《Arcane Evolution》World building

“Around 300 years ago when I still had a body, the world new me as Kronos the great god of chaos and time.”
“I was one among 6 other gods who ruled the world.”
“To the left of the map was the largest continent controlled by the ‘Holy’ Kingdom of Sol, their population is mostly comprised of humans and dime-humans. Whose royal family is appointed by their 4 gods.”
“Sol god of light/day, Bravery, and being a prick. His wife Luna goddess of darkness/night and strategy. Their son Mars god of strength and battle. And lastly but definitely not least my girlfriend Nova the beautiful goddess of order and space.”
“In the center you have the elvish republic obviously mostly populated by elves. They worship the goddess of earth and nature Gia.”
“to the top right is a large island chain controlled by the island federation of aqua, whose main population is merfolk. Their god is the douche bag Mercure god of the sea and storms.”
“Finally, there's my people. The peaceful kingdom of Hades home of the demons and greater monsters.”
I looked at Kronos and couldn’t help but think to myself. Really? the peaceful kingdom.
I mean it’s another world, demons and monsters don’t have to be evil. But for now, I just took this all with a grain of salt and continued listening.
“One day, Mercure's favorite son waged a great war uniting the island region of Aqua. But in doing so gaining a great ego even going so far, as naming himself Aqua Man.”
“In his hubris he wished for a mount worthy of his title. He came to my kingdom and tried taming one of my step-sons an elder dragon like a common hoarse.”
“Swiftly being killed for his actions his father grew furies. And by his power and sacrificing some of his follower's lives, created a massive never-ending storm around my kingdom that no mortal could ever escape.”
“I swiftly confronted Mercure in battle ordering him to stop the storm, but our power was equal so I rushed towards the holy kingdom to ask Nova for support. But it was a trap.”
“Sol saw this as a perfect opportunity to get me away from his daughter, permanently.”
“So, ambushed in the middle of the northern sea the three of us engaged in a great battle creating this island in the process.”
“But in the end, I was not strong enough. Knowing I would either be permanently killed or tortured for eternity. I detonated my body and most of my mana.”
“Injuring and distracting them long enough to hide my divine spark.”
“they believed me dead and left. But I had damaged my spark far more than I realized. Unable to reform my body I fell into a deep sleep until I was awakened by a wave of your arcane mana.”
“Foolishly assuming you were a normal unintelligent dungeon core I lured you. In hopes of taking over and building an army for revenge. Oh, plese forgive me for I was mistaken!”
“I don’t know, why shouldn’t I absorb you and see if I gain a ‘god’ blueprint?”
“Well, there... Theres no guaranty you would gain anything from killing me and if you spare my life, I can work for you, teach you all my knowledge and grant you my godly Blessing.”
The offer did sound very tempting but how would I make sheer he keeps his promise?
*Skill, create contract has been awarded for secret conditions: bargaining with a sentient race*
Advertisement
*Create Contract: create a magically binding contract between 2 or more sentient races. Negative effects for failing to follow contract conditions is based on mana affinity used in creation*
Well, isn't that good timing.
“I still yet unnamed dungeon core promise to treat you respectably, and try to the best of my abilities at least once to create you a new body. As long as you Kronos give me your absolute loyalty, servitude, knowledge, and blessing to the best of your ability. Do you accept.”
“I Kronos god of chaos and time accept this contract”
*True Blessing of Kronos: time needed in creatures' reproductive cycle greatly reduced. Chance of beneficial creature mutation greatly increased.”
Wow that is a very good blessing for a dungeon.
“Everything seems in order. Just don’t get any funny ideas. Now that you’re my subordinate you get to know that my pure arcane affinity was used in the making of that contract. While I may not know what it will do if you break it, I doubt even a god could survive.”
“Off course master, I never dreamt of it.”
“Don't call me master it makes me feel weird. Just call me Core or... Boss until I get a proper name.”
“now teach me how to create an elder dragon.”
“Hahaha... No.”
“What do you mean no! You have to teach me what I want to know.”
“No, I have to teach you to the best of my ability. And no amount of teaching is going to let you create an elder dragon at your level, not even a dungeon core of your unique strength and intelligence. But if you want, I can teach you something simpler while you claim this cavern.”
“Fine... teach me how to create... golems. I'm sure they would be useful with all these new materials I'm about to get.”
“Yes, very good choice. They can be used in a variety of scenarios with a variety of strength. To create a golem first you...”
With my new dungeon core brain, it was very easy to listen, practice the lesson and claim the cavern at the same time.
*New materials gained: Mana steel, copper, mana copper, topaz, tin, magnetite, mana magnetite, Platinum, silicone, aluminum, tungsten, Mana tungsten, carbon, ruby, sapphire, jade, Nickle...*
The list just kept going on, including all naturally formed periodic elements and many kinds of crystals, gems, alloys, and a couple mana infused versions of said things.
“Kronos this is absolutely fantastic for me, but why is all this here?”
“Well, this island was drug up from the depths bringing a few along with it. And my storage ring shattered spreading many of my experiments and materials across the island. And finally, as I slept my chaos and time mana leaked into the surroundings straight up changing and time dilating some of the surrounding material.”
“Just be happy, some ancient dungeons would kill millions for a fraction of what you just gained.”
“I guess your right I should just be happy with my great fortune. Speaking of, if all of this is here why did no one mine it?”
“Probably because it’s a gods ‘Death’ site. Protected/hallowed ground especially by Novas followers. Plus were smack dab between 3 kingdoms, neutral territory.”
“Wait does that mean even when people find me, they won't be allowed to come in?”
“No, it should be fine. Dungeons are too precious of a resource; they have their own set of rules to follow.”
“You should hurry up on your 2nd floor by the way. We haven't really been discrete with our mana fluctuations. A team of adventurers should be sent to investigate what's causing it soon.”

That got me exited so I doubled down on my efforts.
*New creature blueprints: giant cave mushroom, slime, golem*
It's time to see what we can do with my new additions. Starting off with the mushroom. It was about the size of a dog, but the ‘True’ version was the size of a large tree and gave off a faint glow.
I gathered up all of the vares materials on the floor and walls and concentrated them on the celling. The mountains of leftovers were sealed away for future use.
I then covered the celling with elemental wisps to give off light and attack the greedy.
I then added pilers, walls, small rooms, and run-down outposts threw out the cavern and its branching paths. I also filled it up with the usual trees and plants and now giant mushrooms.
Thin I filled the floor up with my old trap designs except this time there set off with magic, curtesy of Kronos’s teaching.
And I added mana infused magnetite to the traps to magnetically suck in those wearing armor or steal their weapons.
And finally, what mobs to fill it with. The more forested areas I populated with creatures from the last floor. But for the more ruin areas I want golems.
To create a golem, you gather together the base material or materials that will compose the body and an appropriate ultra-mana rich material for its heart, like mana crystal.
Then you create the magic circle picturing what you want the golem to look like and do.
Kronos mentioned that some of the strongest mortal golems were created when all their affinities lined up. For instance, a golem created with fire mana crystal heart, fire affinity material body, and a powerful fire affinity mage to create the circle. The end product could often rival greater elementals.
Not wanting them too strong for the 2nd floor I started with a random mana crystal heart, normal stone body's and mana stone skin, activating the magic circle... I got a humanoid walking pile of rocks.
Well, my standards are higher than that so this time I use the same materials and overload the spell with arcane mana getting a ‘True’ golem.
It was less like a statue and more like someone turned to stone. The details were amazing, it even had finger prints. And beautiful gleaming eyes carved from gem stones.
There was only one problem. He had no clothes. Not really wanting to be the nudist dungeon I thought on their clothes problem and populated the ruins with a few different types.
The lowest and most common ones being stone flesh with mana stone skin and bones. Then mana stone flesh with steel skin and bones. After that is steel flesh one's with mana steel skin and bones, and 5 commanders made with mana steel flesh and tungsten skin and bones. And finally, the floors boss with tungsten flesh and mana tungsten skin and bones.
I paired their eye color up with their affinity and made the affinity, face, and gender random every time they respawn. And cense wisps can inhabit inanimate objects (which the golems technically are) they float down from the ceiling and inhabit their matching affinity golems.
Moving on to the slimes they seemed pretty harmless.
“Hey Kronos do slimes have any good evolutions?”
“No, they are genially considered pitiful creatures with no known evolutions, with a miner ability to change their shape and size. But on the bright side they mutate almost too easily. With my blessing it might be a challenge to keep a base slime.”
“Though I am intrigued what it would mean to be a ‘true’ slime.”
Well, no time to waste... I activated the spell and boosted it.
The slime that appeared was so... so average. It was exactly the same almost cute looking blob of gelatin. Well, except for the oddly familiar looking rock floating in its slime, wait was that a...
“This is amazing!” screamed Kronos
“Huh what is it?”
“Don't you see that is a mana core! While most monsters XP is stored in their bodies greatly strengthening them and eventually evolving. While most sentient races Store their XP in their mana core only strengthening the body slightly but greatly increasing their magic.”
“Does that mean that slimes are sentient?”
“No, but they might have the potential too. As this one's core level goes up its magic and intelligence probably will too.”
“Well how do they mutate then?”
“Usually by consuming coupious amounts of a certain material or magic affinity.”
“Well, here you go little slime. Have some diamonds.”
“you would have to feed it a chest full before anything...”
After a hand full of diamonds, the slime suddenly started to glow and came out slightly rigid and gleaming.
The blessing, the ‘True’ tittle, and being a slime must have added up creating an almost instantaneous mutation process.
“We'll let's see what you can do little guy.” I called over one of the golem commanders.
“punch the slime.” with such great force that it sounded like his fist was ripping through the air he punched at the slime.
Whin the speeding fist connected it created defining sound and kicked up a cloud of dirt. Once the dirt settled the slime looked almost unhurt while the golem commanders' fingers were broken.
“While that was a great punch it lacked fines. Could you impart some martial arts, magic and maybe even some tactics to their programing, Kronos?”
“I'll get right on it boss.”
“Now you little slime while you’re a great success again you’re a bit much to be all over the 2nd floor. Hmm, do you have any other talents to share with the class?”
The slime rolled over to the golem and began to spread his body mass across its body forming into a full set of diamond armor and growing out a diamond sword in the golems now repaired hand.
“Your smarter than we thought and you even solved my golem clothing problem.”
Sending the diamond slime to be worn by the boss I created mana tungsten slimes for the commander, then mana steel slimes, then steel slimes, then copper slimes for the stone golems for they can stay near the magnet traps, and finally a Kevlar like slime made from spider silk to wrap around all my different animals.
As I was working on dyeing the spider Kevlar slimes to match more with their respected animal, I received a notification.
*For learning about materials and creatures in and out by absorbing and creating a large amount of material blueprints both magic and mondain. Creating a golem plus creating a variety of both mutant and true creatures you have been awarded the skill Infusion*
*Infusion: infuse a creature with a small amount of all your known materials in where ever it may be necessary to improve their natural abilities*
That was awesome! The 2nd floor was basically done with the addition of the boss fight and next floor entrance being randomized to one of the 4 cardinal directions each time a group delved.
But before I infused any creature, I started experimenting with the materials I had. I created as many compounds, alloys, and atomic arraignments from science I could remember. In the process creating graphene, carbon nano tubes and graphite. The strongest material known to science.
Then I took all my materials and infused them with all the different mana affinities. The process took 3 days in total.
Deciding that the humans and other races will be here soon I decide my first infused creature should be my floor 1 boss. The process was a little costly but was amazing to watch.
Graphite claws, oxygenated blood, mithril veins, diamond eye lens, carbon nano tube fur, and more all infused with the proper mana affinity for their task. While it was only a small percentage of these materials infused into the wolf it made all the difference.
Vastly increasing both its body and magics strength and control. I infused a few more creatures and plants on the first floor as a sort of special encounter.
I then infused ½ the 2nd floor, but the effect on the golems was quite interesting, it partially aligning them more with their affinity but mainly making them look even more real especially on the inside.
The Armour slimes were also quite interesting being infused with materials suited for whatever armor or weapon their body was shaped as.
And the training from Kronos has been going splendidly. They actually look like trained solders and mages not just robots.
“OK Kronos lets go into training overdrive for both me and my creatures I want to be ready for when the adventures arrive. I even created a proper dungeon entrance.”
“Don't worry kid this will be one for the history books.”
Kronos: If they survive that is.
______________________________
My name is Lucky, but I've never felt like I was. Just the opposite really, my life has been just unfortunate event after another.
My parents abandoned me when I was a child in the city of Bastion, on the neutral island of Tartarus.
I was taught in the orphanage that the mad god Kronos was raising an evil army to take over the world. So, the great gods Mercure and Sole fought a great and holy battle at this very spot creating the island.
The battle over, they sealed away the mad gods' followers. But the goddess Nova seduced by the evil god's magic mourned hiss passing.
Using her great dominion over space she transported Mondain plants and animals from across the world to the island and declared it a sacred land that shall not be destroyed or face the wrath of a god.
That’s all well and good if it didn’t also screw me over. With no money I can't pay for a boat out of here.
As a pore, dirty, weak, orphan no one will hire me. I can't sell lumber or create a field to farm because that would damage the holy forest.
So, no way to get a job and no way to create my own slice of life I'm stuck here. The only reason I haven't starved yet is that your allowed to hunt 1 animal a day which I eat and sell the pelts for a few coppers.
Maybe I could have a better living if I was stronger but at the rate of maybe hunting 1 mondain animal a day I'll actually be Lucky if I reach E rank in my lifetime.
“Are you the ‘hunter’ Lucky”
Snaped out of my thoughts I turn to see one of the city's solders. Oh no what now.
“Yes sir!”
“Then follow me, the mayor wishes to see you.”
Oh no this is it isn't it? I'm going to be poot down like the useless dog I am.
I was sweating rocks as the solder slowly led me threw the city and into the government building just off the town square. As we climbed the stairs towards the mayor's office, I felt like I was going to pass out.
As we interred the office, I set my eyes upon her. She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.
I had seen elves before around the city but her beauty was almost blinding. She was tall and muscular but not overly so. She had black hair with a streak of silver that flowed down the side, and piercing ruby eyes. I guess the rumors about her being part vampire were true.
Not the only true rumor it seemed as my eye floated to the dual enchanted mithril swords mounted on the wall behind her. It's said that she used so be a legendary S ranked adventurer.
“What... what can I do for you... Madom.”
“I have herd you are quite familiar with the islands forest, is that right?”
“Yes, this isn't about me hunting is it!? I swear that I follow the law!”
“No, calm down lucky. We have detected mana fluctuations coming from deep in the woods. Some of my people believe it to be a new dungeon. I need you to lead a group of 4 F and 1E rank adventurers through the forest to its presumed location.”
“We have already gone through all legal and political hurdles we just need to check its where abouts. While the team's level is low it should be more than enough for a newly born dungeon with only access to mondain creatures.”
Truthfully, I stopped paying attention when she said dungeon. A dungeon! Ha-ha... finally this isn't only my ticket to freedom but also to strength! With this opportunity ill show everyone what I'm really made of.
Screw reaching F rank I'll be B rank and show the world what's for. Maybe I can be Lucky sometimes?

I'm Always Talking to Myself
My name is Zach. I’m a typical bland featureless protagonist type. The kind of guy who has purposefully few defining characteristics so that people can project whatever they want on me. Like Luke from Star Wars or what’s her name from Twilight. Most main characters are like me. Kind of flavorless blank slates because we all secretly doubt that we’re Harrison Ford, but pretty much anyone could be Mitt Romney. Yep. Yes indeed, I do spend basically my entire life running an internal dialog to no one. Usually I’m imagining that there are people listening. Like maybe philosophers from Ancient Greece, or researchers from another planet who act suspiciously like the characters from that Instagram comic with the aliens. Stupid Instagram comedians stealing my internal monologue and turning into a wildly successful enterprise which I would imagine has a vibrant merch dropshipping arm and hundreds of thousands of daily dopamine hits for loyal followers. I basically spend all of my time explaining random things to imaginary people (and aliens, and animals, and household items which have inexplicably gained sentience and frankly have some concerns about this whole existence thing). Honestly, it’s both highly entertaining to me, in that it makes me think about why we humans do all of the bizarre things that we do, but also horrifically exhausting and kind of makes you feel like you’re either, worst cast, losing your grip on reality, or best case, becoming Abed from Community. Anyway, I’m sure that I have some distinguishing characteristics, but, in the interest of hypnotic suggestion I’m choosing to omit them until I’m pretty sure that you have subconsciously come to identify with me, or until I feel like it. (By the way, in case I forgot to mention it, a higher power called Aww Thor or something told me to say that this is a slice-of-life comedy adventure and that it's set in a fantasy world with isekai and LitRPG elements.)
