《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 51 - Strike

After a while, we made our ways towards the guard camps, we were not sure what it was, but it was quite different than what we originally thought it would be. Stone Barracks, a dozen in all, were covered in spikes and were heavily built, it’s exterior the thickness of walls, but by looking inside, it was way easier.
Each room seemed to have one person at least, so Sashal and I waited. All at the same time, there would be one guard on either side of the door, before they each saluted each other and slept. The guards would have slept for five hours before getting up and ready to swap with the same guard from before.
I noticed the pattern and I told Sashal, she looked at me in disbelief, so I asked her if she had any better planes. With no response, we waited for another five hours. It was long and careless, but still, we were on guard.
As I noticed each person in a bed at the same time woke up and began to put on their uniform before waiting at the door for the other to enter. Sashal and I took that opportunity and snuck through the wall.
As soon as a door closed, Sashal and I moved through the walls and ambushed the tired guard. I quickly summoned my chains and put them around his mouth whilst Sashal put her ring to the guard's chin and she turned to blood before going inside of him.
As soon as I saw struggling, I knew it was my turn. My veins began to glow bright and my marking turned white, I touched the guards head and then everything went black. I began to hear Sashals voice.
I opened my eyes and heard her inside my mind. Looking around, it worked, she and I were in the guard's body. Sashals demon ability is turning herself to blood and due to my new power after jabbing a small piece of energy crystal into me, I was able to turn myself into lightning, but I could only exist in that form in another body.

As I could sense the sources and souls of people, I could vaguely notice veins in their bodies that had the same energy as my lightning. Although small and vague, I knew if I was strong enough, I would be able to hijack their body as a sense, and it seems that I was correct.
‘Can you hear me?’ I thought.
‘Yes, it seems that our minds are connected within this body’ She replied.
‘So, how long do you think I was out for?’
‘Only a few minutes, during that time it seems that this body had a seizure whilst it was happening, although I was able to control most of it,’
‘I think I can envision his memories, as pretty much I've taken over his mind,’
‘Is he the right one?’
I just stood there silently, unlike the guard which I could just invade, I had to relearn how to think and feel, it was as if I was an infant again. After a while, I could maneuver through the guards' mind and then, I found it.
The guard vaguely remembered that his next shift would be that he would be going to the mines and help with chaining the chimeras, the perfect job for us to hijack.
‘He’ll be going on the metal machine… a train they are called and will guard the chimeras towards the mine, he’ll then chain then up and make them obedient, that is our distraction,’
‘How long until the other guard comes back? Five hours like last time?’
‘Correct, until then, let us see what you and I can learn about our host here,’
Our host just stood there, like a husk, and no one could see us. Sashal and I figured that he was a rank two demon, his name was Ragur, he was the third child of a moderately wealthy family halfway across Antral.

He was a pretty long way from home we both thought. Ragur was well trained with a trident, although he hadn’t yet awakened his soul ability, not that I could even control it if he had it. After I found out his main details, I began to learn more about him.
Ragur was also physically the strongest in the family, which dealt in the mining business. He was sent here to be a guard at this facility and was seventeen years old. Using the spear he had on him, we realized that Ragur had medium length brown hair and green eyes.
We looked over at the door and I heard footsteps, so Sashal and I commanded Ragur to get up and wait at the door. As it opened, we saw that the guard, Ragur not even knowing his name entered and we exited.
We left the barracks and found our way towards the station where we waited for about five minutes. When the train finally rolled in, we got on top of it and positioned ourselves near the door ready to exit.
It was a bumpy ride, Sashal and I were not used to it. To the best of our abilities, we made it through without being suspected, and we got off. As we saw the train leave, another one appeared before us, this time with living cargo.
Chimera’s all shapes and sizes were in cages and held down. Now our job was to guard the chimeras when they would be directed to the mind, before chaining them to a different collar and going with them.
As the chimeras were loaded off and went into different rooms, so did we. Inside the room, were three massive chimeras, which looked like they had been fused with a mammal and a reptile, similar to the one I fought at Gener’s palace.
As we wrestled the chimeras which were quite easy and locked them with chains and stabbed them with an energy crystal, Sashal would then place some blood within the cracks which would react on her command.
Afterwards, we would walk out the obedient chimeras and go deep into the mines. The crystals were everywhere, carts were overflowing, we weren’t sure what was happening, but we thought that Quinn's uncle wouldn’t do anything nice with these energy crystals.
After we reached the end of the tunnel, Sashal and I saw that some of the guards were one by one, going to the bathroom every so often. After a ten minute wait after someone left, we signalled to a higher-up that we would be going to the bathroom as well.
The larger guard agreed and we went to where everyone else went. A massive minecart wedged into the ground was there underneath a small heap of rock. During that time, Sashal drained herself out of Ragur and put her arm out to me.
I quickly then transferred myself into her body, although not controlling it, only taking control of one eye. We quickly looked around and then Sashal did it. The collars around the chimeras she set up were lit on fire and they began to rampage.
During the chaos, Sashal began to move outside unseen and run into the stone fortress. The first part of the plan was a success, and it was time to move onto the second part of the plan.

Leaves of Terranthir
DISCONTINUED - I won't be writing more of this fiction. Check out the latest post for a worlbuilding summary / final thoughts. Leaves of Terranthir is a gamelit blend of ARPG, action, fantasy, and slice of life. It's inspired in part by some of my favourite games, borrowing in themes, sense of exploration, and aesthetics from the Soulsborne and soulslike genre, mixed heavily with arpg itemization from Diablo/PoE style games. While many may remember their Soulslike experiences as nothing more than suffering, I personally loved the sense of progression, to prevail over challenges and monsters that seemed impossible to defeat at first. If any of that seems interesting to you, do check out the first chapter and let me know what you think. Cheers, and thanks for reading. Cover by Baconstrap.

Leonardo Montes, the incoming Captain-General, was both feared and loved by his subjects. Chinese immigration to the Philippines has increased at an exponential rate since his predecessor came to power and so is the circulation of the substance within the country. After All
This is not my story. My story was of a world I forged by my raw will, and of you, my children, forged of my dreams. That story has long since ended. Our world was not alone. Another deity came from beyond my sight, and despite our resistance rent our world asunder. In the end, all was lost and you were gone. That I survived your passing is a testament to the cruelty of existence; I cannot forgive existence for the monstrous crime of making me go on without you. This is the story of a new world, forged by the hands of fools. That it is made from the bones of that which I most hated will bring this place no absolution. In the fullness of time, I will seize the reins of this new narrative, and I shall end it. You are lost to me, my children. I will make a funeral pyre of all reality for you, and be with you in oblivion after all. --- DocSumac here. This is a story that has been rattling around in my head for years. It's not complete, but I'm not going to let it haunt me anymore. I'm uploading what is ready, and I'll add more as I can. --- Addendum May 20, 2020: I've added the Sex tag. Not because of actual smut, but becuase of what will probably devolve into an ongoing parade of dick jokes. No point denying my nature.
