《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》The Unseen Damage

What, what's going on. Shit, did I get knocked out?
I lift my body off the ground, stand up and go to take a step, tripping and falling back onto the floor.
I scan my surroundings. Everything... everything's so red. The TV is on the floor, and the table that had been in front of the couch was now across the room upside down. Bodies lay on the floor in pools of blood. Looking around I see the two brothers lying next to each other. The one who I had stabbed in the arm with his big knife now laid next to his brother with his head turned too far backward for it to not be broken. His forearm with the knife in it now rests over his younger brother's throat, the knife sticking through it and out the back into the wooden floor. Across from them Bryan Cole, aka Chipped-tooth motherfucker, lay on the ground his throat cut so far open that his head now lays on his own back facing the ceiling.
"I don’t remember..." I back up, my feet hit something and I fall to the floor catching myself in a sitting position on the ground. My legs laying on the thing I tripped over, the person. A girl. Her face was so beaten it was hardly recognizable. Her neck had handprints around it. She laid on her side facing me.
"FUCK!" I crawled away from her eventually running into a wall. I sat there shaking terrified of the sight I was seeing. Terrified of what it meant. I looked at myself. My hands were covered in blood despite my being uninjured, my clothes soaked in so much blood it couldn't possibly be my own.
"Did...Did I do this?"
Looking to my right I look out the front door that was being held open by the doorknob, it was plunged into the drywall. Dim, dispersed light started to brighten the sky making it just a shade lighter than the night, the stars beginning to hide behind it.

How long have I been here?
Tobie stood on the front porch looking up at the sky, his back to me.
"You're here?" I walk toward the door, a smile starting to form on my face before I remember what he said to me last time. I reach out, my hand passing through the doorway first.
"You were right, please! help me!"
Tobie turns around, his eyes red with tears, anger on his face. Turning his head away from me he speaks softly, "No."
I pass through the arch of the door as Tobie turns away from me, walking off the porch and across the road, fading away more with each step. My hand falls to my side, "What’s happening to me?"
WHAP!
Everything goes black.

Sentenced to the sea for a crime he didn't commit... Wrongly convicted of killing his lover, Li is sent off to serve his sentence in the privateer fleet of Mahlon, where he finds himself somewhere between a sailor and a pirate. He supposes it is a better way to die than wasting away in a prison cell for a crime he didn't commit. If it isn't the sea or sailing necromancers that threaten his life, perhaps it is his assigned partner, an unfriendly man named Ardlac who seems to want nothing to do with a stranger sharing his space. Li doesn't know that his unfriendly exterior masks a wounded soul suffering from a loss Li can understand far too well. But that is only one of the many secrets lurking around him and one of the many threats to uncover. CONVICTED is a low-stakes story about healing, recovery, and comfort. Originally posted on Tapas, I am now cross-posting this story on Royal Road, Wattpad, and Neovel.

I look at the mountain of paperwork before me. I'm overworked. Slowly, my eyes fall shut. I'm so tired of this... A loud 'bang' caused by dropping off another pile of paperwork made me bolt upright. My maid stands before, scorn in her eyes. Annoyed, I wave her away—this is not the first time that that has happened. And she is not the only one who does that. 'Hated by my own people,' I sigh internally and rub my temples. This is not what my 'freedom' was supposed to look like. My eyes hover over the ring on my finger. I tried, you know? Right now, I only want everything to stop. Maybe read some books, eat something delicious, and nap as often as I want to. Wait...I am the matriarch! Hell, I can do whatever I want! Books? I can pocket whole libraries in my domain. Food? Also, in my domain. Naps? Well, there are many cuddly nooks in there. Sooo...my domain has everything I need—dunno why I never thought of this before. All that's left is to relocate its entrance to another totally secret place. How about that hidden forest temple? Yes, let's go with this! Goodbye obligations, goodbye people who always want to take over, goodbye enemies, and at last, good riddance to the council that tries to marry me off to one of these fat ugly narcissistic nobles. Uhh, I just hope nothing will go wrong during my long-term absence. Nahhh, nothing will happen at all; I am totally sure of it...probably. ______ This is the rewrite of the old story: https://www.scribblehub.com/series/273362/seclusion-old-version--dropped/ Alternate Titel: I lived so long in seclusion that everybody forgot about me
