《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》40. The Compliment

When she reaches the table I get a good look at her noticing something I had missed--She's kinda hot.
Tobie would have laughed at me if he heard me say that. She clearly isn't your average woman, she has muscular arms and shoulders, but compared to how built her legs were her shoulders might as well have been that of a young girl. Everyone was wearing the same basic uniform with slight variations to each one. It was two things, stiff and baggy. I hadn't seen one person here whose clothes looked like they were the size for them, except her shorts, or rather her pants she had ripped off below the knees. It looked like she was wearing skinny jeans.
Bringing me back to reality was Wayne's head slamming against the table, he would have gone face-first into his tray of food but it was further out in front of him than I remember. She looked at me while holding his head down, "Whose this Wayne, you trying to make a new friend again? Who knows you might finally get one, haha, this guy looks like enough of a bitch to fit in with you!"
With his head against the table, Wayne replied, surprisingly calm, "Hey, red. I just met him, please don't--" Next thing I know Wayne goes flying as if he was a bowling ball, sliding across the floor a good ten feet.
She just threw him that far with one arm?
She grabs the edge of the table lifting it off the ground and repositioning it behind her as if it was just a chair, then leans against the edge of it. "So who the fuck are you suppose to be?"
Looking past her I see Wayne getting up off the ground signaling that he's fine. 'Whatever you do, don't piss her off!' his face was saying.
She seems pretty pissed off already, she chucked your ass like a god damn frisbee! Fuck, what am I suppose to do? I'm trying to keep a low profile, I can't be getting mixed up in this shit.

"What the hell are you looking at, I asked you a question!"
Shit, stop looking at her thighs, "I'm, Tom?"
She grabs me by the shirt and lifts me straight up into the air so I'm eye level with her, my feet dangle just above the ground, "What the fuck can you do, huh? Why is a scrawny ass like you in the max?"
I hear voices coming from around the cafeteria.
"Oh shit."
"Here we go again!"
"I can't believe she's really doing it to him too."
"He's a max isn't he, she might regret this?"
"Nah, she's gonna kick his ass!"
No, let's not go! I don't want to fight anybody! "I can't do anything, I don't have an ability." As soon as I said that I could see a vein rise on her forehead. Wayne's jumping up and down shaking his head behind her.
"You think you can fuck with me?" My whole body whips up into the air, feet above my head, then I slam down on the table with all my injuries screaming out. "First you come in here with your arms wrapped up like some fucking emo, then you decide to lie to me?"
Wait a second, is she lifting the table? Oh shit, Oh FUCK!
The table goes flying across the room, with me on it!
Time slows, I push the table with my legs, putting some distance between me and if for when we hit the ground.
Damnit, I'm not going to be able to adjust and land on my feet.
I put my arms out going into a dive roll and bracing myself for the pain that's about to come. As soon as my arms hit the ground I feel the pain stabbing at my bandaged arms. Fighting through it, I manage a roll and make my way back up to my feet.

I hear Waynes voice coming from behind me, "How did you--"
Looking back I see a pair of red lips heading for me, "You better show me what you got bitch!"
If I don't dodge I'm going to be obliterated by her punches, but if I do I'll reveal my power. Well maybe not completely but the more extraordinary stuff I do the less chance I have of convincing them that I don't have a power. If I can't dodge and I can't take the hit, then the only option is to stop the hit itself.
How the fuck am I supposed to do that? Come on, think! There has to be something I can say to catch her off guard, something, anything!
I watch her as she runs towards me, time running slow.
This is the only thing I can think of, opening my mouth I speak, "I love your lipstick." Her body stops in front of me, her face scarred with confusion, "Wha--"
A voice comes from the ceiling, no from everywhere. The walls, ceiling, and echoing off the floor, "That's enough Jacklin."
That's the bitch in a box, isn't it?
Her face turns almost as red as her lips, but for some reason, she didn't have any veins in her forehead like last time.
God, she must be so mad her blood stopped!
The bitch in a box continues, talking with Red-lips. "You've done enough, if you want anymore you know what you have to do...Jacklin."
Red-lips or Jacklin turns away from me and starts stomping away. "Jacklin? I think you're forgetting something?"
Oh shit, she's coming back this way, but she won't even look in my vicinity. She gets right next to me, grabs the table with one hand lifting it up, and resting it on her shoulder as if it was just a bat or sledgehammer. She turns on her heel, walking back to the general area where it used to be, and just tosses it to the ground.
"Thank you, Jacklin (click)."
I can hear everybody starting to whisper as soon as the intercom turns off.
"Stay out of her way!"
"Yeah, she's going to be pissed after the warden used her name."
"Did you hear how many times she said it? That had to have been on purpose."
Wayne comes running up next to me, "Shit, dude are you alright? You did a good job at not pissing her off, but you probably should have left out the 'I don't have an ability' part."
"You call that not getting pissed off!"
"To be honest that's a little bit worse than normal for Red, probably just because your new. That and the fact you're a max."
"I told you I don't have--"
"Yeah, yeah, give it a rest. What did you say to her anyway, you had to have said something to make her stop like that? The warden didn't start speaking until after she had already stopped."
"It was the only thing I could think of, I said her lipstick looks nice." Looking over to the now silent Wayne I see his mouth hanging open, "What she's a girl right? Girls like that kind of thing, right?"
"The hell if I know I've been here most of my life but I can't believe you. Yeah, she's a girl alright but, well she's Red!"
"Should I have not said that?"
"I have no idea on that one bud, but I can promise you one thing. Nobody here has ever said that to her before."

The Rig Mechanist’s Maintenance Report
More than a generation had passed since the creation of a new type of weapon, one that outclassed anything else, but the creator put limits on the technology to prevent it from being used in aggressive combat. With the powerful humanoid weapons, rigs, there to stop battles from breaking out, new ways of taking land had to be developed. That led to the sport of rig combat; powerful weapons pitted against each other with countries betting land and resources on the outcome. But it wasn't just the machines and pilots that competed; the workers that ensured the rigs were able to fight had battles of their own. A mechanist's fight begins before the first shot is fired and their minds are their best weapons.
8 108Gina the goblin, Dungeon Extraordinaire
Goburi was a goblin, a very poor goblin and now that she was dying that meant one thing, she could not even pay the toll to cross into the afterlife. Goblins worshipped gold, gold watched over them and Goburi had never earned or lost a mote, finding herself to be something of a heritic. Like most descisions in life it had felt like the nobler pursuit at the time, but with the darkness closing in, she realized how terrified she was. Even if she had died in debt, the great elusive glimmer in the depths would have put her soul in a new body, bringing with her the debt and some vague memories. Another chance to die in the black. Goburi's last thoughts were dark specters of regret chasing themselves in circles of thought until she prayed for it to be done. She really had no idea where the souls of goblin heritics went, it had never really happened before. A new dungeon was born, a crystal of pure magic containing a soul that failed to pass to the afterlife. As it gained awareness something else came through that was never supposed to be there. Memories of a workshop, and an uncomfortable need to earn gold.
8 125No Strings Attached [Rewritten]
Warning Just so you know, you better be paying attention to the chapter title or else it's going to be like travelling across multiverses. Explanation Due to a single comment made by a wonderful person, or some douchebag in real life, I have decided to create two seperate stories. A rewritten version, and the original version. The rewritten version will somewhat follow the original storyline of the original version, but will have extra content, extra side stories of course rewritten personalities. The original one will be like a rough draft of where I want the story to go. Like for instance, the original story is like the first Link from 'Legend of Zelda', choppy but fun to read. The rewritten story is the Link from any game during and after Windwaker, smooth and somewhat follows the main premise. Overall both are going to be probably terribly done but hey, I'm creating a furture and past story so what should you expect. - Styx Whatever just put up the revised description. - Ariel Edited Summary Jay W. Blu, a dashing and charming rich boy who's been spoiled his whole life. He is very cocky, has a case of egomania and isn't exactly what you call a 'Relatable Main character', unless you somehow fit one of these descriptions and then relate all you want. He had everything you would probably want if you weren't pessimistic, realistic, or chronically depressed. But as most reincarnation/summoning stories go, he get's himself killed at whatever age he was and is sent to another world. Normally, he would be summoned as something you would call a hero, but since that's to cliche by my standards he is something else. Instead of being the hero of the people that he was told about by a friend, he instead summoned as the anti-hero aka, 'The Hero of Demons'. Now he must traverse the lands slaying opposing heroes as he tries to keep his mind straight, although it's to late. There will be weird people along the journey like a fangirling war general, a hive mind and a manly magical girl? Oh well, Jay is too pure to see love anyways.
