Chapter 1
The heavens fell, and all beings died.
Kiara stared at the living nightmare in front of her eyes.
…
"AH!"
Kiara woke up full of sweat. Her body trembled, small hands grasping at empty air.
She still felt the pain of being burned. She couldn't forget.
Her last moments consisted of only being burned, only to heal again.
Repeat until repeat until repeat. Her mind died that way.
Only when she woke up did she regain her broken consciousness.
…
She stared at the contradictory room. Familiar yet unfamiliar.
She woke up to this room six times now. Same state, same time, same body.
Kiara was a Regressor.
She lived five lives. She experienced five deaths.
Now, she's experiencing the sixth one.
The first death, bled out.
The second death, beheaded.
The third death, sliced in half.
The fourth death, drowned.
The fifth and current death, burned.
Kiara remembered all of them clearly.
Was it the price of being regressed? She didn't know.
Everytime she closed her eyes, she always see and feel it like a movie on loop.
It was both a blessing and a curse. She didn't know which part was larger.
…
Kiara stopped her wandering mind.
After recovering her bearings, she stood up and scanned the room.
It was just a simple room, in two words.
In every Regression she experiences, she always forget majority of her memories, besides important ones.
That's why she always jot down her experiences on a notebook.
Kiara ignored the burning sensation and opened the drawer, taking out pen and paper.
She pulled the chair and sat down, writing her recent memories.
…
An hour later.
Kiara felt her mind float.
The less important memories started to disappear rapidly.
In just ten seconds, Kiara felt her previous personality being warped.

She ignored this, her hands getting faster, pulling more blank papers in the drawer.
Time passed.
…
Two hours passed.
Only major memories stabilized in her mind.
Kiara stared blankly at the stack of papers on her desk.
She looked at her small hands bruised and bleeding.
"This will take a week to recover."
Kiara muttered.
There was no point to writing anymore. She couldn't remember anything besides major things.
Even after so many Regressions, it never disappeared and stayed there like a tutorial.
"Well. It should be time."
Kiara stood up from the chair and laid back down on the bed.
She closed her eyes and relaxed.
Tick—Tock—Tick—Tock.
The pain crawled.
In less than a second, she was convulsing. More than a second, the sheets were ripped apart, blood splattered everywhere.
Her previous life's mental energy was too much for her current stature.
It was thousands of times of the current her.
It was like a bucket trying to contain the ocean, but the water can't go anywhere, so it forces itself into that small bucket, destroying it.
And that's why her consciousness was wiped out a second time.
…
Kiara woke up.
The moment her consciousness recovered, she felt the incoming pain again.
She gritted her teeth and let the ocean slam into her.
Blood splattered.
Kiara tasted blood.
Her nose was bleeding.
…
Kiara woke up for the third time.
…
Kiara woke up for the fifth time.
…
Kiara woke up for the tenth time.
…
Kiara woke up for the twentieth time.
…
Kiara woke up the hundredth time.
…
Kiara woke up.
All she saw was red.
Her chest was wet, and she felt her hand being held.
Sob sob.
"Kiara…"
She knew that voice.
Although Kiara experienced this two times already, she still felt daggers carving into her heart.
"…"
Kiara opened her mouth, but her throat was clogged by blood.
She coughed loudly, trying to clear the passage.
"Kiara! You're awake!"
A worried voice.
"..i—…am fine… Thi…s. is… Nothi…Ng.."
…
Kiara woke up.
She felt her body being carried.
Kiara sighed internally.
She knew where she was headed.
The sacred heart of forest elves.
Elvenheim.

Algier, average human and recent convict, has committed the gravest sin of all: demon slaying. His fate? To participate in the Culling, a battle-royale style tournament that’s televised live to the world, where all the worst criminals go to die. As with all tournaments, a prize is on the line. If Algier survives, he can have any wish granted by the Marquises, the new rulers of Earth following the demons’ invasion. However, there’s little hope for survival in a tournament designed to have demons do the work of the executioner, especially for a human. Demons are stronger, faster, wiser, and more talented than the average human, and, despite his crime, Algier is no demon hunter. Mentally defeated before the tournament even begins, Algier is torn between becoming another demon’s points and fighting on in his dead mother’s legacy. But should he choose to fight, there is one advantage that Algier has that can tip the odds in his favour: Demons don’t lie, but humans can. How to read this story Demons Don't Lie is written from the perspective of an unreliable (lying) narrator. There are many inconsistencies within the story which are placed there intentionally.
