《The tribal queen and the Medic》chapter 13 - An Elven city

The small group walked through the jungle, wondering if they had left too quickly or abruptly. After all, after only around 4 hours of waking up did he immediately decide he was going to leave. He was considering going back and trying to say ‘hey I’ll help you all out a little more then leave’ but they had already been out walking for an entire week or two by now he felt as if it was far too late.

He glanced back to the two wolves and two Angelics following him, his small blue dragon sitting happily on the shoulder of Caperiol. He could see the tiredness on their faces, they should all probably stop so that they could take some time to rest. He was about to offer them some time to rest as they came over the edge of a small cliff. Jasion looked over the cliff and out to a large area of grassland. A large, white-walled city stood high and mighty at the centre of the grassland.

Jasion’s was jaw dropped as he stared at the massive city. It wasn’t as big as the city of thieves, but it looked thousands of times grander, he couldn’t believe that such a place existed without the help of humans. The group caught up with Jasion and stopped out of exhaustion. He felt bad for them, the only reason he wasn’t as tired as them was thanks to the demon’s power giving him a good boost in energy. He also hadn’t seen the demon in a while, but the powers still worked, Jasion wasn’t sure why this was, but he didn’t want to ask questions just yet.

“Hey look,” He said happily to the group as he pointed towards the elven city. The blue dragon jumped of Jasion’s shoulder where it had taken rest and walked over to Haunily and the others, probably making sure they were all okay. The wolves and Angelics all looked lazily over to the city.

“Anteriaela” Reveriol said as she stood beside Jasion, still catching her breath. She wasn’t used to walking this much, she was used to flying everywhere but Jasion had insisted on walking since they didn’t want to be seen by any amazon scouts.

“Sorry?” Jasion said not understanding what she just said.

“It is the name of the city, it ‘means welcome’ all in elf tongue.” She said a smile on her face.

“So, what’s the plan?” Jakkan asked, his sister leaning on his back out of exhaustion.

“How far do you think the city is?” Jasion asked, considering how long it would take to get to the city and find somewhere to stay, after all the city was called “welcome all” so he didn’t think it wouldn’t be hard to find somewhere to stay.

“Maybe another 2 miles,” Caperiol said as she stared out over the grassland.

“Reveriol, Caperiol, how much energy do you have to fly?” Jasion asked. Caperiol shrugged and Reveriol nodded.

“I have about enough to make a trip over,” Caperiol said.

“Same” Reveriol commented.

“If you were to fly ahead of us, could you try and find a place to stay?” Jasion asked. Reveriol and Caperiol nodded and flared out their wings.

“High elves are good with foreigners especially Angelics, so it is a good idea for us to go first,” Caperiol said. The two girls started to flap their wings and soon took off. They started to fly towards the city. Jasion watched after them, smiling under his mask. Jasion along with the dragon and wolfkin sat down and decided to rest and relax. The two weeks going through the jungle hadn’t been hard, just annoying and boring. Jasion by this point was so used to weird things happening he wasn’t used to not having to do any hard work. She was about to try and have a little rest before trying to get to the city when he felt a cold hand on his shoulder and a gentle familiar voice in his head.

“Sup! Looks like your awake!” Jasion quickly turned to see the demon standing over him, dressed in his usual full face black mask and smart suit.

“Fuck, where have you been?” Jasion asked quietly.

“Well, you were passed out from using too much magic, so I decided to go and do some light stealing and reading from the elven city.” The masked man said, taking a seat in front of Jasion.

“What?” Jasion said, not understanding what he was trying to say.

“I went for a walk, found the elven city, and stole some books on how to make armour!” The masked man said happily. Jasion’s mood quickly picked up as the idea of making better armour for the Angelics, wolves and himself came into mind.

“So, what you are telling me was you just wandered off, stole some books then came back?” Jasion said, realising this demon could probably cause some problems for them in the future if he didn’t find a way to control him from stealing what were probably important documents.

Haunily and Jakkan were both staring at Jasion, with looks of confusion on their faces. The demon wasn’t showing itself to them yet, preferring to reserve its energy, meaning that when Jasion appeared to look like he was talking to himself. The two wolf kin looked at each other and shrugged, not wanting to judge him too harshly, they assumed he was just tired and was probably seeing things.

“You think he is ill?” Haunily questioned.

“He may have caught something when we went through that swamp?” Jakkan theorised.

The demon summoned one of the armour books he had stolen into Jason’s hand. Jasion looked over the purple cover and the golden elven text that the mask automatically translated for him. The title of the book read ‘The Royal Private Military’. Jasion gulped as he realised the Demon may have just stolen from a very important person.

“Where did you get this?” Jasion asked the demon as he stuffed the book into his coat and his pocket.

“I don’t know, I wasn’t paying attention as I walked into some guy’s big house and started going through their things,” The demon said, acting like he did nothing wrong. Before Jasion could start to reprimand the demon, Caperiol landed in front of him. She quickly turned around, a look of panic on her face.

“Jasion, we have a problem!” She said, her voice reflecting her terrified expression.

“The amazons have already made it to the city and have placed up wanted posters of you! Reveriol has found us somewhere to live but you will need to hide your face.” Caperiol said, panting, she had flown there as fast as she could.

“Have some rest, will do meet up with Reveriol while you rest here with the wolves,” Jasion said, quickly turning his body to mist and diving towards the city. He trusted what she was saying, but he wanted to see it for himself. Pelana seemed to be moving fast and considering she was the queen of the amazons there was a high chance she probably had connections with the leaders of the city.

“Where is the next city where we can make money, to buy supplies to make the start of the village?” Jasion asked. The wolves and Caperiol thought for a few seconds.

“This is the only one for about 100 days or so, meaning this place is probably our best bet,” Caperiol said, sounding annoyed. Jason started to think to himself. He could probably steal or make some disguises for himself, and if anyone was to ask what race he was, he could probably get the demon to use illusion magic and make him have ears and a tail like a wolfkin. Despite this advantage, he was still scared. Despite the power of the demon the very thought of being captured or even meeting Pelana sent shivers down his spine.

“Ok, I’ll disguise what I look like. Caperiol, you take the wolves and go to the place where Reveriol has found for us to stay, on that note can you also tell me/give me directions to where it is.” Jasion said taking off his mask for the first time in a while.

Caperiol proceeded to give him directions before picking up the two wolfkins and flying towards the city. Jasion waited until they were out of view before he started to try and figure out how to use the illusion magic. Up to this point the only time he had ever used it was when the demon first combined with him, and he wasn’t even sure how he did it back then. Well, that was a lie, he knew the demon was the one that did it, all he needed to do was figure out how the demon did it.

The demon of the mask slowly appeared in front of him. Jasion didn’t notice as he stared down at the ground, deep in thought. The demon watched him carefully. So far Jasion had been the first human he had possessed that didn’t go mad with power, he was impressed. But on the downside, Jasion wasn’t very good at controlling him. The demon could still walk around freely and do things (even if the things he could do were on a small scale) like stealing the armoury book. He found Jasion interesting, to say the least. The demon knew if he wanted to, he could probably take over Jason’s mind and body that very second, but where would be the fun in that.

That was one thing the demon liked to do. Meet humans, get them on his side, then when they least expected it to take over their mind, body, and soul. These human vessels would all die eventually, meaning he would have to go and find a new one, but despite all the hardship, every time he did this, he found the cycle of chaos to be even more fun.

He continued to stare down at Jasion as he was thinking about all the possible ways the illusion magic could work. The demon didn’t know what it was about the boy, but he felt like he wanted to stay around him for a while longer, he felt like he didn’t want to try to take him over just yet. The demon crouched down in front of Jasion and placed a hand onto his head. Jasion looked up and smiled at the demon.

“Hey, could I have your help?” Jasion asked, making the demon smile from under his full-face mask.

“What do you require?” He asked in his deep demonic voice. The demon went on to teach Jasion a spell that triggered the illusion magic so that meant he could then manipulate it in any way he could think of. The spell would drain energy from him, but nowhere near the amount of energy, it would take to summon weapons from the black mist.

Jasion finally got the illusion magic to work, and he finally made himself look like a member of the wolfkin. The demon gave his thumbs up of approval and Jasion started to make his way towards the city. He used the time to stop to get there since he didn’t want to risk Pelana somehow finding him while he was alone and in an open area. If he was going to try to fight or be found by her, he wanted to be in a large area where he can quickly slip away into the crowd. He soon arrived at the white-walled city. He still couldn’t get over the sheer size of the walls that the thickness and well-crafted rock of the walls.

He walked up to the large iron gates. He started to move into the large crowds of other wolfkin, demi-humans, and elves. As Jasion moved through the crowd all he could think was that for such a large and important city, the city seemed to be very relaxed on the security. He soon realised though why the city was so open with its borders as he saw tall, blond-haired, intimidating looking High Elf clad in golden colour thick and strong looking armour, a man was standing on the sides of the gates. He looked like a bounce outside a night club, he looked like someone Jasion didn’t want to try to mess with.

Jasion kept his head down as he walked into the city, subtly using the power of the black mist to summon a hood over his head, and his mask onto his face. He moved through the crowd a little more. There were many Angelics and demi-humans of all different kinds of races bustling around the city. As Jasion walked through the crowd his eyes soon fell of Caperiol and Reveriol as they were standing on a pile of wooden crates near an ally way. Jasion gulped hoping the sketchy ally way wasn’t the place they were going to be staying.

He approached the Angelic girls and waved his hand to them. Despite not recognising him, they quickly realised who he was. He moved over to them and gave them a nod to say he wanted them to show him where they were staying. They walked him into a back ally. The small blue dragon crawled out from its hiding place in Jasion’s shirt.

They soon rived at a large surprisingly well-hidden house. A large wooden sign reading “white-walled inn” hung outside the large wooden house.

“So, this is it hu? This is where we spend the next few months?” Jasion said, sighing to himself. He could feel a shiver run down his spine at the very thought of Pelana finding them. He looked up to a balcony where Haunily and Jakkan was staring kindly down at him. Jasion smiled to himself as the two Angelics flew up to the wolfkin and started to talk excitedly with them. Despite the fear he had of Pelana, he was happy to have these lot by his side.

2 weeks after Jasion left the Wolf village.

The drums beat loudly as the amazons happily danced around the fire. Jenkari and several of the strongest amazons were prospering a large cooking spit over the roaring flames. The wolves looked on terrified from their cages as the amazons cheered and sounded their blood-curdling war cries. The older wolves held the eyes of the children so that they could see the ritual the amazons were preparing for.

Renra was tied to two poles, his arms and legs stretched out to his sides, attached to the poles. The amazons had painted him in sacred marks. Pelana, dressed in her usual war paint and gear approached him, the high priestess that sacrificed Ulana by her side.

“For the last time tell me where Jasion is! I smell his scent here wolf!” Renra held his chin high to the amazon as she pressed her knife into his stomach.

“I will never say!” he yelled proudly. He knew Jasion had told him to give up their location, but now his own daughter and son were with him, and he wasn’t willing to let this amazon get her hands on them. Pelana sighed, she was willing to do what she deemed necessary to get back Jasion, but she was hoping he didn’t have any close connection with the wolves she planned to sacrifice that night.

Pelana grunted angrily. It wasn’t any fun sacrificing a captive if they weren’t terrified and pissing themselves. Kalani and the three Lamia were over at the wolf cages. They were offering them fruits and medicines. Jenkari and Tanua were watching the Lamia from a distance.

“Why are they so nice to the mutts?” Jenkari asked. Tanua smiled and looked at Kelaina’s kind face.

“They are smart, they know Jasion may think highly of the wolves, they want to get on his good side,” Tanua said, completely not understanding that the Lamias were just being nice people.

Pelana grunted as she stared angrily at Renra. He didn’t seem like he was going to break easily. But she knew she could just try her best to use him as an example to scare the other wolves into place. She handed the knife to the high priestess and pointed at Renra.

“Make an example of him,” Pelana said smiling. The high priestess walked over to Renra and placed the knife down to his genitals, a sadistic grin on her face. Renra gulped, praying that his children were safe.

2 weeks later

Shivers ran down Jasion’s spine as he walked into the room, they would all be sharing for the next few months of his life. The room was dirty and old. But then again that was probably the best they could afford, but then again how were they paying for it? They had no money.

“Can I ask how we are meant to pay for all this?” Jasion said, hoping that they weren’t squatting illegally in someone else’s building. His fears were quickly confirmed as he noticed the awkward looks on the Angelics girls faces. He sighed. He knew living in this building was probably going to be highly illegal, but it would have to do for now.

“Well… we may have just found the place and moved in…” Reveriol said, making Jasion facepalm.

He had no clue how he was going to deal with these girls at this rate as it seems it despite them knowing they have to keep a low profile they were potentially putting them in a highly dangerous situation. Jasion knew they would have to make money as soon as possible if they were going to last there for more than a week without Pelana’s hoard finding them. Jasion started to think, they could probably make a decent living off hunting animals in the nearby forest as he didn't notice a fair few shops selling and buying furs on his way through the city gates.

There was a bit of a risk in case they ran into any of the amazons but considering how fast the jungle was they could always probably find a way to slip away and hide until the amazons gave up and tried looking somewhere else. What's the worst that could happen. He would need a disguise though if he was going to try and go out there as if he was to meet Tanua, Pelana or Jenkari there was a high chance they would recognise him even with the mask and illusion magic on and would probably attack him. He pulled the book from his jacket that the demon had shown him, the same book that whenever he wrote down someone’s name and he knew who they were it would show how strong they were compared to him alongside a detailed image of them.

He wrote down Tanua’s name. He scratched his face up out of annoyance as he read that one of her powers was that she could see through illusion magic I mean if they were to run into her it will most certainly be a death sentence not for himself of course but anyone else in the nearby perimeter would probably be injured or killed to the Amazonians disregard for most people.

Tanua’s skill set:

Tanua – Head of the Royal Healers – blue eyes, long brown hair, lighter skin than most amazons – can see through illusion magic and is good at using natural types of magic such as wind or earth.

Jasion Had to admit he was impressed he knew Tanua what's strong, but her magic level compared to his was still much higher. After all, her magic level sat around 3000, not as much as Pelana’s but still a large amount, and considering she was probably also more adept at using it if they would fight, she would most certainly win. So being that Pelana what's the best magic and strength compared to Tanua, he started to think what the stronger Jenkari’s powers may even start to look like.

He flipped to the next page in the book and wrote down her name along the top. The Angelics as well as the Wolfkin and the dragon were all busy talking and mucking about as the book started to put down Jenkari’s levels and skills. To say the least, she was fucking strong. Jasion gulped says he read her statistics, she matched both Pelana and Tanua in strength combined but lacked in magic, but for what she lacked in magic she did make up for in speed. Like her two Amazonian counterparts, Jasion knew that if used to fight with her again, he would most certainly this. He started to think about Kalani and the Lamia hoping that they were safe, the amazons hadn't harmed them. Jasion started to ponder whether or not he should go looking for them and tried to save them, they quickly pushed the thought out of his mind as he knew going after them just put everybody else in danger and would probably also put the Lamias in even more danger.

In the end, the amazons strength altogether looked something like this:

Pelana – princess of the amazons – red eyes, long black hair, dark skin – user of white flames – strength 200 – speed – 200 – intelligence 45 – age 200 – magic - 34224

Jenkari – Head of the royal guards – green eyes, short black hair, dark skin. strength 1000 – speed – 500 – intelligence 40 – age 211 – magic - 30

Tanua – Head of the Royal Healers – blue eyes, long brown hair, lighter skin than most amazons – can see through illusion magic and is good at using natural types of magic such as wind or earth. strength 100 – speed – 200 – intelligence 100 – age 210 – magic - 3000

For the time being, it was best for him to stay back with his small group at the moment, build up some money, become stronger and become more skilled with using the black mist. He wanted to help, he wanted to become stronger, and he knew the best way to do this was to take it slow and hopefully make some new allies within the city who are willing to side with him.

“Is it alright if I and one of you guys go down to the market and start looking for ways to make money?” Jasion asked.

Caperiol what's the first to raise her hand she wanted to try to find a way to make money the quickest. This is because she was raised in a very posh and rich area of their Homeland so living in such a run-down place as they were in right now was something she could barely stand. Reveriol on the other hand was mostly alright with it considering she was from the opposite end of the societal spectrum to Caperiol. Haunily and Jakkan didn't really care either as being members of the Wolfkin race, they were used to living in not exactly the best circumstances or places in the world.

“Ok then, I and Caperiol will go and look for money and you lot stay here and don’t fucking anything up,” Jasion said.

“Bu...” Haunily tried to say but was cut off by Caperiol. Caperiol didn't mean to cut her off on purpose she only just wanted to get out of the shithole of a house as quickly as possible.

“LET’S GO!” Caperiol cheered as she fluttered her wings. Jasion placed the mask onto his face and put his hand above his head using the illusion magic to make him appear to have wolf ears once again.

Caperiol rushed to his side and the two together left the building to go and start their small adventure for the day. As they left the run-down house Caperiol glance behind herself to see Haunily staring her down. She could only help but smirk in response knowing the Wolf was probably jealous that she was spending time with him rather than her, she also probably thought she was going to try and steal him, but for the time being she had no such intentions.

Jasion couldn’t help but smiled as he walked into the bustling city streets next to their house, he was finally going to start going down the path to be able to do something that could change the world and actually help people. He hoped that Ulana could see him from wherever she was whether it be heaven, hell or somewhere else.
