《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 11 - Control

As soon as I was ready, I immediately dashed at Ren, sword against fist. We both met the icy land and regained our balance due to the slippery surface; I saw that Ren had what I would believe a dragonoid's shocked face.
"What's with the shocked face Ren?" I said with a smirk.
"It's weird fighting you, I mean, that weapon just appeared out of thin air,"
"Don't you know what an incarnate weapon is?" I began to twirl my sword, scratching the ice with it.
"What's an incarnate weapon?"
"It's a weapon you can summon after you unlock your soul ability, although I can't control my soul ability yet," I didn't even know what it was. The random weapons every time I summoned my incarnate weapons was also confusing.
"Us demon's don't have that,"
"What do you have instead?"
"We have this,"
Ren then punched the ground so hard that a crater, about twenty metres in radius was full of cracks. I didn't want him to complete his plan to I ran at him, dodging chunks of ice that he threw at me. I caught one of the pieces and threw it back at him, hearing him grunt in pain.
By the time I was there a cold fog had formed around Ren, and I looked into it and noticed that a hole had been created, I pointed my sword towards the hole, and a massive block of ice grabbed me.
I slammed the ice with my tail and withdrew my sword back to my chest, backstepping away a few metres. A massive being that was purely blue jumped out of the hole, creating an enormous gush of air through a roar it emitted. I looked and saw that a giant ice statue was in its place, with Ren to the right of it.

"Instead of Incarnate weapons, we have demonic abilities," Ren smirked, patting his creation.
"Now I'm going to ask what that is?" I replied with.
"It's an ability in one of your sources; my demonic ability belongs to darkness, it allows me to control large inanimate objects, like this ice golem."
I turned my attention back towards the golem, it was what I guessed ten metres, and was made purely out of ice, it was hunched with all its body with unsmooth craggy body parts made of the glacier. Ren then pointed at me with his left hand, and the golem charged, with every step it took, it leaving cracks within the ice.
The golem then swung its large hands, and I went into the air before I fell. I plummeted my tail into the ground and stuck the landing, although my body ached due to the impact, it seems my demon healing was taking place.
I could feel a cold feeling surging throughout my entire body, healing all my injuries, but afterwards, I felt weakened and drained. I guessed that my body was too weak to handle the speed of the healing, meaning that I couldn't get hit without suffering a loss to my stamina.
I looked at Ren to see that he was spaced out, like an old husk. I looked even more laborious and saw that also though he looked dead, he was out of breath as well. I guessed it took a lot of power to control that monster, and I saw my opportunity. I charged at Ren sword pointing right at him, I was about to hit him, but he regained consciousness the moment I was about to strike.
As I was about to swing and hit him, my sword broke. I never heard or saw an incarnate weapon breaking, so I was in shock. With nowhere to run, I tried to hit Ren with my tail, and he hit me with his own, but Rens tail overpowered mine, pummeling me into the ground.

As I was trying to get up, I felt a sort of comfort. I opened my eyes to see that I was awake in my bed. I tried to get up, but my body seemed to ache quite a lot. I then struggled to go to the bathroom, very quickly, my body got used to the aching, and I was walking normally.
Taking a deep breath, I made myself colder with my ice source, negating the pain somewhat. I opened the door towards the bathroom and headed inside, seeing in the mirror that I was back in my black-haired body, but this time I had a tail. I try to touch it, but my hand just went through it.
It seemed that the tail had no touchable form in the natural world, but in my dream world, it took shape. I headed to a window to see that the moon was still out, but it seemed that it was going to be dawn soon. I put on some clothes and went towards the large hall room. It took about ten minutes due to my injury, but I got there in the end.
I went around the corner to see that Jododam was still sitting by the fire, reading a book with a wine glass in one hand like he was this morning. As he turned around, his usual calmed and collected face looked a bit surprised.
"Ah Dyne, why do you have a tail?" Jododam asked me.
"Don't know, it just appeared overnight, but I can't touch it," I wasn't shocked to see that Jododam could see it, with his power always being frightening.
"Well then, either go outside and practise with it or go rest within your living quarters,"
"Wait... I just have one question,"
"Go on," Jododam closed his book.
"I want to know more about you, about the species of demons, and why there are no records of demon abilities anywhere,"
"That's more than one question, but I will gladly answer you,"
"Go on,"
Jododam got up, "It is this simple," Jododam appearing in front of me, "Our souls are greater than humans, but their souls are more connected to their bodies, allowing their uniqueness to become a physical form, while I and maybe you are less connected to our bodies, allowing us to use skills unique to every demon,"
"...I see, my gratitude to say that to my face," Jododam rubbed my head.
"Out of anyone here, not only are you the strongest, but I have the most respect for you, and I hope we can get along,"
"I understand,"
"Good, now, go outside, I believe you have some energy you want to release."
I bowed at Jododam before going outside and sitting down, focusing on my body. A tail showed something that I had not thought of before, and that was the power, of a demon, which I was now glad to be.
