《Assassin Alonne》Chapter 3

The wolf had gotten bigger and his aura seemed to get brighter. He also felt light than before despite his new size. This was all due to his level up.
Alonne could only imagine what his next evolution could be. He was ecstatic, then suddenly his tail stopped wagging. Alonne checked his status to make sure that the Evolution skill was what he thought I was.
[Evolution: When the user reaches the required level(or completes a secret requirement) the user's species will evolve into a more advantageous form.]
The wolf's tailed wagged with even more vigor than before. Alonne thought excitedly.
'Secret requirment! I want to complete it, but it's not called "secret" for nothing. Let's see, what are some things the wolves did when they were around...?'
The wolf pondered and pondered on what to do for so long that the sun was down and the moon was up. Then he got an idea.
'Howling at the moon!'
A loud howl that hasn't been heard in years echoed through the forest. Almost all who heard it were filled with fear. All except the hunters who slayed the monsters that is. The veteran hunters who hadn't heard a wolf's howl decades were happy to hear it and warded off the newer generations of hunters to let it be and opposed killing it.
"Did you hear that there's a wolf in the forest again? Its supposedly the fifth left in the world."
"A wolf? Oh you mean the ancestor of the dogs. I've never seen one before. Should we hunt it?"
An older gentleman in his mid forties was talking to what appeared to be his daughter in her early twenties.
"Of course not! Back when I was young the government would make hunting teams and include dogs as mascots and navigators. There were also elite teams that only the top guilds were allowed to create that had wolves as members. I hear that the temple guild and castle guild want to take this one as a team member. The government isnt very happy about it though."

"What can they do that hunters cant?"
"They have excellent movement based sight and can sniff out an enemy. Also they're adorable!"
*Loud howl
"What's that?!"
"Its the wolf that I was talking about."
The disheveled woman panicked at the sound she never heard before. The father enjoyed the sound that he hadn't heard in a long time and calmed his daughter.
"Let's go and see it."
"A-are you crazy?!"
"Dont worry, it's a beast not a monster."
"Wait they were here even before the rifts?"
A beast is an animal that was on Esen before the rifts showed up. Most of them are extinct now, but there are some surviving species like the wolves. Although they are hanging on by a thread.
The two were now walking towards the howl. The wolf was completely unaware of this as he was focused on a very specific task.
"Yep. My mother used to tell me about them. Like how they were once proud and on top of the food chain, even above bears or tigers. Do you know why that was?"
"Really? Why?"
"Its because they hunted in packs. There were also those who hunted alone like this one. I dont think that they will be able to live in the wild again before they have at least a full pack."
"How many are in a full pack?"
"Around 30 or so."
"30!?"
The two continued to chatter as the came across a white wolf sitting on a hill with it's head down and it's tail tucked at it's side. It looked sad even remorseful. It's fur shined in the moonlight. It also had a hazy green glow around it. The moon was behind the wolf giving it a dignified look.

"Awwww... it's adorable."
"...Spirit?"
Spirit was a rare power even among hunters. However those hunters who have it are powerful. Spirit can heat up the air, create a barrier against attack, empower the user, ect. If the user's spirit stat is high enough than spirit can even be used to attack the enemy.
"I dont remember beasts having spirit..."
___________________________________
'I guess it wont work. I suppose I should have expected that being that I howled in a full moon and it didnt do anything. I suppose I should try out howling at a lunar and solar eclipse and see if I evolve.'
A loud roar sounded off from nearby. Alonne saw an ogre down the hill he was on. It seemed to have a target that wasnt him. Alonne saw a young woman with brown hair and dark green eyes as well as middle aged man with graying black hair and a beard.

Yin-Yang
Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. And look at the way they live on their own, barely a step above animals. It’s better for them to belong to a mage. Sensitives in North America live on the edge of society and survival – typically so paranoid they avoid hospitals and anything else that could lead to being tracked, many of them with little or no education and no legal identity or existence. Mages exist, and mages want sensitives for some reason, but no one ever comes back to explain what that reason is. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage. Andreas is still mourning for his previous sensitive, though, unconsciously creating a difficult standard for Jax to live up to, all the more so while still struggling to come to terms with this new reality as Andreas’ sensitive. A runaway sensitive isn’t what Van expects at the mental health centre. Is this a hunter trap, set for him and the rest of the Donovan family by the hunters? The hunters would, after all, love to see them cross the line openly and finally do something they can be charged with. Either way, Miranda’s genuinely in trouble, and he can’t just abandon her to it. Snatching a sensitive out from under the hunters and hiding her is odd behaviour for a mage – but then, Catherine is an odd mage, living in disgrace in the old servants’ quarters of her grandmother’s house, responsible for cooking and housework. Lila owes Catherine her freedom; is there a way to help Catherine achieve her own, and at what price? Tension is building between traditionally-minded mages and those advocating change, and something has to break. *** Yin-Yang includes a small amount of profanity and no graphic sex or on-screen physical violence. However, sex and gender roles and relationships within the mage/sensitive subculture are non-traditional in mainstream North American terms. The key criterion in a primary relationship is not relative sex or gender, but the pairing of mage and sensitive; given the transformation of sensitives by their mages, physical sex is non-absolute for a sensitive, and gender identity can vary as in anyone else. *** *** The way mages treat sensitives is extremely varied and, in some cases is outright abusive. The struggle against that is pretty much the point of the book. It is NOT grimdark or misery-porn! However, if you will be triggered by this, please, don't read Yin-Yang! *** Complete stand-alone novel, 153K words! Also available on Scribble Hub and as a free ebook.
8 151A Canopy of Stars
Arden, planet of a billion souls, has been destroyed. A solar body, known only as The Dark Star collided with the world, shattering it. Through the actions of ancient heroes, and the sacrifice of the Gods, life found a way. Floating through the black sea of space, orbiting the destructive beauty of The Dark Star is Shatter, a coalition of continental rocks, surviving as best they can. Through magic and technological advancements, the fractured remnants of the planet have been made halfway habitable. In addition to shattering the prime material plane of Arden, The Dark Star’s destructive force also fractured the planar system, collapsing ancient barriers and forcing the wild elemental and chaotic magics of the planes into conjunction. The Kingfisher, helmed by the enigmatic and powerful Captain Thunder and her miscreant crew, do odd jobs to survive, operating outside of the law. One such job takes them to the shard of Evergreen, a fragment of planet covered in brilliant forests and the capricious and deadly faerie folk who call them home. Unfortunately, while the job seems simple enough from the outside, it quickly embroils the crew of the Kingfisher in a dangerous storm. Can Thunder and her crew keep to the sidelines when war is brewing around them?

What happens when the most powerful man in the world loses his soulmate to a heart attack? What happens when an innocent woman is dragged into a world of magic, and superheroes? Who is the true hero of the story? Note: This is the first book I ever wrote seriously. (I even had a cover made before I decided against publishing it) I'd like to think my writing style has improved with practice, and the multiple other books I've worked on. It felt wrong to leave a nearly completed book gathering dust in my google docs, but I don't think it's good enough to be officially published. As a result, I'm putting it here instead where it at least won't be totally wasted. Eventually, I'll put in the last 10 hours or so to finish it for you guys. Hope you like it :)

8 146The Little Things...
Set in the fictional universe of Runeterra (League of Legends™), the story follows four stout spirits known amidst circles of sorcerers and sages as Yordles on their journey across the vast and fantastical world they inhabit. From the treacherous waves outside Bilgewater to the parched deserts of Shurima and the peaks of Mount Targon. The party at first seeks monetary gain in the acquisition of noteworthy artifacts desired by their employer and fellow explorer, but soon finds that there is more to be gained in the relationship forged along the way and the experiences found within them. This series is more a conglomerate of short stories than a fully fledged novel with every two or three chapters being confined to its own miniaturized arc before another one starts. There will be updates semi-regularly and apologies in advance for any niggling grammatical errors, I'm not a published author. (This on-going series features a number of characters belonging to myself and others, half of which are talented artists who deserve your support!
