《I want to be Low-key》Inside the Principal’s Chamber

As Raman came inside the office he saw there were many cupboards there. Many books were there inside with ranging with various topics. In the middle of the room, a middle-aged man was there reading a register.
Still maintaining a stance…Raman thought.
But he did not dare to disturb the principal. He just tried to remember the detail relating to him.
Principal Sheshan had been the best in academics since he was very young. He had been called to the Criminal investigation Department because of his sharp-mindedness. But he had declined the invitation as his ambition was to teach the students. Even then he has been given the position of honorary member of the criminal investigation department and he will give his suggestions when it was required.
As Raman was remembering the details of the principal the latter was also studying him.
He had seen the new students only in the joining ceremony. He had no idea why this guy had come through. Even though he was puzzled he calmed himself down and gestured Raman to sit. Then he glanced at him in a questioning gaze.
Raman knew that this was his cue. He began to speak,” Sir, I have come here to say that I don’t want to continue in the Criminal investigation elite Course. I want to switch to another course. Can you help me in this regard?”
Now it was the principal’s turn to be confused. His ears were listening to the words but his brain was unable to process them. He stammered and said,” Wait, wait wait. I can’t understand you. Are you seriously saying that you want to transfer to another course”?
Raman nodded.
“Why?” the principal asked trying to keep his emotions in check.
But Raman ignored the principal’s behavior and explained” Sir, actually I am a lazy guy. I thought that after passing the exam I will be happy. But seeing the courses piling upon us I don’t think so. Because I was studying yesterday, I have not been able to sleep and because of that, I had to sleep in Lecturer Rangaraj’s Class. Because of this, I think that this course is not my cup of tea. So, I need your consent to transfer to another course.”

The principal listening carefully understood the gist of it. But he was still confused. So, he thought of getting more information about the student. So he asked Raman,” This Student, can you please tell me your name?”
“Raman”
“Can you please tell me your roll no?”
“E36501”
After the principal typed the roll no in the computer the details about Raman began to flash on the screen. The principal looked at the data with astonishment.
“You”, he said flabbergasted “if you are lazy and have come 2nd in the entrance exam then what is your score if you are serious?”
“Sir, I thought life would be better once I passed the exam so I studied hard…but,” Raman spread his hands.
Even Principal Sheshan was at loss. He could give the Course transfer certificate to him. As the courses had only completed midterm and exams had not started it was not an issue.
But as he looked at Raman, he could not understand. Why?
He could still remember. Many had called him, pressurized him to select their son, relatives to the course. There were some people who wanted to bribe him to attend the course.
But this guy? Looking at Raman’s face, the principal had the urge to beat someone.
