《The Demon Lord’s Successor》46: Responsibilities

You can’t help but raise an eyebrow hearing the explanation of how Pythia “helped” you. Still, no one has died, the loose battle bunny has been subdued and crippled, so she won’t be causing any more trouble anytime soon.
Now that you think about it, at the end of it all, the only one who has been wounded is Pythia herself. Whether it was simply spiteful taunting in response to Chi’s remark or a calculated move, Pythia did end up being the first to fight Chi, when she was at full strength.
You summon two [Hellfruits] and, almost begrudgingly, throw them to Pythia, “Catch!”
“What is this?” Pythia asks holding the fruits in her healthy wing.
“Healing fruits. Eat them.”
“Fruits? This isn’t what you promised me,” Pythia says and looks clearly dissatisfied.
“Look, I can’t have you eating Chi—I might need her to find her damn brother. When we find Xi you have my word I will let you eat him whole.”
Pythia still looks at you doubtful.
“I will go out of my way to capture him alive, if at all possible! I’m sure there will be a line of people who would enjoy seeing him ripped to pieces alive,” you say and look back at the freed, former captives. “But in the meantime, I cannot have you eating any of the bunny girls. Do we have an agreement?”
Pythia keeps staring at you and then finally says, “You better find him soon then.”
“Don’t presume you’re going to give me instructions!” You say as your blood begins to boil again.
“Oh no, I would never do that! I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding!” Pythia bows in apology. “All I meant to say is that if he does have that minotaur girl, then she is not long for this world.”

“... I know,” you say and look as Pythia takes a bite from one of the red fruits you gave her. She immediately spits it out.
“Blergh! What is this?” She asks wincing in disgust and throws the fruits away. “How can you eat that garbage?”
“Rgh! Who cares what they taste like? They can heal you!”
“I care! If I’m going to be the one eating them.”
“Nevermind. Gamma!” You call the battle bunny with the biggest boobs around. “You said before that Delta has healing abilities, correct? Is she good enough to heal Pythia’s wing?”
“Should be, otherwise there isn’t much use to keep her around,” Gamma says with a smile.
“Alright, stay here with Delta and Pythia. I need to see what state she’s in,” you say and then turn to the rest of your crew. “Let’s get to work! This place is supposed to be a new home for many of you, but it is a far cry away from being homely. Hercule! Take a couple of guys and put Beta and Chi into cells in the lower levels of the dungeon. Keep them separate! And tie up this one. Can’t have her crawling out of her cell again. Alpha, guide them down! Elza, make sure that all the supplies are brought inside! We will get more soon. And light up some torches in there!”
As you give the most basic orders you realize just how much you have to do and in a hurry. Everyone will need food and water. You could temporarily rely on your Hellfruits, but that won’t cut it long term as your forces grow. What supplies you brought, will last you a couple of days if you’re lucky.
You need to repair your dungeon-castle, for which you need tools, materials, and manpower. You need to establish a safe and guarded route between here and Birdville, you need to properly arm everyone, protect your lands, find your sister, find other sisters...

You feel a bit light-headed. When have you ever had so much responsibility? Before, in the back of your mind, you planned to just drop down this stuff to Ariadne and while you’re busy with killing your enemies and fucking pretty girls.
“Pythia you’ll have a lot to do when your wing is healed up,” you say to the bird-monster so that she doesn’t get too comfortable. “And the same goes for your troglodytes in Birdville."
"Birdville?" Pythia snickers.
"I never bothered to find out the proper name of Xi's outpost and don't even care anymore. But you will be helping. if you want to eat Xi before he disappears that is.”
“Sure thing, Mr. Demon Lord!” Pythia salutes you and grins, just as she did last time.
