《The Final Countdown》Day 364 (Pt 2): Crapbaskets

Alice continued to stare into the orb. "Maybe." She reached her hand out to grab the orb. She grasped the orb in her hands, feeling its power, and had a vision. Suddenly, a rainbow light flashed and Alice was gone.
John freaked out. "Where's Alice?! Where'd she go?!" He paced around the room, nervous, stressed, and worried. "If you die in your dreams, you die in real life! What if the same logic applies here? What if she died? What if we die? Oh man, if this doesn't kill us, her dad will! Oh man, oh man, oh man!"
Maria ignored him and ran over to where Alice was before she disappeared. looked into the orb. "She's in there!"
John looked into the orb and saw Alice. "Woah! Cool. Maria, look! The thing above it!" A string of memories stemmed from the top of the rainbow orb, but the memories were glowing too. "Must be the visions she's been having."
"And the ones she's about to have! Maybe they're in the orb, being written!" Maria confidently grabbed the orb and attempted to see it, but she got sucked in.
"Maria!" John tried to grab her before she went in, but he was too late to save her. Suddenly, a wave of freezing water crashed through the door and shoved him into the Orb and the golden pillar lifting it, knocking it over. Using his reflexes, he catches the orb with his foot and gets sucked in.
A guy dressed in all black with a black duffel bag over his shoulder lock picked the locked door and creepily pushed open the door, letting the door slowly open before entering. He swiftly analyzed the room and snuck in but not before noticing two girls and a guy lying on the floor with foil hats that connected to each other. They all looked about the age of 15 or 16. He scowled in confusion and disgust; however, he shook it off and remembered his mission.

He quietly chuckled to himself as he walked up to one of the girls, making sure that he didn't step on or knock into any of them. Once he got up to one of them, he proceeded to pull out a spherical object from his bag, checked and readied it, and put himself into a prime position for chucking it into her face. "Haha! Vengeance is mine!"
John was screaming as he was randomly teleported into the Orb with Maria and Alice and fell on top of them.
"Ow! John?! I thought that you were out there!" Maria questioned. She pushed him off of her and Alice and helped her up.
"Thanks." She nodded to Maria and dusted herself off. "And what's going on out there? There was some huge earthquake!"
"And an even huger tsunami in here too!" Maria exclaimed as she waved her arms out.
"Don't worry, I'm fine." John muttered sarcastically as he stood up, dusted himself off, crossed his arms, and rolled his eyes. "Thanks for asking."
Alice sighed, "Chillax, dude. You're fine. Anyways, what's going on out there?"
"No idea, but I think that Blake and your dad are home now."
"And judging by the mental earthquake and tsunami, he's on his stupid 'revenge spree' again."
Maria groaned and flailed her arms. "Ugh, not this thing again! Last time he dumped a bucket full of hot wings on me just because I at the last wing at the last potluck."
John was confounded and scratched his head. "That doesn't sound too bad."
She turned around, walked up to John, and shouted to him, "IT WAS ON PICTURE DAY! AND THERE WAS EXTRA SAUSE! THAT I'M ALLERGIC TOO!"
Alice winced. "Ouch." She turned around. "But right now we have more pressing matters at the moment."

The guy then proceeded to step on the foil hats and smashed it with his foot. He then quickly ran out of the room and slammed the door.
"Huh? What's that?" Alice looked around.
"What do you mean?" Maria looked around as well. "There's nothing around here."
"Yeah, Alice. Are you okay?" John walked over to her and put his hand on her shoulder and comforted her. "Everything's okay, okay? I mean, this entire trip was practically a huge waste of time, but-"
A huge tsunami came crashing down on them, swept them all off of their feet, and separated them from each other.
Blyke had decided to 'sneakily' reenter the room with a small cylinder-shaped object hidden in his hand. The door continuously swayed back and forth - loudly creaking every second -, his light-up-in-the-dark sneakers kept glowing and playing a loud yet catchy tune, and his unnecessarily loud wincing and cringing even made him wince and cringe.
When he left, the object in his hand was slightly smaller. He looked back at what he had done. At that moment, his chiseled face perfectly aligned with the window and the sun was just in the perfect angle. The air conditioning blew his hair in a way that made his hair sway slightly in the wind.
"Is this my chance? May I finally be redeemed for my unnameable actions?" He attempted to reminisce the last time he had done such a strange act of kindness. And for some reason, he couldn't. His smile had slowly and steadily transformed into a sad frown.
"Na! That only happens in crappy stories with crappy character development and crappy plot devices and a crappy author." He swiftly dismissed the warm, mushy, soft, and most importantly new, feelings he had felt in his heart. He looked back behind him, giving his choice one final thought. He had been on the fence for quite a while. He wanted to ask for advice for a while, but he didn't know how exactly to phrase it. He left the room, quietly closing the door behind him for some reason.
John and Maria woke up, gasping for air as they helped each other up. They were both at a loss of words for what they had both experienced. "What just happened?!" They yelled in unison. They began spitballing for a while when Maria almost tripped on Alice.
"Oh, I'm sorry Alice! I didn't notice you there. Hey, how come you haven't been pitching any ideas? If anything, you were the one who was being delusional." Maria helped her up before noticing.
"Uh, Maria? I don't think she's awake."
"What? Na. She's gotta be awake! I mean, we woke up, right? So why wouldn't she?" Maria looked at Alice and saw she was still asleep. "Crapbaskets."

Armored
600 years have passed since the fall of civilization. The earth went through massive changes and core beasts now reign supreme. All that still exists of mankind are ruins and a scattering of walled cities. Festering pits of the worst humanity has to offer, protected by "knights" clad in a mech-like technology called armor. Nobles rule over everyone, little more than warlords. The middle class wants to make a buck and become nobles. And the rats want to survive. But everyone wants a piece of the ancient technology lost to mankind hundreds of years ago. Find one piece and it could change your life forever. For better or worse. This is my second attempt at a story. I haven't been writing for more than 3 or 4 months all combined. I hope to improve as I go. This is first and foremost a learning experience for me.

It's Hard to be a Hero in a Parallel World
A hero is transported from the real world into a parallel world similar to the video game he's been obsessed with for the past few weeks. The problem is, this game is way too difficult, especially for a nerdy gamer boy to survive. He decides to leave the hero-duty to someone who is actually competent while he looks for a way home. He hopes his knowledge of the game will help him stay out of trouble. Unfortunately, as one would imagine, the normal events of a game would change drastically when the main character is nowhere to be found. Read as the unlikely hero gets into trouble with his new companions, while trying to survive life in this parallel world. This is an original story that takes inspiration from and pokes fun at many novels, video games, anime, and the stereotypes and tropes that appear in those media.
