《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》No Place Like Home

I open the last door of the building, making my way to the sidewalk. "Why would they let me go like that?" When I was leaving it sounded like the Sargent started to argue with someone. What is going on?

"You have me to thank for that."

"You!? Wait, you’re not the one I've seen before. Who are you?"

"Well, we thought you might have a negative reaction if we sent the same person to pick you up. So they opted to go with me instead. I hope you don't have any unwanted feelings towards me, this is the first time we've met after all."

How many of these fucking guys do they have? They look so similar because of the suit, shades, and hairstyle but he is definitely someone else. I can't get a read on this guy at all, he doesn't even have a smirk or anything. Just a plastered face, as if it was painted on.

"What do you mean by I have you to thank?"

"Well, I was the one who got you out. It helped that the officer with a prior connection to you decided to try and interview you but if that wouldn't have happened, I had a few other plans."

"Why would you get me released?"

With everything that has happened, including the untimely death of your mother. My condolences. We think now it would be best for someone as 'special' as you to come to our facility. It is specifically designed for people like you. It can help--"

"I'm not special! The only special thing about me was my Ma and she's dead. I tried to explain this to the last one of you but there is nothing 'special' about me. You've got the wrong guy."

"Please, I don't want to have to go the other route. People who have abilities need a certain, delicate, care. When they don't have that they can do things without understanding the full consequences. Such as murdering close to two dozen people, as an example."

"I don't have a fucking ability and their deaths weren't my fault!"

"I see. If there is nothing I can do to convince you then I apologize. This is my failure."

"No apologies. You just have the wrong information. Now please, leave me alone. I just... want to go home."

"Of course, use the time you have left as you wish." He turns and walks away.

What did he mean by ‘Time I have left?’ I guess that's obvious, isn't it? Without him and whatever, he works for the police will probably just pick me up again and this time I won't have anyone to bail me out.

No, that isn't going to happen. I won't let it. I have to find that other agent. I have to find out what he did to me, exactly what he did. I'll make him admit it this time. I know he was the one who made me do all of it. I just have to get him and then I can use him to clear my name.

But first... I just want to be alone. To be home just one last time.

Walking the hour's blend together. It's a long walk back to my house--what's left of my house. I can't help but reminisce on the times I spent with Ma. Just like the times I spent with Tobie; they'll never happen again. All I have left of them is the memories. The problem with memories is the ones soaked in blood come to mind faster and stay longer than the others. So even my memories will never be the same.

Oh look, It’s Aaron's house I didn't realize this was on my way. As many people as always I see. The only difference is the look on their faces, oh, I guess that's because of me, isn't it. Yeah, they all look terrified when they notice me. The ones who haven't noticed me still have the "let's fuck something up" look on their faces.

When I get close to the house and start to pass it everyone stops, there isn't a single person who doesn't notice me. They all watch me intently.

"Don't worry guys I'm not in the killing mood" is what I should say to them. No, let them stare, what do I care.

By the time I make it to my house, it's dark. It's blocked off but I just go around back and hop onto the roof, making my way to the window. "Yep, still unlocked." I open the window and enter the house.

It's completely untouched just as if I had never left. The upstairs might as well be a beautiful painting because I can feel the tears begin to form, I pay them no mind. I make my way to my mother's room, standing by the bed for a while before curling up in the sheets.

"I wonder how much time I have left? Maybe if I knew how much time has passed I could make a guess?"

Does it really matter, it doesn't change the fact that it's going to end? Part of me wants to give up, but part of me can't quit. Not after what he did to me, how much he has taken. I've always heard revenge is one of the worst human emotions. Maybe it's because revenge is the most powerful. With love, I felt content. With happiness, content. Pleasure, content. Pain, content not to feel it. But revenge? I feel bottomless. Whether that is good or bad I don't know but it's why I'm alive. I will repay what has been done...because that's all I have.

I lay in my dead Ma's bed. My arms are bandaged, a gunshot wound in my left arm, my face swollen and bruised, and it's all I have.

...so tired...

Knock, knock.

I open my eyes unsure if my mind was playing tricks on me.

Knock, knock. The sound echoes throughout the house and into my Ma's room again. I stand up and walk downstairs looking at the door in disbelief.

Who would be?

Knock, knock. I walked to the door not minding the tape and cards marking evidence on the ground. I open it and a set of shades greets me. "What do you want? Are the police here to pick me up already?"

"No, no police, but it is time for you to come with me."

"Go with you to the police station?"

"..." He throws a right straight at my face, and I dodge it with ease.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?"

"..." He goes to do a left kick against my head. I turn while grabbing it out of the air. With my back to him, his leg on my left shoulder and my grip on his ankle, I squat down using my momentum and leverage with his leg to throw him over my head. He slams into the ground sliding to a stop but recovers fine.

"You do that again and I'll fucking hurt you!"

"I believe you would and judging from our little exchange you certainly could. I apologize for that but I had to see it for myself. It's not every day I meet a kid of the street who has no formal training yet can keep up with me."

"Maybe you’re not as good as you think."

"This is an area I'm quite confident in, it's the reason I was chosen as a replacement and how I can tell your good from just our little exchange. I could probably take you in your current state, it's honestly impressive you can still fight with your body like that. But it would take some effort and time, not taking into account the possibility that I might lose if you have something up your sleeve. Luckily we planned with the expectation that you could beat me; I am just a normal person after all." He fixes his suit while talking then, out of nowhere "Send it Push and Pull."

"What, who were you talking to? Who's coming?"

He walks up to me casually, "Please step aside I would rather not be here when 'they' get here."

"Why should I let you leave?"

"Trust me, you're about to have your hands full. You'll want me gone, look, I mean you no harm." He puts his hands behind his head, walks past me, and out of the doorway.

The last thing I need to do in my state is just fight people on a whim. I'm not being controlled by him anymore, I'm in control. Besides catching his kick fucking hurt!

I shut the door locking it behind me.
