《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 49 - Blood island

A week passed very quickly, the group would haul up food and then we’d eat how we like it. For Sashal and I, we usually just drank the blood out of it before throwing the corpse back into the sea. We would all go to our quarters as soon as the sunset happened and get up as soon as the sun rises.
I got up out of bed, Sashal already closing the door on me. Putting on my pants and shoes, I would follow soon after. When I got up to the deck, I saw that only Quinn and Sashal were there. We huddled together as a group, and then I saw something in the distance. It was a shadowy figure, and I could barely make out some mountains.
“I can see something,” I pointed my finger at the shadowy object “It’s a bit hazy, but I think that there may be the island,”
My eyes were probably the best in the group, I also looked through the eyes that could see the souls, and that also piqued my interest. The shadowy figure gave off a mixed colour, we were too far away for me to see anything, but it did tell me something.
“There are or were people there, I can’t pinpoint any certain auras, but it’s around the island,” I continued.
“There is only one island in a week, this is it,” Quinn replied.
“We’ll wait for Dyestrals old team,” Sashal said in a sarcastic tone.
“The junior elemental five,” I then smirked “The weaklings of the team.”
A few minutes later, the Abatson, Astaroth, Cynas, Xirax and Lucyfer, in that order, came out. Quinn welcomed then and explained the situation to them. Afterwards, Xirax asked me a few questions, before Quinn took over again and explained what would happen.

We then went back to our cabins and waited until nightfall. Sashal and I practised together. When it turned to dusk, everyone came back out whilst Sashal, Cynas and I went to the front of the ship.
Sashal kissed her ring and then put in onto my right arm, before turning herself to blood before then began to be absorbed by me. Afterwards, I embedded the ring in my arm and covered it with ice. I summoned a chain on my left hands and put it around Cynas foot.
The fish demon jumped into the water and I was dragged along with him. I kept looking at his soul, and as we got closer to the island, I began to tug on his leg, telling him certain commands. As we got closer to the island, I let go and snuck into a forest where no one was.
I thawed out my arm and tapped on the ring, with blood beginning to pour from it. It started as a hand and then became a body, before gaining skin and then Sashal was right in front of me. I could tell that Quinn was watching us as he said so, and then an orange portal appeared.
Astaroth, Xirax and Abatson came through the portal and we sat down together. Again, I looked around for souls and I found none, but I began making gestures for the three of them to do what they were told.
Astaroth rushed to the middle of the island, as he was commanded to. Abatson split himself in two and then absorbed himself into the ground, whilst Xirax took off silently with her wings keeping to the shadows.
Only Sashal and I were left, and so I focused on the ring and some blood began to drip out. I put the ring on her forehead, closed my eyes, then began to mutter.

“Although close or far, even if one is asleep, may our minds be intertwined for this night, a half-moon.”
Sashal now had a red diamond on her forehead, and so did I.
‘Follow,’ I thought, Sashal nodded.
She followed my lead, before finding something strange. Two metal lines, not touching, with wooden planks underneath them. Sashal touched them and looked both ways. To her right, Sashal and I heard a noise coming through there, sounding like some sort of rumble.
We went back into the bushes and spied on the noise as it got closer and closer. The mysterious object we found to be metal with steam coming out of it and wheels that were connected to the metal lines. When the object moved past us, it made a massive sound, sounding like a whistle.
As it rushed past, we caught glimpses of cages it had on wooden planks, and that's where I saw them. Chimeras, something I hated, I know Gener was long dead, but he still caused me trouble, not only that, but I think some of them caught glimpses of Sashal and me in the bushes.
We headed back into the forest and found a higher ground, where we saw the same metal vehicle going in the opposite direction, this time with no chimeras in cages. We both looked confused, where were they taking them.
‘Where are they taking the chimera’s,’ Sashal asked me.
‘Probably somewhere for them to do something, let's follow.’
Sashal and I crept through the forest, now noticing that there were many more guards around where we were going, although not on the cliff we were looking over. We both stuck our heads out and saw what they were doing.
There was a small stone stronghold, covering a man-made place, protecting a tunnel as well. I looked through it with my eyes and saw it, an aura of all the sources coming from that hole, that is where the energy stone reservoir is. I told Sashal what I sensed, but we both agreed on viewing what was happening.
Guards were putting shackles that were engraved with grey crystals, and I could sense they were made out of energy stones. I crunched my teeth, putting enough pressure on them to crack, although they healed themselves in no time. No one noticed the massive sound of my teeth breaking.
Sashal and I knew what the king's brother was doing, as our job was done, we headed back into the forest, disappearing from what the guards were doing, not being seen at all.

The first project focusing on four protagonists within the same world set around fictional 14th-century Europe. This is the first P.A.R.A.D.O.X. PROJECT focusing on 3 (+1) protagonists within the same world set around fictional 14th-century-esque Europe. Each story has its own protagonists (Male or Female Lead), genres (mainly Western Fantasy), and can be read as a standalone. Status: OngoingUpdate(s) per week: 1Words per chapter: 3000 - 6000 *** ‘A human or not; a king or a servant; hope or despair; a hero or a villain.’ Depending on one's perspective and how each story portrays, one will view an individual or a group as evil or virtuous. Because of that, it depends on the reader and listener to believe which one is the truth. More people read and trust multiple (trusted?) sources that either complement or contradict one another. The contradiction becomes the source of debates between those who believe and those who don’t. From that difference in belief, two groups appear: The Majority and The Minority. The majority, having more people, suppress the minorities’ beliefs, claiming theirs, the majorities’, to be the truth. However, the majority are not only composed solely of those who share the same belief but also those who know the truth but afraid to admit it. They have to keep quiet and turn a blind eye for their safety. The majority had to submit to those with power and authority. With the majority under control, those with power and authority can create, manipulate, and/or fabricate truth and lies by force. The reason was for one’s or group’s personal benefits. In the end, there is no such thing as ‘absolute truth’; only sugar-coated lies created by the top. Don’t believe me? It is up to you to decide. Go and read it yourself.
