《Toothbrush Fighter》Chapter 1: Bad Morning
Advertisement
I know that each of us has different experiences in the morning. For me, it's one of the worst parts of the day. It's incredibly hard for me to get out of bed, and it takes me a long time for my brain to start working properly. A cup of coffee would probably help, but as one of the few, I don't drink it.
I have to say that the coffee smells nice, but it tastes much worse.
This is exactly what it was like this morning. I managed to get up and get to the bathroom. After doing my morning business in there, I moved to the kitchen and had a light breakfast. While still in my pajamas, I moved back to the bathroom and began to brush my teeth.
At one point I was looking in the mirror at my sleepy face and bed hair, and then at the face of a huge bear.
As I said, my brain doesn't work very well in the morning, so it took me a while to figure out what was going on. Therefore, even after the animal appeared in front of me, I continued to brush my teeth. In my defense, the bear must have been as confused as I was, because he was staring at me as stupidly as I was at him.
Apparently, he also couldn't believe that a human in pajamas suddenly appeared in front of him and was brushing his teeth as if it was a normal occurrence.
Eventually, my brain cells began to work and began to perceive what was in front of me. At that moment, it occurred to me for the first time that there was a bear in my bathroom. Fucking bear! Of course, my first reaction was to start screaming.
"Aa… chrr… .."
However, if one wants to scream, one must first take a deep breath. I did, and then I began to choke on the toothpaste foam I had in my mouth. My cough woke the bear from his trance. I took a lot of the foam into my lungs and the animal definitely wasn't going to wait until I got out of my coughing fit.
"Grrrrrrr… .." the growl was my last warning before his attack.
I knew it, so I hightail it and flew out of the bathroom like a ball of lightning. Eh? Where am I? This is not my bathroom. My bathroom is tiny, it can barely fit a toilet, shower, and sink. It definitely, has no trees and bushes in it.
But I didn't have time to dwell on where my bathroom had disappeared to and why I was in the middle of the freaking forest. I needed to run away from the fucking bear, but how?
Be faster than him? But I'm barefoot and literally wearing only two pieces of clothing.
All I could think of was climbing a tree, I could mage it. I looked around quickly and looked for a leaf tree with branches relatively low that I could easily reach. I headed for it as fast as I could. Ignoring the sharp pain on my feet I focused only on my goal. My only hope.
It was not enough.
In a few seconds, something hit me from behind on my back. I rose into the air, literally flew a few meters through the air, and stopped at a tree trunk, which I slammed into with my left shoulder.
"Aaaaaa… .." I shouted in pain.
This time, the foam from the paste did not prevent me from expressing my emotions. But did my brain have a problem processing information again? What happened? Did the car hit me? But where would a car come from in the middle of the forest? Not that a car had ever hit me before. I didn't know how such a person felt, but right now I could feel every bone in my body.

"Grrrrrr…." A bear, of course. Not a car, but a fucking huge bear.
I looked ahead and though my watery eyes witch were clouded by pain. I saw the huge beast rushing at me. I wanted to get back to my feet, I wanted to run, but my body didn't listen to me. All I could do was get up from the ground and sit in front of the tree I had hit. At that moment, the bear crashed into me again and pinned me against a tree.
Not a sound came out of me this time. All the air came out of my lungs. I felt my bones in my chest crack. It is a terrible sound. To my surprise, however, I no longer felt the pain that should accompany such an injury. I was really relieved.
I probably lost consciousness for a moment, because when I opened my eyes again, the beast's jaw was bitten in my left arm. The bear was shaking furiously with me from side to side. It was probably trying to rip off my arm.
At that moment, I realized that I was still holding my toothbrush in my right hand. For some reason, in all that time I didn't let it go.
I gathered all the strength left in me and stabbed the beast in the eye.
I had no idea that bears could whine like dogs, but at that moment it sounded very similar to me. He immediately released my hand and I fell to the ground. I didn't have the strength to move at all, nor did I know if my body will ever be able to do that.
I heard a bear moaning nearby, but I didn't care. Dusk began to fall on the world around me, and I was extremely tired. I closed my eyes and the only thing that came to my mind before I drift off to the realm of dreams was:
This is the worst morning ever.
***
Like every morning, I struggled to roll over.
"Just a moment," I muttered to myself.
I lived alone in a small apartment, so there was no one to pull me out of bed despite my protests. In the end, however, I always get up. Work will not wait for anyone.
Wait, work? What was I doing at work yesterday? Eh? I don't remember, but…
I got up and…
I ran away from the bear…
But that's not the job.
At that moment, I sit up.
"Auu." I groaned. I felt pain in my left arm. I looked at it immediately, but it was fine. At least from what I was able to say through my shirt. However, when I touched my arm, the pain came again. What happened to me?
I looked at the place where I was sleeping and the cause was immediately clear to me.
"This stupid stone," I picked up that asshole on which I had apparently slept the whole time, and with all my might and retaliation in my mind, I threw it into the nearby bushes.
"Eh…" wait, the bear? He attacked me, I thought I was dying?
I immediately started examining my body. I took off my shirt, but from what I could see without a mirror, everything was in place. No abrasions or bruises. My legs were the same. I was perfectly fine.
I was sure I was missing something, but what?
The Bear!
I got up quickly and looked around, but I was relieved. It wasn't here.
"What the hell happened to me?" I growled. I did not expect an answer to my question. As well as a sudden gust of wind that threw leaves in my face and reminded me that I was standing in the middle of the forest with a shirt in my hand and pants at my ankles.

I almost screamed like a little girl, but for some reason, my brain stopped me. The bear could still be around. I put on my pajamas as fast as never before.
What now? I need to find a safe place to think.
My eyes fell on the tree that was my goal yesterday. Was it yesterday? or this morning? How long I was unconscious?
It didn't matter.
Carefully, I began to sneak up to the leaf tree. But it was hell. My idea of sneaking was completely different from reality. The main reason was my bare feet. Although I tried to avoid all the twigs and stones. I didn't quite succeed in it. Many of them were hidden under leaves and pine needles. And together with the needles, they cut into my feet. So my sneaking wasn't as inconspicuous as I imagined.
"Tsss… .auu… .aaa… .. damn…." I couldn't help but say a silent curse.
However, in the end, I reached my destination safely. It was quite easy for me to climb the branches up, where I sat on a branch at a height of five meters. I could have climbed higher, but right now I had no reason to. But in case of danger, I could get up quickly, you know. That was important.
I founded a comfortable position on a branch and leaned my back against the trunk of a tree.
"Okay, Kirra, what exactly happened?" I didn't have time to panic. There had to be a logical explanation.
I got up, had breakfast, brushed my teeth, and then I stood in front of the bear? That has no logic! If someone kidnapped me, they would have to drug me, drag me to the forest, and…. fuck me, it doesn't make sense. Maybe this is a dream. An extremely vivid dream. I didn't even have to pinch myself to wake up. I knew this was not a dream. I experienced more than enough pain today.
Maybe aliens? Secret government organization? Experiment on a remote island? Fight for survival?
The thought sent a chill down my spine. I didn't want to fight other people! Would they be just in their pajamas too?
Ok, then there are other options. I have read countless novels about heroes in other worlds. There were several ways to get into it. The most common cause was the legendary Truck-san. A truck that always appears at the beginning of a story and "accidentally" kills the protagonist. His role is very important. I'm sure many people wanted to meet this heavenly messenger, but it didn't happen to me.
I was in my bathroom.
If he didn't go through the wall on the second floor, of my apartment? I don't think so.
What followed was the main character's encounter with a god or goddess in a white room. Nothing like that happened to me. There was no god, no white room in my memories. I would say I can write off this option.
Another common way was to summoning the hero into the world by a princess, sometimes a royal mage. Magic circles appeared under the hero in the real world and he was summoned to another world. He would appear there before the king,… well we can write off this too.
No circles appeared in my bathroom, I think. I have to admit, maybe I just didn't notice them. However, I definitely did not show up at the palace and in front of me didn't stand a princess or a king, but a huge bear.
They could have botched the summoning, and instead of the palace I appeared here in the woods, or the bear summoned me. Bud why? To by his dinner? improbable.
I can write off reincarnation right away. I'm not a baby and this is my body.
Hmm, what's next? Random relocation? Maybe?
"Oh..." I growled in frustration as I grabbed my hair.
Is this a different world at all? It's quite possible that I'm still on the Earth, just in the woods. It looks like Earth. Trees, bushes, rocks, leaves, bear though bigger than they look on TV.
"Hmm… two suns," I muttered. Two suns could be seen through the treetops. One larger and the other smaller. I averted my eyes before they could burn holes in my retina.
Fascinating. However, it excludes the Earth.
If I'm in another world is there a good chance there's something like a status screen? However, I did not want to start saying out loud possibilities that could evoke my status screen. I found it embarrassing. Like heroes who always had to call the names of their abilities when they wanted to use them. Very embarrassing and stupid.
Nothing worked. Words like status, ID, list…
"Okay, Kirra. You can do it !!" I encourage myself.
But that did the trick. My name. A list formed in front of me.
Name: Kirra Gotobed
Gender: Female
Age: 29
Class: Toothbrush Fighter lv 5
Health: 84/84
Stamina: 65/65
Mana: 87/87
Status:
Vitality: 8
Strength: 4
Endurance: 6
Dexterity: 5
Intelligence 8
Wisdom: 7
I don't know how long I stared at the blue box in front of me. It's one thing to read about this mythical thing in the novels, or to see it in comics, anime, or games. Now the real thing was in front of me. Transparent blue window with my status. It wasn't amazing, I know, but it was mine. My blue box.
I quickly wiped away a tear. Fortunately, I was here alone and no one saw it.
This confirmed to me that this is a different world, but I also ran out of other possibilities. Oh. Maybe, virtual reality? But nowhere did I read that technology was so far ahead. Secret research? Beta test on abducted people, because it's dangerous?
"Log out?" I tried out loud. Embarrassing. But nothing happened.
I opened the status screen again and looked at the beauty. I know I missed a lot of things here, I was confused and scared, but only now I realized that I had no problem reading my status. In fact, I have no problem focusing on the world around me. You know, I wear glasses on Earth. Over three diopters on each eye. I can't read practically anything without glasses. Yet now the world was as sharp as ever.
Beggars can't be choosers. Right?
I see. You laugh at my name. Gotobed. I didn't choose it. I know, it's quite ironic. Considering my morning battles with my bed. Especially on weekends. I lose them regularly. Of course, with honor. The bed is my legendary enemy, my nemesis! My love.
"Hmm, 5. lv 5. Shouldn't I start at level 1?" I muttered. Wait, what if I gained some experience in fighting with the bear? If you can call that fight. Is there a battle log or something?
Yes, it is.

(ding) Bearer of Legends has reached level 5. Stat point awarded.
Oh? Did I kill it? With toothbrush? Actually, where is it? To my surprise, I still held it in my right hand. Strange? I don't remember having it when I climbed this tree I am sitting on. Is it a magic toothbrush? Something like the sword Harry Potter had and it would appear in my hand when I needed it? I fixed my eyes on it.
[Toothbrush - Legendary quality]
A blue sign appeared above my green toothbrush. I almost let it go when that happened. Ok, so even in this world, it was a toothbrush.
"But why the hell is it's quality legendary" I cursed.
Oh. Maybe because it's made on Earth. Made out of quality plastic, material that is not available here, and by machines. That makes sense. Sort of. I shrugged.
(ding) Congratulations! You have learned the general skill [Identify]
"My first skill, hooray," I rejoiced. Quietly. However, when I wanted to find out more about my new skill, I was a little disappointed.
[Identify lv 1 - general skil]
Well, it was a skill, and that meant one thing. I could get another here. My mood suddenly improved. I looked around. What could I use [Identify] on? To my anger, I was on a tree and there was nothing but it.
[Darksun oak]
At this point, I would like to be on my feet, running through the woods, and identifying my surroundings. But now I only had to make do with this oak.
Wait!!!
[Pajama pants - Legendary quality]
[Pajama shirt - Legendary quality]
Well, the same explanation as for a toothbrush. Very well made clothing. But when I think about it, it's weird that it's not torn. Bear crashed into me twice and bit into my left hand. Not even a rip in it, or tiny hole.
I checked my clothes thoroughly. Reall quality. I should thank the manufacturer when I get back home.
However, thanks to my valiant battle, I am now at level 5. But is it a lot or little? Often, especially in games, a level cup is at level 100. Which would mean I'm at a good start. On the other hand, there are often no limits in novels and level 100 is only the first step. Levels of monsters go into the thousands. Which would mean I'm fuck up. I shouldn't jump to conclusions until I meet other people.
If there are other people. At least something humanoid. Please?
The question is also, where can I find them? In the village, the city, but where can I find those? Oh, I could climb to the top of this tree and look around. Sounds like a plan. A good plan.
Or rather start of one.
I wanted to stand up on a branch but realized that I still had a toothbrush in my hand and had nowhere to put it.
"I'm definitely not going to put you in mouth anymore," I told the toothbrush. When I imagined that the head of the toothbrush was stuck deep in the bear's head, I felt sick to my stomach. Fortunately, it seemed clean and nothing of the bear's bowels remained on it.
I tried to put it by the belt, but the rubber on my pants wasn't strong enough and the toothbrush fell into my pants. Luckily, the toothbrush got caught in my trouser leg and didn't fall out. On the second try, I put it behind my ear. The way engineers put pencils on construction sites. However, the toothbrush was too big to hold by my ear.
In the end, I had to use a more girly solution. I made a bun in my hair and used the toothbrush as a hairpin. I was surprised by the genius of my solution. I know. Don't blow your own trumpet! However, it was a solution that worked.
My hands were free so I could go up. Careful, of course, but it wasn't like I was climbing a tree for the first time. It's been a few years back, but it like riding a bike. It took me a while, but in the end, I peeked out over the treetops. Not that mine was the tallest in the whole forest, but the view from it was decent. And that it was a view.
On one side, beautiful huge mountains, whose peaks were covered with snow. They reminded me of the Alps, only bigger, much bigger. On the other side a forest, a forest, sometimes a meadow and then a forest. A lake could be seen in the distance, and that immediately became my goal. Water meant life. For better or worse. As far as I know, people built their cities by the rivers. By the water source. If the city is not by the lake, I will go along the river until I come across one.
I know that if I walk along the river, I will most likely come across other animals. Maybe even monsters, but what else could I stick to. What other direction could I go? I couldn't climb the mountains barefoot. I don't even know what was beyond their peaks. It could be more mountains.
I took one last look at the lake and made sure which direction to go. I must say that, fortunately, I was not one of the people with an orientation disability. I firmly believed that I would eventually reach the lake.
The suns were high in the sky, but it didn't tell me anything. I had no idea how long the day had been around here and how long the night had lasted. If there was a night at all. Thanks to the two suns, it could be like in the north. Polar day and so on…
I hope not. It would be very depressing.
A few minutes later, I settled on an already familiar branch five meters above the ground. It was time to come up with a plan. Hmm… should I go straight to the lake? I could walk a decent distance. The sooner I get to met other people, the better. Or I could take a better look around. Find that bear. His burrow.
Ach… .so many questions Kirra and no one here to answer them.

Updates Once a Week next update 10/5 Wracked with misfortune, a nameless village along the edge of the Gray Spine rejoiced at the arrival of a paladin. Why has she come to their village? Nayinis divulges her shadowed past, for she needs the village's trust to defeat the powerful foe that she has been summoned by the divine to face. What to expect: This is a slow-paced, dark, epic-fantasy book written mostly in an archaic first-person style, remniscent of fariy-tale at times. I am expecting the final product to be close to 600-700 pages. The first few chapters introduce a somewhat-steep learning curve of names and mythology of the world that plateaus at aroud chapter 5. Logical consciousness before birth ,however impossible with the udder lack of brain cells was quite the gift. One could see it as a curse, stuck alone in a dark and near silent womb for months with little need for rest. Phycological torture for those who couldn't grapple with the thought of such a miraculous time. After all if such awareness was available before the proper Brain matter was grown them how would one gain consciousness? Well there is only one simple and miraculous word to describe it. Magic. Whether it was a highly organized magic system, a chaotic mash of dark arts, or some divine intervention it could be considered to be magic non the less. And magic? Well one had plenty of time in the womb to discover and train it. And that was exactly what one would do if they found themselves in such a situation! Thanks to WifuLabs for the cover.
8 114Mindfulness
"Mindfulness? What do you mean Bradley?" I was speechless and I wasn't able to comprehend."You already know Stef, you can understand it by the way I look at you, I'm completely aware of what I feel, we have families and I have a daughter, but nothing will take me away from you. You are my Zweisamkeit, you know what I mean?" I looked at him, he was smiling and it was the best smile in the entire world. and I started to laugh. "I don't speak German Bradley, you know." "This word describes the self-imposed isolation of a couple in love. Their togetherness creates a kind of loneliness around the two of them. And you, you are the only one who makes me feel like this. I can't let you go and I have to tell you, I love you Stefani, more than the word can say, more than anything, I'm in love with you from the first day I met you at your home, you were smiling with your blonde hair messed up, and when you started to sing, I saw heaven. I use this world, Mindfulness because I'm aware of my feeling from the first time." He started to get closer to me and...
