《Observing Death》Overseer

Life is too fragile, the smallest of happenings can threaten to kill you. Free will is a double edged sword, you're free to do whatever you want. Steal, force yourself onto someone, setting fires, pressure another into submission, kill a person, you could even choose to end yourself.

I envy how people wield the power to live their lives as they see fit, the power to change anything, even fate itself. Yet, they do not understand how precious they are, the ability to go against what was set in stone. A power wasted.

I want that, if they will just waste a great gift like that then they might as well just perish.

I am an observer, a passerby, a member of the audience, I never knew how I came to be all I remember was the cold wind brushing against my face as I fell into the water. Next thing I knew I was kneeling right at the center of a storm, I was stuck there confused.

I struggled to think of anything that could explain all these events, but I couldn't form any logical thoughts as I was dragged into whatever place that laid hidden within the darkness.

By the time I woke up, I was in an enclosed space, I kept looking around trying to find anything that could help me understand my circumstances.

It brought me great unease as I found that I couldn't move my head let alone my eyes, I was forced to watch the ceiling as lights kept on repeating the same pattern of movement.

I resisted with all my might attempting to break free from this state of petrification, yet to no avail I could not do anything. I watched in helplessness as I felt my eyes slowly close, my vision getting smaller and smaller until all I saw was darkness once again.

When I came to, I was in a brightly lit place. I could feel the grass tickling my fingers, the wind blowing gently onto my skin. For a moment, I truly felt peace I felt that I had time to reorient myself. My eyes were a bit blurry as I stared at a girl inside a picture frame.

My head faced forward, I witnessed the sun setting. The bright orange glow was the beacon of hope that purified me of all thoughts. I didn't know who or what I am, what purpose I served, and why I was chosen.

I thought about it as I stared at the star, I don't know what I'm supposed to do and I couldn't move on my own volition.

All that I have are my thoughts, yes that's right, I have control over my thoughts. I wasn't a puppet, I was free in some way.

Nevertheless, there wasn't a lot that I could do except observe as these events kept on happening. I've grown to accept the fact that I am just an observer, a narrator perhaps or something along those line, I have no power, I cannot interfere in these events.

All I could do was watch, just like watching a movie but I get front row seats. I've come to understand that I was experiencing life, or maybe death whichever one it is, I have no control over them.

My time at the fourth life gave me all the time I needed to sort my thoughts and determine my next course of action, which was to just observe and maybe learn from these lives.

I realized by now that I was living the life of different people, or maybe one? I still don't know, but I knew that I was living the life of someone. Every life so far ended quite abruptly, I wasn't able to comprehend my situation until the fourth life which luckily gave me enough time to reflect.

I waited for my next life to start and watched as the sun sets, the lights started to fade, I felt myself being pulled from my body and I was once again in a world of darkness.
