《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 37 - True Side

That night I slept on the roof, covering myself in a thin layer of ice, sealing my movement until the sun melted it. I decided that I would not go to Antral; I would just hope that a dream would take me. When dawn broke and the ice thawed, I woke up, looking down on the courtyard, where students were having an early lesson taught by me.
I watched them for a bit, in the morning, the students could take extra physical classes soon. I was just waiting for the sun to rise to a peak of a specific tree. When the sun hit the point of the tree, I got up and stretched before jumping down.
As I was stretching, I saw something. Among the group of students, one was pushing another around. I jumped down and began to dash towards them. As I got closer to them, I saw that a dragonoid was looking over some sort of reptilian beasteal.
I made my left hand untouchable and grasped the dragonoids heart, not killing him, but the amount of anger I was letting out made him stop pushing the student.
"May I ask what you are doing to that student?" I asked the dragonoid.
"That beasteal is a lizard!"
"So? There are major differences between him and you," I looked at the person on the ground. He looked a lot like a human, except his body was scaly and green.
"Just let me at him, I don't care if I get one strike,"
"I wouldn't recommend it,"
"Why?"
"First of all, I'll give you two strikes and secondly, you can't feel it, but my soul ability allows me to pass through solid objects at will,"
"So?"
"So what I'm telling you is that I have my hand grasping around your heart and I'm not afraid to kill,"
"Listen, I'm a rare specimen, a dragonoid with a source of life, you wouldn't kill me?"
"No, I wouldn't, but I would hurt you so badly you wished you were dead." I removed my hand and bit my tongue off; I spat it at him, making a bloodstain his scales. "But next time I will hurt you, now go,"

The dragonoid then ran off to join the rest of the group; I looked back down and saw that the beasteal was trying to get up. I offered my hand which the beasteal grabbed and pulled himself up.
"Thank you, Mr Blutrot," The beasteal said.
"I am a reasonable person, but I want to know why he was pushing you around,"
"Reptile based beasteals are known to be tormented by the dragonoid race as since dragons were known as 'the true lizard', it would make sense," I heard Landa's voice from behind me. I turned around to see that my prediction was correct.
"Thank you for a bit of history that was left unknown to me, but now I'm wondering what reptile you are,"
There was a small amount of silence before the beasteal began to talk.
"My animal is called a chameleon, it's able to change colours," The beasteal then turned his hand to a sparkling red.
"Well I believe that even you can become strong, so let's start."
I walked until I was facing all the students, clapping to get their attention. One by one, discussions calmed down, and their gaze shifted towards me.
"I thank everyone for coming here in this early morning, you see, for today we will be working on your physical abilities,"
"Why is that?" Frederick came out from the small crowd.
"Because your abilities can become stronger through different means, like meditating,"
"So?"
"I did that and now look at me, one of the most powerful people here,"
"Oh? I don't believe you; I just think you're cocky and are very weak."
"Alright then, let's see if you believe your predictions afterwards,"
I created a broad outline of a circle by freezing the ground around me, challenging Fredrick to a duel. The reason why I chose to freeze the floor was a callback to our last battle. The dire wolf beasteal stepping into the ring and the battle was on.
"The first one to exit the ring loses unless you want to forfeit now Frederick?"
"Screw that, let's begin now."
Frederick summoned his incarnate weapon, the axe of fire which I used to fear. I clapped my hands and summoned my chains, giving him a grin. Unlike most times I'm around humans and summon my chains, I said it quite loudly than I usually do.

"Why did you summon an incarnate weapon? You're a demon, aren't you?"
"And why can't a demon have fun? All I'm doing is mocking humans and beasteals,"
"Don't make fun of my race! You cocky Demon!"
Frederick swung his axe, which I easily dodged by jumping back. After I landed again, I jumped with force while putting my right foot in front of me. Next thing that happened was that I collided with Fredericks axe side, using his primary source of attack as a defence as well, something I did not expect.
I smiled and put my chains around his entire body before flinging him out of the circle. I looked to where he stood, Frederick had collapsed on the ground out of the ring. His skin was perfect, and the impact wouldn't have left any broken bones, so I looked back to the rest of the class.
"Now you saw there, that Frederick used his axe to block my kick, exceptional work on his part. But I used that amount of time to throw him out of the circle-"
"Behind you!" I was rudely cut off by the chameleon beasteal, but I took his action and looked behind me.
A wave of fire was coming at me; it was three-time my height and would be dangerous if it engulfed me. I sighed and created a shield of ice, which negated the attack. In a heartbeat, I appeared behind Frederick and grabbed his throat as steam came off my body.
"Strike two and three Mr Nadone," I gritted my teeth.
The next thing I did was smash Fredrick into the floor and put my left foot on top of him. Frederick opened his eyes, still filled with rage and hope, a flame in his eyes that was about to go out.
"Do you not remember my warning, three strikes and pain awaits, I won't kill you, but it will hurt,"
"Try your best you useless demon!" Fredrick yelled back.
"Alright then, I do remember warning you that I would take out of your tongue." I lowered my body and pulled Fredricks jaw until it snapped and broke. With him screaming in pain, using my left hand and pulled out his tongue, making blood spurt out of his mouth, like a fountain.
I smiled and ate the tongue, making Frederick begin to cry.
"It's alright, you'll get your potion that heals small body parts, from my expense of course, but now time for the main event, do you like part of your skeleton pulled out?" Frederick began to squirm. "It's alright; I'll make it quick."
I tore off a shirt he was wearing, revealing his bare top body, before plunging my hand into his right chest and pulling off a rib from his body. While doing that Frederick began to scream, filling me with delight. I kept pulling one after another out until his right side had no more ribs. I then put my hand into him, and he began to squeal.
"I believe that's enough, I was going to pull off your bits, but I remember that females are also attending this class, so I won't, for equality."
I began looking at his bones, creating exact replicas made of ice. I then placed the ice into Fredricks body, giving him source to fuse the ice to his bones. I repeated that process until his entire ride side of his ribcage was made of ice.
I then welded the massive wound I made with lightning, just so he didn't bleed out, also leaving a permanent scar. I got off Frederick and began to walk back to class. I looked back one more time and saw all that Frederick was now gasping on the floor, shivering due to fear.
"Now then, anyone else wants to fight me in the circle?"
"We will," Lance's voice replied from behind me.
I looked to where the voice came from and saw that Lance and Sasha, were ready to face me. I smiled and replied:
"The circle won't count anymore; we'll use the entire courtyard, bring it."

The Epiphany Colony
Brad Asher has been a private detective on the Epiphany Colony orbiting Mars for about a year before stumbling into a conspiracy that threatens the safety and stability of the colony. Note that the story here is the first draft and has a lot of ideas, characters, and plotlines that I ended up dropping in the final version that I released here currently available on Kindle Unlimited. The entire second half was restructured, as I ended up not being satisfied with some of the things that I introduced and felt like it had strayed too far from my initial vision of a space-based detective noir story.

And so, as time went on, history was rewritten, and those amazing things became, to the population at large, the stuff of legends. However, in the year of 2017 A.S. (Anno Salvator), a group of teenagers find themselves pulled into the magical side of Bios as they encounter the Magic Knight Forces, discover dark secrets, and realize that a great threat is rising from its long sleep...
