《Fiends》Love Letter from Me to You

Oh no, that’s the time already!!! Kacie had totally forgotten that he has movie night with his parents, Bella and Zavier tonight; accompanied by his older sister Majesty, whose only eighteen years old. He’s so engrossed in this love letter he is writing for his crush at school, the girl of his dreams. But that’s just it, she’s simply the girl of his dreams, and imagination of a perfect relationship, yet in truth, nothing but a hopeless romance filled with unrequited love. How sad loving someone that doesn’t even know you exist. That got to be tough, won’t you agree?
Kacie’s Love Letter
Dear, Kayla Mitchell
My dearest Kayla, I am in love with you; well I mean like you. Sorry, let me start over. My name is Kacie, from our math class and I just wanted you to know how much I think you’re beautiful and every time I see you, I tend to fall in love all over again. I really want to get to know you better and at least let you know who I am because I get a little nervous around others but once you get to know me, I’m a pretty cool person. With Love, Peace, and Respect. P, S Kacie Amadeus.
Do you believe in love at first sight? Well, Kacie sure does, getting butterflies in his stomach every time he lays his eyes on Kayla, as his desire for love gives her the image of a Goddess while he gets lost in ecstasy at only eyesight. The heart he possesses always seems to be mesmerized as it tries to capture the one on the other side but not having the courage to ask makes it difficult. Have you ever gotten that feeling?
Being frustrated with the letter; Kacie tossed it on the wooden table next to his bed and anxiously began to squeeze his stress relief ball. [Kacie soon after fell bitterly onto his cozy spring panel bed as he began to reflect on the letter along with deliberating different ways on improving it] “Urgh! Should I draw something to take the attention off of the bad wording?” Kacie pondered to himself. He gazed around, as his room was painted mint green for over 10 years but appeared as if it was painted a few weeks ago. Posters of his favorite role models furnished the walls, alongside a ply board that was covered with his school work. In addition, wooden flooring that has a loose floorboard that would squeak continuously like the door of an old abandon building. His bookshelf was filled with books of old that told endless tales of lost boys on magical adventures who always came out on top, while his bin was filled with failed attempts of love letters overflowing onto the floor.

[During lying down, Kacie looked over at a poster of his idol Sam Wesley] a wealthy man with many female companions. With a delighted smirk on his face, Kacie blurted out, “Ahh, rich guys always get the best girls and I bet they don’t even have to talk that much to get them either, sigh”. Kacie always had ambitions of becoming wealthy himself, but he always felt that money can solve all his problems. With that mindset, he had completely neglected the thought of having friends. For that reason, he was often seen as the antisocial child in his class, because he rarely spoke to anyone and he mainly focused on his schoolwork in order to become affluent. A 12-year-old with big dreams, huh.
[Kacie shortly afterward closed his eyes again in enthusiasm as he fantasizes about being with Kayla], because he knew it was safe to say that his love letter is just awful.
Oh, wait, what’s this? A sneaky one I suppose.
Majesty uttered from downstairs “Don’t worry mom, I will go get him”
[Majesty ran upstairs to tell Kacie that they’re ready to depart] When she cracked open Kacie’s room door, she saw him laying down on the bed with his eyes closed. Majesty assumed that he was asleep, so she thought sneaking up on Kacie to scare him would be a fun idea. [Majesty tiptoe as her feet approached him] She advanced with caution since she knew that the dreadful flooring would have ratted her out before she can make her move. As she draws nearer to him, she noticed a sheet of paper on the bedside table with words written on it. Majesty whispered to herself “Hmm? What do we have here?” [carefully, she picked up the letter and began to read it] While being absorbed by the love letter, she had downright disregarded the loose floorboard and had mistakenly made an iffy step which created a squeaky sound that exposed her location [Majesty muttered to herself, “Oh Crap!]. Kacie immediately opened his eyes to see what was afoot, he turned and saw Majesty; he said “Oh, is it time to g….?”. Kacie soon after perceived the letter in Majesty’s hand and quickly sprung up from the bed in an attempt to retrieve it from her. However, Majesty was stubborn with keeping ahold of the letter. [They tugged back and forth], both eager to obtain the letter until the tugging finally took a toll on the letter, ripping it into two. At that moment, Kacie experienced a burst of rage surging through his body, turning to Majesty as he shouted, “Look at what you did?!?!” [Kacie was furious] because to him what had occurred wasn’t just the simple tearing of a piece of paper but something extremely vexing. He attempted to conceal some of his frustration by squeezing the hell out of the stress relief ball.

Majesty replied with, “I’m...so...so sorry Kacie, we can write another one” but that wasn’t enough to calm Kacie down as he threw his half of the letter on the floor with disdain. “You always ruin everything,” Kacie said.
He aggressively told her to get out of his room. [Majesty continued to plead with Kacie] but he was having none of it, telling her to “Leave me alone.”
While they were arguing, and aggravated voice from downstairs yelled out, “Hurry up you two or we’ll be late!” [Majesty swiftly ran downstairs to get into the car as Kacie followed behind dispiritedly]

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
