《The Final Countdown》Day 365 (Pt 2): Coping With Death

"You saw the what?!" John and Maria exclaim at the same time.
"Do I have to repeat myself? I said I saw the end of the world."
At that moment, Blyke runs in, runs around the room, and gets literally kicked out of the room by John. "Silence that, Rascal!" Blyke runs into his room and keeps playing around with his toys. "Anyways, back to the topic, are you sure that that was what you saw? You are sure that there are no misinterpretations there? That maybe this was a dream?"
"No, I'm sure of it. I'm sure that I saw the world ending along with everyone's lives."
"If that's what you say." He shuts the door and locks it after hearing Blyke's creepy laughter. "So is there anyway to prevent it?"
"Not that I know of. We would have to destroy the moon."
"The moon?! That is what kills off all of humankind?! The moon?!" Maria yells confusedly. She looks at Alice as if she was crazy. Once she looks at Alice's dead eyes and right into her dead serious soul, Maria begins to believe Alice's words. "So the moon kills us. If we destroy it, that would cause the end of the world, but if we don't, that also destroys the world! This is a lose-lose situation, so why are we caring about it so much?"
John speaks up again after long thought. "It's not a lose-lose. There is a chance of a win. But the moon stays. We just need to make sure nothing different happens to the moon, and we're good, right Alice?"
"Yeah, I think so. I think that might actually work!" Alice gets back up. "We just have to get the manpower to do that though."

Maria joins back into the conversation after have a 'Eureka!' moment of her own. "Your dad, Alice! He's president, remember? We could try to convince him of the end of the world happening in 349 days!"
"He'd never believe us. Alice may be his daughter, but revealing this to anyone but ourselves is too much of a risk."
"Not if this is our only chance. Since I am the president's daughter, then I would have an impact on his career. We just need scientific proof, and we've got this in the bag."
"Yeah, scientifical, not psychic! He didn't see it himself, so he wouldn't know. Plus, if he did reveal it to the public, which he has to or else the other two branches of government and The Cabinet will evoke him of his presidential status!" John exclaims. "It just won't work, not the way that we're doing it. We have to think from a different perspective. Your father's perspective. If we can convince him and the majority of the government, then we've got this in the bag. But if we aren't careful, then the cat will come out of it and so will the trust of your father. We've gotta plan this right. Like a go/no-go zone. It must be exact. Or else, in your brother's words,..."
"Kablamo." They all started with a devastated look on their faces. This was the moment where they realize that there was nothing that they could do. They looked at each other simultaneously in shock and a dead look in their eyes. Alice began biting her fingernails, and Maria started to play with her hair "..." They continued to look back at each other until President Boris shook the door handle in confusion.
"Um, open up, please!"

John was the first to get out of the stage of depression when Alice followed, getting off of her bed, and Maria slowly walking over to the door last. "Yeah, sure." John opens the door and quickly changes his face from devastation to poppy and joyful; however, President Boris saw just a peek of John's face before the metaphorical mask on. "Come right in, sir."
Alice, still biting her fingernails, and Maria, still playing with her hair, move out of the way. President Boris, cocking an eyebrow with suspicion, takes a hint and puts two and two together. "What is going with you all? You seem so...depressed. Do you wanna go out and see a movie or go to the mall or something?" He checks his watch for the time.
Alice notices her bad habit and stops. Her face quickly changes along with Maria. "Nothing, Dad. We're fine. We were just...We were just..." Alice quickly yet quietly signals for one of her friends to come up with an excuse, yet President Boris notices and signals to stop with his hand.
"I know what's going on. You guys were thinking of a plan to do something." President Boris stared at each of them to see if they gave any facial clues. "So just tell me what you were talking about. It's as simple as that."
"Umm..." Alice, Maria, and John lead off in unison. "..." John starts whistling and slowly making his way out of Alice's room, but President Boris intercepts with an interjection.
"Nope. You're not going anywhere until this discussion is over."
Alice whispers, "More like an interrogation." It gets Maria and John to begin laughing.
"Okay, okay, not funny. Back to the matter at hand, what is wrong? Why were you guys so-"
Maria says something while nudging Alice's arm. "Well-behaved?" She chuckled when she uttered the words.
Maria and John keep laughing while Alice now begins to. President Boris, with an annoyed look on his face, increases his volume from talking to slight shouting. "Everyone, be quiet! Focus and stay on topic."
John makes a Smart Alec roast. "On the topic of what exactly?" Alice, Maria, and John now get on their hands and knees, crippled by their heavy laughter. They were no longer worried about their soon death. They are no longer worried about anything. At that moment, they forgot about everything. They were just laughing, existing, living in the moment. President Boris shook his head and decided to leave the room. This moment marked the beginning of the end.

This work has been dropped- because I am rewriting it. Look forward to the new and improved "A Broken World," now available HERE on Royal Road! Three thousand years ago, Demonic creatures invaded the world. Though their power seemed irresitable, a band of heroes managed to steal the knowledge of summoning rituals and worlds from them and created, "The Millenial Summoning." A powerful magic that would bring forth a being from another world with the power to change the world forever. The first being summoned became known as "The Speaker," and he brought the power of the Gods with him. Teaching prayers and invocations that blessed humanities legions and began to push back the demons, founding of the "The Church of the Spoken Word" rose to power and a stalemate was reached. Two thousand years ago, that stalemate was broken by the second casting of "The Millenial Summoning," and the arrival of "The First Sorceress," who taught humanity the basics of magic and enchanting. With the power of the Sorceress, the mages, and the priests the tide turned and the Demonic hordes began to be shoved back, signaling hopes of a golden age for mankind. One thousand years ago, the hopes of final victory and a new dawn for mankind were dashed by traitors who slew the participants of the ritual and took their places, using the ritual to bring forth a godlike being from the demons home world, "The Demon King," for no human knew his name, erased millenia of growth reducing humanity to barely a fragment of its former glory. Now the ritual is being cast again, and a new being is being summoned... In our world, after nearly two decades of studious work, Luke Jaeger is making his dream come true.
