The little survives injustices Part 5
I walked in the old woman’s house, and upon entering the shabby house, littered with strange looking items, a bed, and a shelf full of plants, she said, ‘Well, deal is sealed I guess.’
‘Deal?’
‘Dragon, are you that stupid? It was 30 seconds ago I said and I quote “you tell me you’re name, I’ll tell you mine, and give me some life force and I’ll explain it to you!” Please, don’t make me lose faith in the legendary tales of dragons.’
Ok, I’ll acknowledge that it’s kinda stupid of me to forget.
The woman floats Aegle down to the bed next to the tray of strange tools.
‘Let me settle your friend first, then I’ll explain.’
***********************************************
Many ‘hours’ had past (this woman also was good at explaining things like Aegle.), the woman said, ‘once your friend is stabilized, I’ll explain, and complete our deal. For now, stay in a corner or leave, just don’t bother me.’
I sat in a corner, waiting for Aegle to be healed. The woman said she was a ‘doctor,’ so she’ll be ok?
The woman sweated over Aegles body, only looking away to wipe that sweat and breath. The tools were moved from the table to her body in a flash, jars of plants flung through the air, and blood spewed.
But the air? It wasn’t filled with the flying jars, the spewing blood didn’t taint the air red, not even the efforts of the ‘doctor’ filled the room with a sweet silence.
Screams. Aegle’s. Her screams filled the room, bouncing off the walls. The screams bounced, pulling the walls back with them. They collapsed. Her screams they pull at my mind with the walls.
A scream of pure power collected in my throat. In a fit of rage I rammed into a door, not even bothering to tell the doctor, and ran. Before I exploded.

I ran, and ran, collecting the same voices as before. As that day. I ran out the gate, planning to come back, but not until the screams where gone.
As soon as I got out of the village, my will exploded, my mouth was blasted open, and a furious blast of fire, as big as the village itself came out, incinerating any in its path.
As my rage subdued, being easier to dissipate than I had expected, I laid down at the gate, using my newly found instincts to assure my nice nap.
*************************************************
The humans, having seen me sleep next to the gate, had called, or really just yelled violently, accomplishing nothing, for the Archmages.
They specifically called for a man named ‘Ale’.
Maybe he is one of the fire men? The ones with pleading fists?
The streets where filled, full of people dashing around and failing.
Full of people in robes, carrying staffs, swords, and full of curiosity. Old men, women, and children all occupied the robed men and unrobed people.
Why they ran inside, while I was outside, I have no idea, but the ‘humans’ and ‘archmages’ are bound to be a little stupid right?
Suddenly, a man started parting the crowd, they went silent, stopped failing, and bowed. They ran to the edges of the street, allowing for the man to wave his hands and walk peacefully.
The man continued walking, stroking his long, thin grey beard. He wore a robe, to his ankles, painted red with fire. His head was bald, shining magnificently in the sun. An embodiment of the fire-y passion of the archmages.
I stood with my guard up, almost the same crouching position I had every time I felt endangered.
He continued walking, smiling meekly, walking confidently.
His steps were small, his hands held together, behind his back, a smile of certainty.

This man… made me feel uneasy, every instinct in my body made me distrust him, either for what he stood for or what he is.
This man surely isn’t as kind as he looks, and he surely isn’t as honest as he hopes to come off. Because eventually, no matter how hand picked, a leader will descend into greed and fore go his people.
It’s simply the cycle. As with any other cycle, you must start again.
The man finally made it to me, and he squatted, looking even more imposing in the process.
‘Hello, little dragon.’ His smile crept higher.
‘Did you not know it’s dangerous for little dragons to be in a human village?’ His smile reached his eyes.
‘Your skin will be cut off and sold if you aren’t a good boy and run along.’ His smile was villainous. Showing his true colors weather purposefully or not.
He muttered something aloud, but I couldn’t understand.
**********************************************
I had run into the woods, pretending to leave. But I soon returned, grabbing and clawing at the walls to climb up, flapping my wings instinctually every once in a while.
I got up atop the thick walls, and jumped off on the other side on top of a roof not far from the wall.
It took a long while of wandering, but eventually I found the old ladies shack, secluded in the center of a maze section.
I hopped off the roof of the house next to it, which looked almost identical, and went in.
The woman was sweating the same as before, but now she looked worse, worn down, and she looked nervous.
Her pace was clumsier, her moves sluggish, and she was jittering.
The old doctor hurried to look at me, and then turned away even quicker.
She whispered quietly (which I didn’t think was possible since she’s mentally transmitting all these things.)
‘Get out, this is a lot worse than I though, I’ll have to perform an advanced surgery.’
