splitting pain run through my head and the next thing I know Jason has me pinned against a weight rack. I'm sure to everyone else it looks even more terrifying than it is because to them he's just staring at me without saying a word, but to me, he's screaming.
"She's NOT just an ability! She isn't something to be used! You and everyone else, I don't care what information you have or what you will do to me, you will NOT touch her!"
Calm down! I was just suggesting that it would be nice if she helped me, but if not, the second-best thing would be to train with you. If I can't greatly improve my body in a short amount of time then I'll do it to my skills.
"So that's why you want me to train you?"
Yes, I swear! There's nothing I want more in the world than to kill this person, and to do that I'll do anything. Right now, that means getting as strong as I can. That's why I need you. I don't want or need your girl, I just want to get stronger that's all.
He slowly lets go of me and my feet regain contact with the floor.

My goal as of 2020 is to write full time, but I am still a fairly new author (and this is my first real work), so please be patient with me as I learn and grow. The Calculator - Supervillainess Time Loop
What makes a terrifying villain? Is it ruthlessness? Is it how powerful they are and how many buildings they can down in one blow? Is it how hard they are to kill, contain, or get rid of in any manner? Is it their knowledge of a hero’s true identity in a world where secrets must be kept? Or is it perhaps how they seem to be perfect in all their actions, defeating the hero at every step of the way throughout to the last one, only to humiliate them one last time before declaring themselves the winner in the grand scheme of things? Isabella Blair is perfect. She knows all your moves before you even make them. All your ambushes are faced with traps and she dodges all your blows like it’s child’s play. Catching her is impossible because she’s always ten steps ahead of you. She says she calculated everything, but she messes up in every fight. She loses far more than she wins, sometimes a hundred times for just one small victory. Yet, she is perfect. How is that possible, you may ask. That’s because she has the uncanny ability to return to the past whenever she makes a mistake. All that’s left in the end can only be what’s perfect if all the realities in which you’ve lost are gone, after all. And that makes for one hell of a terrifying profile. Crossposting on ScribbleHub, SpaceBattles, and Wattpad. Don't mind the "Pre-Rewrite" Volume. It is there for reference until the story catches up to the chapter count via the Rewrite (and to justify the current reviews as there would be no context to them otherwise). If you are a first-time reader, feel free to start from the other Volume.
