《The Demon Lord’s Successor》6: Honesty
Advertisement
For a second you do wonder if it was wise displaying your Sexomancy spells so blatantly. But when you think about it, why bother hiding it? Your sister is the daughter of a Demon Lord—a being that must have impregnated half the kingdom, judging by how many offsprings he managed to produce. Honesty is the best policy, after all!
“It seems I have inherited mostly two types of magic from my father—demon magic and perverted magic,” You explain. “One of those spells allows me to arouse several enemies at once, which is at the very least a great way to diminish their fighting ability, though I suspect it will not be as useful against strong-willed opponents.
There is a spell to enlarge a male member, in case you have a friend in need. I suspect I could find a lot of men willing to pay a pretty penny for this. Though the most powerful of all my spells might be the one that lets me submit an enemy to my will. Honestly, the possibilities are nearly limitless—interrogation, assassination or just plain torture.
There’s not much to say about my main offensive spells—I cast them, and people die. Though I was surprised about my imps being little girls. Is that the norm here?”
“No, it isn’t,” Ariadne replies and looks at the imp girls, that are sitting around a campfire, surrounded by the mutilated bodies of the bandits. The lolis are giggling and cheerfully chatting with each other while cooking meat on their daggers over the fire.
“Neither have I ever heard of such... strange magic,” Ariadne says with her arms crossed. “If my father did have such spells, then he clearly made sure to never speak of them.”
Just then all three imp girls turn into figures of dark energy that instantly disintegrate into tiny fragments. So there’s a time limit on the summons, even if they don’t die, you conclude.

“Who was that cloaked man commanding the attackers? Did you get him?” You ask your sister.
“No, he escaped, as always.” Ariadne sighs. Then her eyes snap wide open and she kneels before you. “I-I am terribly sorry, My Lord! P-please forgive my incompetence!”
“Just tell me what you know,” you say to her calmly.
“O-of course, My Lord!” Ariadne bows her head. “What little I’ve been able to find out is that he’s some sort of equipment summoner that finds fools to do his dirty work for him. Of course, every time he disappears all his “gifts” go with him. He probably thinks we have some rare and valuable artifacts hidden in the dungeons.”
“And do you?”
“N-not for a long time, My Lord. This is common knowledge for most, but some fools try their luck nonetheless. With your permission, I will set out immediately to hunt down that man once and for all. Please allow me to correct my mistake!”
"Where would you even look?"
"There is an outpost in this region, where scum like this gathers. I can use a teleportation spell to get there instantly."
You consider your options. The cloaked man has seen your magical abilities, so it would be a good idea to capture or kill him. If he uses such weaklings for his work, then he can't be that strong, but there's a chance to run into much more powerful enemies. Not to mention that he could be anywhere if he has the same kind of teleportation abilities.
"Before that, tell me—is there some sort of an Adventurer's Guild in this world?"
"A-ah, I know of one, yes!" Your sister stutters. "I've seen it once in the city where my sister lives."
You're going to need a lot of money to rebuild your kingdom, and signing up as a newbie adventurer seems like a safe way to start out. Not to mention both you and your sister could use better equipment. But isn't it too risky to go into such a populated area straight away? Perhaps it's a better idea to stay here and check your surroundings. Just a moment ago the enemy was literally on your doorstep after all.

8 2447Journey of Infinite Steps
Science Fiction/ Low fantasy Iliad. Oliver just wanted a job that could keep his family fed, and himself sane. Was that so much to ask for? Apparently. As he instead ends up facing monsters and dodging his way to another world instead. Competent as he views himself figuring out how to reopen a portal back home by himself is defiantly above his knowledge base. Of coarse it would be vastly simpler if he could keep 'getting back home' as his primary goal. 'Staying alive' is unfortunately a far more immediate and relevant goal. I will post any content warnings on a Per Chapter basis. Divisive content will be as skip-able as I can reasonably manage Discord Link will be available for those interested in assisting editing/ coauthoring. Especially character writers/those willing to work out the math/ economies and world building even if only as a wall to bounce ideas off of.-----Full Synapsis contains serious spoilers----- Looking to take care of his family, Oliver finds himself flung into a faraway place. Try as he might, his Iliad will not be simple or peaceful as he'd like. Alas the slow and unending war of Chaos and Order has long memories and longer reach. If Oliver is to make his way back home it looks like He'll have to solve the universe one fight and mystery at a time. Especially as the Laws of Physics shift, often on a per world basis. Hopefully there is still a home to come back to.

The town of Trident Grove used to be a thriving port town. It used to be. These days the soil is full of fire ants, the bay is full of Jellyfish, the weather is unforgiving, and the citizens have secrets. Terry wanted a normal everyday life, but on the night of a full moon, he meets a mermaid and sets a string of mistakes in motion. An unending storm, murderous monsters, and death plague the town, and it's all Terry's fault. The story is a bit of a slow burn until Part 2.
