《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 67 - Feuer

He put his hands behind him, and sparks began to fly out of his palms. In a matter of moments, his heels also began to spark and create a concentrated flame. All around the back of his body, flames began to appear; it reminded me of my old teacher, Miss Trancesite, even the look in their eyes were the same, if I had met Feuer somewhere else, I would've mistaken him for her son.
I had no time to react, as Feuer had crossed the entire distance of the colosseum, in less than a second, it was an eighth of the size of the whole city, so to traverse it in so little time, frightened me a little. Feuer tried to roundhouse kicked me, stopping at my left hip, and I narrowly escaped the most of the attack.
Appearing in midair, I began to flap my wings, looking at the wound. My hip had caved in due to the attack, halfway through my body. I had to be careful, as that was only half the attack, that was the strength to kill a man in one shot, good thing I was not just a man, but a demon as well.
I folded my wings, not tucking them into my body, and my entire self untouchable, all except the tip of a chain I summoned on my right hand. I fell into the earth, keeping an eye on Feuer's location by his soul, watching. Using the momentum from the descent, I flung myself back up, my chain going back inside me.
I hit the wall of the colosseum and jumped towards Feuer, something at my speed he could not see coming. It turns out I was right, he couldn't keep up, and I hit him with my cold fist. A massive bang was heard, and then my knuckles felt pain, I suddenly remembered what they did to him.

The picture of skeletons and skeletons, all belonging to one person, the reason why they removed Feuer's frame, was because they replaced it with something else instead. He looked at me, anger in his eyes, and I transferred my cold touch, making some of his skin cracks and fall off, revealing what was inside.
A copper skeleton was on Feuer's left cheek; it was inside his body as well, mechanical marvels which I couldn't put my head around. It excited me, and I clenched my fist even harder, some blood begging to drip from it. Looking at it, I decided to start something.
"ɔOɯɯAup¡ qloOp AuɔıEuʇ ʇɥE As ɯe' AɹOnup ɔl0np ɔlonps ʇɥə ɯaʎ uOʍ' It ɟEəl ɔau ʇɥEʎ ʇɥaʇ sO iʇ ɯAʞə ɹaıu' Oɹ ʇɹuʇɥ ʇɥE ʞuoʍ uEʌEɹ ʍIll ʍɥo ʇɥose ɟOɹ!"
A thunderbolt was heard, and I looked up, seeing one strike me. Clouds gathered around, and I was surrounded by lightning before a beam tried to hit Feuer, but unfortunately, he dodged the strike, but not the next attack from me.
Lightning struck me as well, and for a few moments, I was able to lay down a barrage made of hundreds of punches before creating a massive blast of steam. The heat of the lightning was dangerous to my body, despite my control over it, but with my ice-cold veins, it allows me to create steam if I use it too much.
That was the first time I used an attack like that, and it felt great. My body quickly turned back to where it chilled the air around me, and I looked at my markings. They were glowing through my blood suit, a snow-white, which I recognized as the colour of my lightning.
I smiled and focused onto my right hand, which was out; my fingers began to light up with sparks before another thunderclap was heard, as well as a lightning bolt which made direct contact with Feuer, transferring around his body.

A scream was heard from him, and I looked at him with delight, licking my fangs, fluttering my wings. I dared not to move, as he did not, and I stared into his eyes. Feuer made the first move, putting his right hand over his face, steam erupting from the mechanism from his arm, a single vial came out of his body which I could only recognize as energy crystals, but it was as a liquid form.
"A special component has also been developed by both party's, let's hope that Dyestral will use his sooner or later, after that fabulous light show!" The announcer exclaimed, getting an echo from the audience.
'He is an idiot, even with royal authority, that substance used in such a wasteful way' Even though I also absorbed some crystal, able to silently summon my chains, as well as just becoming more powerful overall.
I noticed that Feuer's arm began to pulse the same colour as the liquid he just showed me, seeing that a mechanism had already injected it into him. Right as all his veins glowed, I finally heard Feuer speak.
"Power break number one out of four, active for one hour," His voice sounded feminine, although he was male, an authoritative tone.
Feuer quickly pointed the same arm at me, his hand opened, revealing an orange circle which fired a beam of light which I narrowly dodged by using my tail as balance and going as low as I could go.
The beam then ended, and I looked towards the sky, seeing Feuer quickly falling onto me. Seeing this, I panicked and moved through the ground again, although it wasn't enough, as another blast reached me through the field and burnt my abdomen. Panicking I transported myself into the soul world and appeared behind Feuer, reappearing and wrapping one of my chains around his throat, choking him while throwing him in the air, flying after him.
The power he showed, it rivalled mine, which made me excited. As we locked eyes again, the air around us began to fill with bloodlust and changing the temperature, his becoming hot and mine cold. A smile on my face appeared as I became even more glad and excited.
Polar opposites, that's what we were, one of us would perish, since we were star crossed enemies, and one thing was for sure, it wasn't going to be me.

participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge and also having a go at NaNoWriMo this November. This was a first draft published as it was written for Nanowrimo November 2020. A little rough around the edges, I hope to come back and edit at some point, and then continue the story on. In the grand scheme of things Elias was nothing special. Which was why he was surprised by a random company on a new colony planet buying out his contract. That was the problem with the large companies that ruled the colonies, once they owned your contract, they owned you. Imagine the greater surprise when he learnt that the new company held the promise of freedom. Not from the constant battle against the Swarm that were also trying to claim the colony planets for their own. Nor from the Crust, the mysterious substance that covered the same planets and held the resources they all fought for. No, the freedom from being oppressed by those with more power and to finally decide where to go and where to set down roots and call home.
