《Weak 'Heroes'》Chapter 1: We're weak?

It was a usual Friday. I had to go to high school, I'm 15, so I'm still treat like a child despite having expectations of an adult.
I don't dislike this life, actually I love it. I'm liked in high school, everyone in my classes get along, nobody fights. Although I have the same class for every subject, I don't mind it. Eventually you learn their little quirks and are able to bond over topics like gaming and fantasy novels.
My closest friends consisted of: Liam and Evie.
Liam is beyond stupid. Although he's too good with his words. At the age of 16 he knows 6 languages fluently and still learning more. Completely insane. He has a slender frame with black hair - a standard looking 16 year old. Despite him being the eldest in this friendship group, he doesn't act like it in the slightest. He also has brown eyes, almost hazelnut coloured. His personality is quite overwhelming. He's loud, funny, and knows no boundaries.
Evie is pretty similar personality wise but she isn't stupid or thick. She's mediocore, like me! The only thing she's expectional at is Archery. She does it everyday and practises after school for an hour without fail. She has blonde hair and quite a petite frame. She's the same age as me, although is older by a few months, which you'd think doesn't matter that much but she brings it up constantly.
"Here!".
"Here Sir!".
I huffed into the lesson. "Sorry I'm late". I took a sigh and sat down.
"This is the second time in a row James, care to explain?". His Teacher was not impressed as this is becoming a daily occurence.
"Same thing! I woke up late aha". I laughed it off thinking it wasn't a big deal since it was only five minutes.
"What will you do when you're older? You're just going to be late to your job all the time? Good luck with that". Whenever James is late his Teacher always has a snide remark regarding his future.
Aren't Teachers supposed to be a positive influence? For some reason Mr. Smith hates teenagers yet decides to teach? Make it make sense. Of course, I don't have balls of steel so I can't exactly say anything to him or I will be sent to the Principal.

I scurried to my seat to be met with someones foot trying to trip me up.
I stared at Jackson.
"3 - 1; you're slacking". I winked at him whilst sitting down.
"God you're annoying, I'll keep doing it until you actually get on time". Despite Jacksons rough appearance he's kind hearted, he just can't express it properly.
"You say that like you're a perfect student. Shut up before you get shouted at. You do know the Principal has it out for you right?". The Principal had a lot of trouble with Jackson within the first year of high school. Because of that, she won't let him be, and refused to acknowledge his changes in his personality and the way he conducts himself.
It amazes me how some of these Teachers are employed. Not only are they dull but they refuse to let children change their attitudes, it's honestly suffocating.
It was a normal day in English. Reading through a book then answering exam questions on them. Nothing really changes, except time froze for everyone except my classmates. We weren't able to properly look at our surroundings since after a minute purple circles with inscriptions on them were under our feet.
We were met with a fat man on the throne surrounded by people in suits of all kinds, except one person. The dark haired woman had a priest outfit on. The atmosphere was suffocating, I couldn't even process this all without someone collapsing in my line of sight.
It was Sam. I don't really have an opinion of her, she's kind and exceptionally smart. She was our student council who represented our class, because of this she was quite outspoken.
"Welcome Heroes! We have sent you here with the expectations of you killing The Demon King! I know you must all be shocked, however it is in your best interest for everyone to comply. We are not the enemy. Infact, we are willing to help nurture your abilities so that you can be the best you can be!".
In conclusion: I've been transferred into a Fantasy Novel? How fucking great.
The King coughed then carried on. "I know you're all shocked, but please put your hand the Status Stone so we can measure everyones aptitude! We heard foreign countries have done this in the past and they were given exceptional results. We hope you're the same".

For some reason the King has expectations of us despite not knowing any of us personally, does he know we were all lumped into the same class because we're not the smartest bunch? Sam only got in our class because she was bored of the obnoxious people looking down on us for being inept.
Everyone had no choice to comply so we all agreed to do it.
"Just do it. It doesn't look dangerous so stop being an idiot for once please". James turned towards Jackson as he was ready to punch the priest infront of us.
Jackson narrowed his eyes and agreed.
"It's pretty known that you're a fantasy geek so I'll trust you".
Chop
"Just shut up for once". I whacked him over the head with my fist. I don't enjoy doing it but he's got to learn right?
Everyone in the class put their hands on the Status Stone. Despite it feeling very laid back the atmosphere was crushing. I'm assuming these nobles are riding on us.

The Priest took a look at everyones status. She squinted at the stones infront of her and showed the King.
"?"
The King stared for a few minutes. It was literal silence for 3 minutes.
Suddenly, the King starts foaming at the mouth and has a seizure.
The Priest suddenly shouted:
"Regeneration!".
The King suddenly faced everyone.
"Every single one of you are worthless scum. You would all literally get beaten up by a Villager. Fuck off!".
It seems that everyone is weak, not only me.
I'm in a fantasy world expected to kill a Demon King in 11 years, except everyone is disgustingly weak? What in the fuck this isn't how novels are supposed to go! GET ME OUT!
We were all shoved into a room by the Priest, but honestly she was quite nice.
"Don't worry about it! We've already decided to keep you all here for a year despite your abilities. So work hard from now on! We still need your help to slay the Demon King!". She smiled then went back into the room full of shouting.
I don't think we understand the extent of the sacrifices they made to get us here.
Jackson and Liam couldn't help but laugh.
"The fat man literally had a seizure because he was that irritated". Jackson stated before going into a fit of a laugh.
Everyone else. including me couldn't help but feel weird. We all conversed about our stats and we came to conclusion that we all suck. Nobody had above a 10 in a singular stat. The most someone had was a 6 and that was in Endurance from Lee. Which honestly isn't shocking he's built like a fucking rock.
However, what was interesting is that we were all level 1. Literally none of us were level 2.
I was a Mage Apprentice, Liam was a Orator which apparently means that he uses magic through is voice, which sounds too complex for me to understand properly. Unsurprisingly Evie was an Archer Assistant. Jackson ended up being an Fletchling Assassin which was quite worrisome due to his personality. Other classes were Beginner Priest and Tanks, Newcomer Swordsman and other things like that referring to their weapon like a Spearsman. To be honest there wasn't much diversity, if anything their was much more physical classes than magic classes which made me feel quite special.
The room we were shoved in had 32 beds, which was literally the exact amount of us here.
I guess we're going to struggle from now on.

The Fire Within Can Be Scary
In a fantasy world similar to ours, magic worked similarly to physics, with each elemental spirit magic being tied to a state of matter. Earth is solid.Water is liquidAir is gas.Fire is plasma. Four elements, four states of matter. However in the ancient world of Hitarea, "Plasma" hadn't been discovered yet. The people of this world believe that only three states of matter existed, and thus, only three elemental magic could exist. For years, Earth, Water, and Air stood alone as the three main elements from which all others originated. Advanced arts like metal from earth, or Ice from water were only extensions of their original element . . . so what does that make Fire? Fire is powerful as the earth with its mighty explosions, flexible like water as it writhes around in the air, and swift like the wind. All at the same time. Fire, in regards to combat, is the most powerful element by far. This fearsome power is Alden's to master, but this power is a double-edged sword. One shouldn't play around with fire if you don't want to be burned. The fire within can be scary, you know?
