《The Demon Lord’s Successor》49: Healing a Bunny Girl

“You’re done?” You ask Chi after a solid five seconds have passed after her tirade. Chi doesn’t answer, apparently she has said all she had to say. You get your set of keys, insert the master key into the lock, turn it and, after a successful clicking sound, open the door.
“Delta do you think you can heal a broken back?” You turn to the bunny standing behind you.
Delta shakes her head in response.
“Well, I’m not sure if my hellfruits can do anything about that either,” you say and walk into the cell. “Start with healing up her back!”
“W-what?” Chi asks you, clearly confused.
“You don’t want me to heal you?”
Chi looks away without answering. Of course, no one in their right mind would want to stay like this—bleeding, in pain, a cripple.
Delta passes you, puts her hands to Chi’s back and begins her healing. Green light forms around her hands, not strong enough to properly illuminate the cell, but strong enough to heal the gashes on Chi’s back. While Delta does that, you repeatedly cast [Hellfruits] and stockpile the healing items right there, on the floor.
“Delta, once you’re done, take these fruits and feed them to Chi,” you command the silent bunny. “Force-feed them if need be. After that try to heal Chi again.”
While Delta faithfully follows your orders you stand back and lean against the wall. This will take a while. Of course, you didn’t use up all your energy on the fruits and have more than enough energy to fill this cell with your loyal minions, should Chi attempt something rash after she’s healed.
Chi doesn’t resist and eats as many fruits as Delta gives her, though by the sixth one it’s apparent that she has difficulty stuffing in anymore. They are supposed to satiate hunger after all. After some ten minutes of healing attempts, Delta looks at you and shakes her head again.

“No good after all?” you ask and slightly frown. “Honestly I’m a bit surprised. My fruits once cured a pierced heart! I guess Elza really did a number on you. We’re going to need a better healer.”
“Not that I don’t appreciate your efforts,” Chi finally speaks up, still tied up, “But what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Do you expect my gratitude when you’re the one who did this to me in the first place?”
You can’t help but sigh. Maybe a little “thank you for not letting me bleed out and stave at the same time” would’ve been nice, after all.
“Get off your high horse!” you finally say to Chi while still leaning against the wall. Delta simply sits next to Chi and listens to this. “In case you’ve completely forgotten, your group as been harassing, robbing, kidnapping, killing, torturing and raping countless people! And that’s only what I’ve personally seen! Where I come from, having you rot in a cell for the rest of your days would be called ‘letting you off the hook easy’!”
“So, now you’re supposed to be some kind of a hero?” Chi asks loudly, not willing to take verbal punches lightly. “Ridding the world of all evil by any means necessary?”
“How about just trying to live my life in peace?” you respond to her question with another question. “Since I arrived here, your group attacked this place twice! Once you tried to kill me and a poor grieving girl. And the second time you barge into our home when nobody is there and steal the body of the girl’s father, who died just a couple hours earlier! She lost her father twice in the same day!”
“Oh, save me the sob story!” Chi rolls her eyes. “That girl’s father was a monster responsible for the deaths of millions! If there is one thing I refuse to be sorry for is putting a body of a mass murdered to good use.”

“Good use?”
“We were raising funds—Ah, what does it even matter now! Why bother explaining it to someone who cares more about the corpse of a mass murderer?”
“I care more about the girl you brother kidnapped!” you say and take a step closer to Chi. “I need to find her! Fast!”
“And you expect me to help you?”
“Yes!”
“Why?”
